XBOX 360 Controller?

I have heard that you can use an XBOX controller to play this game instead of the keyboard. Can anyone tell me how to do that?

Thanks.

Get an X-Box 360 controller with a USB connector. Plug that right up there. The joysticks are already set up to work, no problems there. X, Y, B are 1, 2, and 3 already. A is jump. And beyond that you must change and set all the other keys. I prefer X-Box 360 in RPG mode for on the ground and it runs like Mass Effect. In space I drop the controller and use the keyboard, and it still works.

    This begs the following question:

How would one map the multitude of BOff space powers to a such a controller?

I don't use a controller myself, but I'd have to guess that a trigger or bumper would act as a "switch" between trays, or something...

This is where a Wii U client would come in handy. That tablet-pad-thing would be perfect for MMO power trays and hotbars. No hassles with buttons, just tap whatever you want whenever you want it. No reason that shield rebalancing and throttle controls couldn't be moved to the pad as well, freeing up more screen real estate for other HUD elements.

Too bad Nintendo will never go for it unless the words "Monster Hunter" are on the box. But if the Wii U controller can be made to work in a Windows environment the same way other console controllers can, who knows.
    Relax.

Does the controller have to be USB? I have a wireless 360 and would like to use that.

the wireless ones need a.....USB antennae in order to work.

otherwise...where would the signal broadcast to ?

I do have the antenna, obviously. I thought there might be some reason it had to be hardwired into the PC. I'm a noob, just signed up, so I haven't even played withe the keyboard yet, but flying a ship and a controller go together, in my mind anyway.

There's a STICKY about keybinding a 360 controller. I suggest you start there.

If you want something quick and dirty, send me a PM and I'll shoot you a link to the keybind I posted on our fleet website. If you copy/paste that you'll be stuck using the controller like I do though ;)
