Go to your bridge, you should be able to slot/change boffs in there.

There's a workaround for the bugged Red Alerts and 2 min cooldown bug? Also the BOFF workaround seems to be "try going to your bridge, fleet starbase, inside the fleet starbase, Memory Alpha or any other random location, try relogging or switching ships, etc."

I've been in a working Tau Dewa Red Alert only 3-4 times. How did those game breaking bugs get past testing?

What's this 2 minute cooldown bug you're all talking about? I've yet to run into it though I've had a Romulan ship give me a 5 minute cooldown on everything... even Science Team...
*sings* "I like Gammera! He's so neat!!! He is full of turtle meat!!!"

"Hah! You are doomed! You're only armed with that pathetic excuse for a musical instrument!!!" *the Savage Beast moments before Lonnehart the Bard used music to soothe him... then beat him to death with his Fat Lute*

Every power you have goes on a 2 minute cooldown. You can't even fire weapons or balance shields and dying doesn't make it go away either. Understandably it's pretty bad when it happens during an STF or other time limited fight.

I had something like that happen to me once in a Borg fight. It also screwed my flight control, giving me the same turn rate that you get while in slipstream. I was using a DHC Escort, too. Guess how useful I was to my team?

It would be nice if the "40+ people working on STO" would be assigned to QA/bug fixing. The BOFF assignment bug is exceptionally irritating.

    It would seem nice.

It would also mean no new content, plus you have those of said 40 who are graphic designers and writers, not coders so they can't fix bugs. Animators who are limited to animation bugs and the less than obvious problem that most of the time it can be harder to fix minor bugs without accidently causing new bugs than it can be to leave them in place until someone has some time to tackle it.

Interestingly, the bugs that cryptic fixes always seems to be the ones that are player friendly.

For example - Back when season 6 started there was a player friendly bug in colony invasion. When you healed/beamed up an injured colonist they would just stay there and the entire team could scan the 3 injured colonist giving everyone extra fleet marks, they fixed that bug within the week. There is also another bug in colony invasion. When you get hit while scanning/beaming out the diplomat you lose the bonus objeective fleet marks, even if you re-scan the diplomat again. Over half a year later that bug has yet to be fixed.

I suppose it could be becasue the latter bug would require extensive re-coding of the map, it's hard not to be a little cynical, though.

While the current crop of bugs, like the Bridge Officer Station bug can be annoying its only been in existence for 3 days, 2 of those days being a weekend. OP makes it sound like its been in existence since the start of the game.

Give STO a break and go outside for a bit. I'm sure it will be fixed next couple of days.

The Boff bug isn't new, my KDF alts have suffered from it off and on for nearly six months, if that's it hit the FED side then maybe it'll finally get fixed, mind you I've had a broken chat with both FED & KDF since S7, and they still haven't fixed that.

TBH this game has way to many bugs, so many that it makes you wonder what that lot on Tribble are doing, coz it sure as hell isn't beta testing.

Part of this is Cryptic's fault, so I don't blame people for getting impatient about this. Every season has brought on new bugs that just seem to be swept under the radar by whoever the programmers are at Cryptic. Eventually this mentality was going to catch up with them, and it has. Stop putting out poor quality patches and do some quality control for once.

Currently we get new content (Content is defined in this context as either new systems added to the game (this does include the Starbase and Reputation systems) or in the form of new missions) every 5-6 months in the worst case scenario, (I.e. no anniversary or FEs released in the mean time) with the games Seasons.

If they dropped everything to work on every bug until they had a bug free game, we'd probably get our next content update in 2015, if we're lucky and every bug is fixed without creating new bugs, realistically we're looking at 2018-2020.

    So yes, we'd notice.

That's the same justification that has allowed them to create sloppy work since 2010. No, they can make content, even if it's unplayable! All I care about are my new shinies no matter how buggy and glitchy they are.

I had a bug the was like this one except my weapons would still fire but I had no flight control what so ever and could only fly in a straight line, for me this only seems to happen while running ISE.

So it's ok for content to be poorly designed, sloppily constructed and in some cases completely broken because they throw a bone in the player's direction twice a year?

    I think not.

Cryptic doesn't get to use it's own incompetence as an excuse for not dealing with it's inability to deliver on a reasonable timeframe or to deliver a product that isn't borked to high hell.

So let me get this straight, you'd rather sit back and watch this game literally die rather than put up with the bugs, the most gamebreaking of which are usually fixed by the following Thursday if not before.

Because that's what would happen if we got no content until 2015, everyone would get fed up and leave and PWE would just shut the game down.

With your mentality, the game dies anyways so who has the better plan? If the bugs keep piling up as they have, there will be a moment when the playerbase can't take it anymore and just quits. Are you admitting to me that you'd rather have a broken and sloppily programmed game than a quality one because you're willing to put up with the status quo?

Edit: so as not to derail the thread, I also have had problems with fleet chat and zone chat. Sometimes I type stuff into them and nothing shows up. Red alerts have been broken since the day they were introduced, and they still haven't fixed them. I've given up on ever getting a fix for them.

I never said don't fix bugs, I just don't want to see a massive content drought, worse than the one under Atari, just to fix all the bugs in the game that people demand are fixed.

yet the dev team is larger than it's been in a while and we're still worried about content droughts. That's sad.

Edit: And what's to say that the next season won't introduce a game breaking bug that will tick you off? Don't expect much sympathy from us if you make a complaint thread about it.

I'm not worried about a content drought, I'm just pointing out reasons for why putting all the staff on QA and bug fixes is a bad idea.

A lot of us suspect the GM reporting is broken. Have you filed a bug report within the last six months because I have? Most people aren't getting responses or the response they do get makes no sense b/c there is no evidence that a human GM actually looked at their ticket submission. The same happened to me. Filed a bug report that took 2 weeks to get addressed. What was the answer? Your ticket was resolved but they didn't fix my problem and it doesn't look like anybody actually looked at it.

Bug reports don't get replies and are usually automatically marked as resolved. This is by design to speed up the QA process for bugs.

The only tickets that get replies are the Request GM help tickets.
