MACO vs Adapted MACO

devencombsdevencombs Member Posts: 225 Arc User
I just noticed that the reputation store sells two different sets of MACO space gear: MACO and Adapted MACO. MACO of course has the heavy graviton beam, but the Adapted MACO has mask energy field. What is mask energy field all about and how do both sets compare to each other?

I have no idea how the space sets really are, but mask energy field is a rather neat ability that works like a AOE mask energy signature. Do it right and you can turn an entire fleet of ships almost invisible. :P

So Adapted is better for team play at least. But since I use the Borg set I'm not really an authority. :P

The Federation Adapted Set is just the Klingon Honor Guard Set and vice version, where the Klingon Adapted set is the Federation MACO set. This is for both Space and Ground.

Mask Energy Field is really worthless unless you participate in PvP, but gives a few seconds of a defensive buff.

The Honor Guard / Adapted MACO set has bonuses to Projectiles and has access to Covarient ships (more bleedthrough, but more HPs). While the MACO / Adapted HG has access to the Graviton Beam and Resiliant shields.

I don't believe so. I think it's a complete copy stat-wise of the normal Honor Guard Mk XII.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

Adapted MACO is a complete copy stat-wise of Honor Guard Mk XII just like Adapted Honor Guard is a complete copy stat-wise of MACO Mk XII. Although I prefer the look of the Adapted MACO over MACO and Honor Guard. Its a pity that we can't get Honor Guard uniform from the Photonic Tactical Boff. That look is just vicious over the other Honor Guard costumes.

for me i went adapted maco for shield and engine because of all the special abilities from extra power from engines and the targeting mask for the shields along with the powerful shield boost for being coveriant , then the set bonus of over 13 aux power and 25% to torpedoes , but then the normal maco deflector because i feel its better for a science ship like i have (Vesta) and secondly i dont care for the mask energy , cloaks are ok but dont really need it so bad i would give up the normal maco deflector

Mask Energy field is the perfect ability for carriers.

Want all your fighters to be cloaked for 30 seconds so they can pound that Tactical cube with impunity? Mask Energy Field!

Firing wave after wave of hyper plasma torpedoes that keep getting shot down? Mask Energy Field!

Want your teammates in escorts to love you forever? Mask Energy Field!

Want to turn 1 ship into 10? Mask Energy Field!

Great, that answers my question, but now I have another one. I'm trying to get the regular MACO set for my science character. However, I mistakenly started a project on the Adapted MACO deflector. I didn't realize it until I had wasted two neural processors and some Omega marks. I probably cannot get those back, but is there any way to cancel the project? Otherwise, I'll have to waste several more processors and marks, along with dilithium, expertise, and energy credits.

No way to cancel projects at the moment. The devs might do it eventually, but right now your only choices are to complete the project or ignore the project until you can cancel it. Even when they get it done, then you will not be able to recover the resources you used for the cancelled project.

Yeah, it sucks that I wasted a couple of processors on that one, but oh well. I just need to cancel the project so I don't waste anymore valuable commodities. I hope the devs make that an option soon.

I have a question. Do Maco and Adapted Maco's visuals look the same way?

In space, yes I believe so. The ground sets are different.

I have the full adapted set and I used the other set before getting it, visualy the ship sets look the same, same metallic hue over the ship, glowing deflector dish, all that, only difference is the regular M.A.C.O set gives you that sorta shield like glow around the ship during sector space flight while the adapted set doesn't. As far as the ground sets, no the adapted set has a different look to it.

Yes, I probably would be doing the MACO engine if I didn't have my wep and aux power buffed to max with other things.... it's a good set... I presently have the OMEGA, Adapted MACO, and Assimilated Borg set all Mk XII on my current rom.... but primarily I just run the three piece Assimilated Borg mk XII.... doesn't have much shield points comparitively (especially to the Adapted MACO), but my regen rate is so high it typically does not matter.
