One of STO's oldest and most preeminent RP fleets is open to recruits.

The Alpha Centauri Institute is an independent organization with Starfleet administrative oversight dedicated to advanced scientific and engineering research, diplomacy, and, as needed, security.

Known as the ACI, the Institute was originally constituted as a private research organization. Over time, the membership roster swelled and the Institute's role expanded. It now is a leader among Starfleet organization in promoting friendship among the various races through shared technology use and research. In recent years, the mission statement of the ACI has expanded to included a large Diplomatic Corps as well as an extensive, and tested, group of tactical officers known as the Guard.

In its state today, the ACI is a Starfleet sanctioned Institute with members of hundreds of races across various cultural and political backgrounds. Starfleet officers, non-allied diplomats, civilian researchers, and contractors work together within the ACI, brought together by a common goal: the advancement of technology and the extension of peaceful cooperation throughout the quadrant.

Fleet Information:

The Alpha Centauri Institute is a Star Trek Online fleet of players who wish to bring a fun, yet structured and authentic, Star Trek role playing experience to its members and allies. The ACI has been around since the game was in Beta and has proven itself to be one of the most stable and respected fleets in STO with a long list of active and former members.

Our fleet is small but dedicated, with players in multiple time zones. The primary goal of the ACI is to provide an RP environment and support each other in RP, but game play and other non-RP activities are encouraged and supported as well. We are friendly, mature, and respectful; we are a no-drama organization. The ACI is a selective fleet looking for the best RP members of the STO community; players with a true sense of their characters' place in the Star Trek universe that also enjoy game-play and a supportive environment to build their stories while achieving game-oriented results for their characters and the fleet.

We have featured ongoing character storylines and plots that range from small development stories, to group actions and major plots that involve most of the fleet. In the past, the ACI has performed RP-episodes that are member scripted and we welcome story ideas submitted to our Board of Directors. Most of our role-play, however, is generated on-the-fly in response to character's needs, stories, and to in-game or forum content.

We encourage, and conduct, Forum role-play as an excellent way to expand on a character's background and current status; many of our more involved storylines include Forum elements to add spice and color to the in-game role-play experience. Additionally, many of our players engage in Forum role-play on their own with personal plots and stories that add to character development and Fleet coordination.

We also maintain a Wiki site (http://aci.wikia.com/wiki/Alpha_Centauri_Institute_Wiki) devoted to our Fleet. The site is a collaborative effort and allows each member to expand their characters' profiles and histories. It also allows the fleet to record the various NPCs and events that occur during our episodes, adding to the immersive quality of the fleet's RP experience.

Contact Information:

If you would like to know more about the Alpha Centauri Institute, you can find a great deal more about us, our fleet, and our mission at our website http://aci.guildportal.com, or by approaching any ACI member you see in-game.

If you are interested in applying, please approach a member in-character in-game or email @WereWolf359 with your interest and to arrange a meeting.

For a look at what our rules are that govern our role-play and conduct, be sure to read our Regulations page. For recruitment information, and what we require for potential applicants, be sure to read our Recruiting page. Lastly, to get an idea of how we role-play and our style and level of play, be sure to read our Forums - particularly our Ten Forward board, where all our Forum role-play is conducted.

RP Fleets in STO can be difficult to find, or tightly restricted groups with a narrow definition of RP. Some fleets want to control your characters and their stories. Not the ACI.

All types of RP and characters are welcome as we seek to expand the boundaries of Trek and RP with STO. If you like no-drama, mature RP and game-play, visit us today at http://aci.guildportal.com

The ACI about 20-25 active players, many with active alts, in timezones across North America and Europe. Our members have varied and changeable work and life schedules. Like Starfleet captains, you might go for periods of time in the vast reaches of space without running into other officers because of these schedules, but the fleet is always out there, backing you up and ready to assist in RP or game-objectives.

Interested officers should check out our website or PM me in-game @WereWolf359.

ACI declassified news report Stardate: 90831.04

Renowned throughout Starfleet and the Federation for its research capabilities and for being a leader in scientific exchanges with new cultures and technologies, the Alpha Centauri Institute accepts a request from the Federation Council, that ACI-01, the home starbase of the Institute, be the first Federation facilities to test the integration of technologies from a new prospective Federation member, the Valisi. More than even the Vulcans, the Valisi value logic, deduction, and science as the path to truth and enlightenment. More than even the Bynars, they are astounding masters of computer programming and theoretical mathematics and the potential benefits of Valisi programming include multiplying standard Federation computing power nearly three-fold. But the road to integration is rough, with many obstacles to be overcome, not the least of which is the Valisi's peculiar mix of science, logic, technology, and religion.
In preparation for the project, officers of the ACI, including Captains Moon, Dandin Hansen, Leasor, Anoyda, and Syeisi gather on ACI-01 for a briefing from Federation Political Advisor, Mosha Telev, father of the ACI's own Admiral Telev. Stressing the value of the Valisi programming skills, Advisor Telev makes clear that cooperation is crucial and could provide the Federation with massive advantages in computing power. Telev's briefing is followed by further elaborations on Valisi culture from V'lak, a Vulcan liason to the Valisi government. After all questions are answered, Bamis, a Logician Second-Level arrives on the station to begin upgrades.
Despite concerns about security and the need to take some systems off-line during the program uploade, the project proceeds after a brief delay in order to put in place precautions. Shortly after the upload begins, a Gorn raid takes advantage of the lapse in security and attempts to sabotage the upload. The assembled officers beat back the raid only to discover they have been deceived by Bamis, who hopes to turn ACI-01 into a harmonic resonator that will open a rift in space which will destroy everything around it and reduce it to pure information. The officers make frenzied attempts to subdue Bamis and close the rift but are only successful when the eject the stations power core and send it into the rift, sealing it. The station is saved, but crippled, and in the space outside, the USS Turing and a shuttle have been destroyed, while the USS Eureka is fatally damaged.
Bamis is taken into custody, his program deactivated, and his equipment confiscated.
We are currently recruiting extraordinary officers within the Federation and Free Romulans.
