Don't. The ship is garbage and its boff stations are obsolete. Get a sci vesta instead.
Theres an alleged rumor of a new vulcan ship coming soon...but you can bet your rear end it will be catered to the current dps-centric gameplay so probably a surak class battlecruiser not a science ship.
Lookup any of the old nebula fits and they can be adopted to the D'Kyr just fine. With some good planning you can make it passable (ie it will pull it's fair share in STFs) and you can have lots of fun. If you want to fly it, fly it.
It is unfortunate that the Vesta line is just too damn good. There is no reason to buy any of the fleet-level science vessels as the Vesta can do all their jobs better. Cryptic really needs to give the fleet sci ships some love.
^ thats the problem. You can roleplay in your dinky vulcan ship but you will be utterly ineffective compared to the vesta or even science odyssey.
Sci ships are dead and will remain dead. Cryptic doesn't give a rat's TRIBBLE about roles in the game. DPS and tanking is all there is now. Thats why the Vesta is king ...it DPS's like a tac cruiser, tanks like a cruiser and can do a few ineffective science tricks (though mostly its sci slots are reserved for sci tanking abilities). Oh and the aux cannons of course...and their nifty turn rate to aim them.
Before the game went F2P it was balanced and sci had a crucial role. Now that they are microtransaction based they nerfed sci into uselessness because they can monetize damage consoles, ships, etc easier. The game's current state is proof enough of it.
The whole vesta pack? If you have the zen (I hope you grinded it rather than pay real money for it) then yes. The whole pack lets you stack their special consoles into any hull and have ridiculously powerful abilities.
Personally I would've chosen an Ezri Dax in bikini boff unique Vesta pack reward
I have made a new vulcan Sci captain. I kinda want to use her as a role playing character.
Right now im thinking of buying the D'kyr but so far i haven't found any good builds for it.
Can anyone help me with it? It is unique ship but is the ship worth it?
Are there any other ship that is good for an sci captain?
(Currently) looking for a PVE build that can survive during PVP
any suggestion / information is welcome !
Thank you
i had this ship once upon a time. it was a fun ship and i really liked it, but i out grew it very fast. the D'Kyr would not last a second in PVP and you never see them in PVP for that reason.
if you can afford it, I would recommend the wells science ship.
I actually enjoy the D'Kyr. The Boff layout is not my problem with it, more like the visual glitches. The ring ruberbands when detatching the shuttle, and the right warp nacelle graphics are missing so you get left warp trails only. As a ship it performs well though. Science abilities are not dead, they just require more know-how than DPS. One of the problems people run into is skilling and equipping for weapon damage and neglecting the science abilities that make it work. I do not own the Vesta. I may buy t, but not for the Dual Heavy Cannons, I prefer a wider arc.
The D'Kyr is a better tank than the Nebula and turns better. If you are not OCD and can endure the graphical errors, I would give it a try.
Tac BO: tac team 1, attack pattern beta/delta
Engineer BO: eng team 1, emergency power shields 2, warp plasma 1/aux to structural/dampeners 1
Science abilities: polarize hull 1, hazard emitters, transfer shield strength
That leaves a lot of open slots for whatever focus you want. Tykens rift 3 can shut down a cube pretty good and energy siphon can keep it down. Tractor repulsors do good damage to a cube and can save the optional on Infected or Khitomer Accord.
Viral matrix is powerful in PvP as is a fully specced and full auxiliary power feedback pulse.
Check out the PvP section for some professional science builds if you want, or have fun experimenting along the way.
My best advice is play science ships while leveling up and learn if you like the style.

Thank you all for your advise, Im sad to hear that the ship have so much graphic issues and so on. I would think they would fix it by now. ( 7 seasons away)
I will see, i heard that there will be a new vulcan ship. but more tactical based. When is a ETA on that?
STO is getting depressing again, everything revolves on money. and people dont talk much ingame, -_- i never thought an MMO to be soo quite lols.
But i will see, im still lvling up my Sci captain very slowly.
Thanks again. Any builds for PVE? i wanna dominate STFs and other pve i hardly PVP so im kinda good with that

It is a sad thing to hear, that Sci has no love. i would thought that STO would run on Sci >.> other wise no warp ? :P
