I heard this was going to be a three hour movie, then PWE got involved and they decided to just play 3 mins of the original movie 60 times instead.;)

Apparently if you go to the movie in a large group you're allowed to buy popcorn at normal prices. however, if you turn up alone you need another mortgage.

always amazed at the j.j bashers that pop up in these threads, they should be grateful there are actual star trek movies being made. and to be honest im totally looking forward to this new movie as i enjoyed the last one a hell of a lot better than that last attempt by the tired next gen franchise that were aging away on us...
but thanks for making the effort to connect S.T.O. with the new movie im sure you devs will probably go and see it together during work hours.. and its nice to see a give-away that exists in the real world rather than the virtual world.. thanks cryptic..

I think of myself as an average star trek fan, hell i watched even VOYAGER over and over again (and its truly my least favourite).
What JJ as done its making a movie with star trek elements ('n' lil willy wonka...) but not star trek...
In 60 minutes he obbliterated everything I as a fan loved of star trek.. making it a fiction inside a fiction.. and if I wanted that I would have subscribed to the Leonardo Di Caprio's "INCEPTION" fan club... moreover to me its best no movie than a bad one....

The only restriction is that you must live on Earth :P We'll ship the poster anywhere world wide :) We're going to try and include Mars and Venus next time if the intersol mail service is up and running.

    Cheers,

That's quite a surprise! I remember times when I visited the official Star Trek page, entered a competition or a giveaway only to learn it was for residents of the U.S.

    oh please.

this mentality is so hipster i don't even know where to start.

look at the state of Trek in media since the end of DS9. look at how horrible generations, insurrection and nemesis were. look at the over-reliance on time travel Enterprise had.

or maybe you guys have forgotten how horrible star trek V was? shall we sing some row row row your boat to help you remember? or perhaps how horribly drawn out and boring star trek the motion picture was? the only epic trek was khan, and this was due to an excellent story that delved into very human aspects.

Trek was failing. JJ reinvigorated it, modernized it. although i was disappointed it was yet another freaking time travel story, the result was well done entertaining movie and a great jumping off point to reboot the franchise for moviegoers.

trek was failing. it wasn't jar-jar binks, but i was surprised the scimitar fight didn't happen over a forest moon filled with feral tellarites who helped the enterprise crew subdue shinzon's ground forces with rocks and logs. the franchise was teetering.

The voyage home was one of the best. Startrek isnt about violence and war a good scientific reasearch movie would be excellent.

The movie looks good, it will never be like the originals but what ever is. I plan to enjoy this one like the first, by not comparing it to TOS.
