Comparative Analysis between Dilithium and Questionite values

Since not many STO players play Champions Online, I'd figure I'd throw this out there so you can be aware of it.

CO has a currency similar to Dilithium.
It's called Questionite.
And like STO, you can buy it from other players.

However, whenever I've compared the sale rate, there's something suspicious going on.

The standard sale rate in STO was 150
It's still 150 in CO.
But in STO, it's now 90 maximum.

As a comparative analysis, this almost doubles the cost in real world dollars of zen>dil conversion in STO.

And yet, no explanation has been offered why the rate dropped so suddenly or drastically.
Other then "players set the value, not Cryptic".

In the real world, this kind of currency devaluation would be grounds for price fixing investigations.

A sudden and rapid drop overnight (relatively speaking) is not normal.

One of the main reasons it dropped was that fewer players are selling dilithium due to the reputation system and higher tier fleet projects. There are too many dilithium sinks, and yet no real increases in the amount of refined dilithium being produced. It's just a product of simple macro economics.

I don't think this is a mystery o.O Season 7 did it. Supply and demand basics, we need more dil = dil price raises.

Besides, this is something bad for ppl who buy zen with real money to get dil. I fail to imagine why would Cryptic want to affect the ppl who pay on purpose, if u are trying to say that they "fixed" the price.

Yah, there really isn't that much to do with questoinite in champions. Costume pieces, some gear, some consumables. Many of those items a good chunk of the player base doesn't even really care about. Not to mention champions noticibly smaller player base.

STO on the other hand, everything needs dilithium. Crafting needs it, fleet upgrades need it, the majority of good equipment needs it, the rep system needs it. People want dilithium.

I don't think there is anything suspicious going on here. It used to be you could watch the market and prices would fall untill something was released in the Cstore, then they would rise again. Now because of the rep and fleet system, the market tends to have more minor fluctuations.

Dilithium is 1000 times more useful with the market low, so the only players that suffer are cash-spending hoarders. I'm fine with that.

As always, my concern with this matter is supporting my Fleet.

Most of the projects require significant injections of Dilithium.

And being one of the major contributors, I'd use the Dil exchange to buy some when and if needed.

And that's not counting my personal needs, like items for my ship, crafting and so on.

At the old price, I was perfectly happy to buy Dil whenever it was needed.

But now, it's too costly for me to do so for anything other then special occassions.

Which hurts Cryptic, because I'm not buying Zen as often as I used to.

And I know one other player who pointblank refuses to trade Zen for Dil until the price goes back to what it was.
