Lunar Landers for the Academy Garden

Is it possible that the American and Sovier Lunar Landers be added to the garden? I think they would be good addtions.

For the plaque in from of the LEM, it could read "Dedicated by the class of 2369 on the 400th anniversary: In memory of all the brave men of Project Apollo."

For the LK Lander plaque, it could read: "Dedicated by the class of 2361: In memory of all the brave men and women of the Soviet Space Program."

I picked 1961 because that was the year Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space. Also, a connection could be be made that Worf was the one who proposed dedicating an LK Lander in the garden as that was his class and he did grow up in the old Soviet Union.

Yes, we have seen the academy several times. That doesn't mean they night not be there.

Second, while the bases of several Apollo landers are still on the moon, they are not complete LEMs. Also, the LK Lander never actually made it to the moon. The Zond spacecraft was never fully successful and as such an LK lander never left Earth Orbit.

I would still like to see some kind of tribute to the early space program pioneers. It seems a lunar social zone is not going to arrive any time soon.

I'm with f2pdrakon on this one.

As there is no canonical evidence for monuments specific to the Apollo/Zond program in the Academy grounds, I don't see a reason for them to be there in-game.

Also, why specifically the moon landings/Soviet space program, over other events of equal importance like Mercury/Gemini/Space Shuttle/Mir/ISS/XCV Enterprise? You may be tempted to ask for the whole lot, but bear in mind it's an Academy, not a Museum.

The most appropriate place for a moon landing memorial would be at the canonical Tranquility Base Shipyards* itself on the moon - have an pressurized tunnel go past the remains of the Apollo LEM as part of a social map, with a holographic projection of the LEM Ascent stage over the lander and whatnot.

*The TOS Defiant was built at Tranquility Base.

I like the idea of a moon social area or ship yard.. as a permanent place to go when re-designing the look of your ship..

A social area on the Moon sounds fun. If there were other amenities there, and duplicates of the Particle Fragment/Path to 2413 rotating events on the Moon, I would go there.

While we have not seen anything on the "grounds" of the Academy, an idea might be for one of the buildings to be an aerospace museum, with models of the landers, spacecraft and probes for the cadets to study and learn from. Imagine walking into building 3 and seeing an X-15 full scale model poised above you, or one of the Space Shuttles. Won't see it in game, but it would be cool.

    Are you talking about Luna?

You all insist on still calling it "The Moon" like it's the only one. :D

Oh, and I think it would be a great idea. But not outside, they should make a museum building to house it. You could actually learn there and take assignments just like the "Path to 2409".

They could probably borrow or replicate the Phoenix from the Smithsonian as well while they're at it.
