I would say the next ship be a Tactical Cruiser. We have had the Vesta for Science and the Ambassador for engineers. It time fot Tactical to get something as some are tallking about the A why not a Tac version of it with phaser emitters instead of arrays.

There would be more Tac consol slots and BO stations. The KDF version with be Tac Ktinga.

Mod can you please fix my title to Tactical.Thanks.

The Excelsior, the Sovereign Refit, and the Tactical Odyssey are all Tac heavy cruisers. The standard Sovereign, the Galaxy Dreadnaught, and now the Ambassador are cruisers with a tactical lean. That's not even touching the KDF or the faction neutral cruisers.

I think we're good for Tactical cruisers for awhile.

Unless you're talking about a cruiser with a commander tactical station? Then the question becomes would a cruiser without a commander engineer station really still be a cruiser?

We already have countless cruisers. Considering the Ody and the Vesta, the next logical choice would be an Escort bundle, which I am not going to buy, since I am stuck with countless Escorts already and cannot get rid of them.

How about a Yeager class(Intrepid-variant light cruiser) from DS9. It can be a long range tactical vessel. It would make sense the ship was made in time of war

News just in: The next Tactical "Cruiser"

Sadly it will be a lockbox item and inorder to get full functionality you will need full Assimilated sets.

There's an andorian ship incoming soon(TM). That's likely to be an escort.

I think what you want is a destroyer class ship, not a cruiser.

They are more sturdy than escorts, but more maneuverable than than cruisers with more firepower because of cannons.

At the moment Federation has access to 2 destroyers: Chimera class (for Lifers and 1000 day vets) and the Moebius class from exchange or Lobi store.

I think what they want is a ship with the firepower and maneuverability of an escort with the hull and shield modifiers of a cruiser.

And if I posted my first thought to that idea, I'd probably get a "telling off" from someone with a yellow name ;)

With a turn rate of 10. Never mind escorts, a Miranda will out-turn it

Yes, a Andorian escort which is supposed to be released before March so with some luck we should hear something about it in the next couple weeks.

I don't really see why people are saying we don't need an Escort threepack, which I think we do.

Even if it ''weren't needed'', there's a 3 pack Cruiser, the Odyssey, a 3 pack Sci Vessel, the Vesta, the next pack should obviously be a 3 pack Escort.

You have my vote! I would take the Temporal Destroyer (or the bug ship) and just reskin it as the Enterprise A Connie....

I'm allowed to dream, aren't I? It would be epic... ah well.

My bad. Should be more precise and say Heavy Destroyer. Aquarius has a tinfoil hull even compared to a regular escort. That one is basically a frigatte.

Which begs the question of whether we need a total revamp of the ship naming convention to accommodate that.

So you'd have both tonnage (e.g. Frigate, Destroyer, Cruiser etc) and mission profile (e.g. Escort, Command Ship, Science Ship etc).

Meh, Cryptic should just bite the bullet and make a Starfleet battleship.

The lines between Escort, Cruiser and Science are blurring beyond recognition with the endless amount of ship station layouts and the inclusion of Alien warships in the mix.
If the Federation is fine with captains flying enemy warships that include Jem Hadar Dreadnaughts then you have no grounds to hold back on Starfleet simply making their own.

The Chimera was a nice touch and I actually liked her but they should simply come out with a Federation ships that match the layouts of the enemy ships they are selling.

Of course, anyone with a brain and experience with Cryptic greed will know they wont do this because it would make those alien ships less appealing.
Imagine if Cryptic came out with a legitimate equivelent to the Bug Ship which then can be used as fighters for the Dreadnaught... - the tears alone would be hilarious.

    I say enough cruisers.

and the vesta was a hybrid ship if i recall, not a true cruiser or sci ship but a mix of the two.

aside from the Atrox, Vesta and Armitage, most of the C-store ships have been cruisers.

Well if there really needs to be a tac cruiser then they should swap out the Lt cmdr eng boff slot on the Galaxy-X (Dreadnought cruiser) with a Lt cmdr tac boff slot.

Is this a desire because there is some niche you feel the existing 6 escort types can't already fill and it would add diversity to the class and enhance their ability in their role? Or is this because you want an account-wide-unlock escort with 10 console slots, universal boffs, and a 3-piece set, all in the name of enhanced superiority or 'fairness?'
