whats the point of new ships when pvp is in such a sorry state?

Does anyone else think that all these new ship are a little pointless with no real pvp or any reason to pvp? I know they need to make money but would'nt they sell more ships if there was some fun pvp? Boot camp should show cryptic that there is a big interest in pvp and its worth investing in. I feel sorry for the boot camp grads because there is really no reason to put their new skills to use.
I know the devs said pvp is going to be worked on but c'mon season 9 is too far away and they did even say season 9 was going to be pvp so it might not even be this year.

What do the ships have to do with PvP? I mean it's not like these ships were designed to only be used in PvP. So the state of PvP has no impact on if new ships should be added or not.
you do know pvp is not the only thing in this game its called pve and people that pve want new ships so they add new ships
for blowing the TRIBBLE out of borg with cool looking cannons, i'll buy the kumari.
give me a 5 fore slot bop and i'd buy it as well for PvP purposes.

you defend the pve'ers fine, every new ship is for them because pvp is not worth playing!
really nothing has been done in 3 years for pvp I think its our turn.
understand where you coming from but you got to look at it this way the people that make those ships are not the ones that make the content for pvp or pve

No. I don't do pvp, I can?t care less about pvp and I love new ships.
i didnt say "lets get those artists working on pvp" i said lets get SOMEONE working on pvp just do something tell us your doing something this year? next year? just give us some hope.
...and if you had been paying attention through those three years young man, you'd know that PvP is nowhere near the top of the monetary value tree for Cryptic to do anything with :P
New shiny ships though...they're a money maker and they can keep a lot of players happy.
And of that list... League of Legends is the only game that actually has much of a player base left.
UO, GW1, War Online, ect... all are either effectively or actually shut down. Perhaps you should try listing some games that people actually play that are PvP focused?

they promised that ship a year ago ok what about the pvp update they promised back in season2
I play World of Tanks in addition to STO. Now there is a game that's ONLY PvP. However, I will tell you that the issue you're having w/ STF's and PvP matches occur there too. A lot of disgruntled people about AFKers, balance problems, etc. You also have team killing there which doesn't happen in STO, but it also a major issue w/ PvP games. PvP or not, you got the same old TRIBBLE, so to say that PvP is the height of gaming experience is...yeah...not really the case.

No they promised the andorian escort right after the release of season 2.
Maybe the next point on the list is the pvp update, but i wouldn't bet my money on it.

New ship = more money for PW and Cryptic
PvP update = more work for Cryptic and not more money for PW
well if the "top of the monetary tree" is all cryptic cares about and not what players have been asking for, then geezer all we will get is ships and grind
Well this is a form for STO, which is a MMO. What they do in other games simply doesn't mean a thing here.
Might as well complain about aim-bots, because talking about what RTS' do means about as much as an aim-bot in a MMO would.
But please feel free to keep posting nonsense and look even more like the stereotypical PvP'er. You know the kind that do more harm to PvP then anyone else on a message board.

Oh, and if you want perfectly balanced PvP play then I can loan you a really old set of Rock'em Sock'em Robots! And when you want a different arena or map to "fight" in, you can just pick it up and move it to another room! Or even outside!
And yet, the game has more players now then it did 3 years ago. Yet lack any sort of meaningful PvP.
So why exactly should cryptic invest money and resources into a segment of the game that so few people play when they see such a big return on things like new ships, which just about everyone seems to like having.
Again, it's not like the new ships won't be used by PvPers.
Everyone knows Blue is WAY OP'ed and needs to be nerfed.
just about every mmo has better pvp then sto and you HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT "aim bots in rts? what rts game has any type of aim bot your the guy who said no game in the last 20 yeas has a viable pvp and i list mmo's you say "oh not many people play those list games with a pvp focus" so i list pvp focused games and you say oh those are not mmo's" your a fanboy go kill some npc's
