Need advice on third Tac BOFF ability

s1ckbeards1ckbeard Member Posts: 0 Arc User
Running an excelsior-r with DBBs and turrets.

My tac office has TT1, BO2 and APO

I'm thinking of dropping the APO and putting in FAW3. I'm wondering that given cooldowns and that APO doesnt give a damage boost, will FAW increase my DPS enough to make the difference.

I do like the speed/turn rate I get out of APO though.. Really stuck on this - thoughts?

last I checked APO I gave +10% damage strength for 10 seconds

FAW III on the other hand Upgrades your next beam attack by 40% DPS improvement (5 attacks, each attack improved by ~12%) - but is only trainable by Captain.

If you're not flying an escort, I would think you're not a TAC captain, so you would need to find one to train in FAW III

If memory serves correctly, DBB are affected by CRF, so I would actually go with CRF II - which will improve all firing for the next 10 seconds, by about 40% and has a 30s cooldown.

Also - there is a 15 second CD started on each BO and FAW when one is activated. Therefore eliminating the use of a bridge officer slot for 15 seconds.

    I'm tac :-P

But CRF is only for Cannons, DBB + FAW can be a mean front attack

There is a CD on that entire BOFF when I use those? I guess that's not a big deal cause TT would already be running

I'll have to take a look at my build and see if my CRF is buffing my DBB, or just my DHCs.

And if you're a TAC, then why are you not flying a TAC/DPS ship?

You'd probably get more DPS out of cannons on a TAC ship. But maybe you're not going to DPS here.

I'm tac cause I like it, not real need to be in an escort.. I like cruisers better

I thought about a single cannon build... still might try that out

I've run the Fleet Excel R successfully as an all cannon build. I am a tac captain as well and though I presently fly a mobius, like yourself, I always preferred Cruisers to most escorts. That being said, there is no reason why you cant put together a successful build that, although wont give as much DPS perhaps as an escort, will nevertheless hold your own in both STF Elites (including defending the time gate alone) and or even PVP if you build properly both your ship and skill tree.

In the search section type in Excelsior Build (or similar). Tons of threads on how to go about doing this. Good luck. :)
