Quoting from the State of the Game Posting:
Finally unveiling the Borg Queen in the Borg STF finale, "Into the Hive."
I knew Hive was a big event, going up against the queen and all, but I didn't quite realize just what it meant, until I read that.
This has left me a little concerned. I had hoped Hive was the start of something good, not an end. I even allowed myself to dream that maybe we might get a new STF with each season. While I enjoy many aspects of this game, it is without a doubt STFs that keep me striving for bigger and better methods of attack and survival. Not many other instances in this game in which you need top quality gear.
Of course, they may surprise me with some other type of STF, other than Borg. However, if this is indeed all we will ever see for
Elite end game content, I am saddened.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

The Hive was for me was anticlimactic, in development for so long and that was what we got. It was fun, but less than what I expected. We need better and tougher STFs as they are supposed to be the hardest and most challenging missions STO has to offer.
Undine STFs are on the horizon.
If only we had somewhere to start - use as a reference - for new STFs...something that didn't require us to start from scratch, and as a bonus, didn't really have a reliable, easy way to grind marks...yet didn't have to do with the Borg...
Awoken Dead
Now shaddup about the queues, it's a BUG
Personnally, I despise the Undine because as an enemy they are hilariously overplayed and their impact on the actual game story largely goes nowhere with little explanation.
Of course... if Cryptic would actually get away from the Borg / Romulan stuff then we might see delivery of the trailing Iconian plot thread.
Replay one of the Borg missions. Watch what Obex does to the Borg cube. Rethink your bet.
Put your enemy difficulty on elite, THEN call them hilarious.
As for their impact on the story? They are the CAUSE of the story. To recap:
Undine infiltrated Starfleet, made Starfleet say no to helping the KDF find the Undine infiltration, which made the KDF withdraw from the Khitomer Accord treaty, which caused the war with the Federation in the first place. The Undine also infiltrated the Klingon Empire and caused even more instability with the Federation even before the war started. Sooo... yeah... they have had a rather MAJOR impact on the story.
Big deal, it all happens off screen and has minimal impact on the actual players until they get to the Borg Front. You could literally swap out 'Undine' and put in 'Founder' to get the exact same story AND it would resonate more because you have the Dominion DS9 backstory to play with.
The Undine story has been dead for nearly three years with no indication it is going to go anywhere soon.
I beg to differ. You fight undine infiltrators a few times during the Klingon Front episode arc, again during the Romulan arc, and again during the Borg and Undine arcs.
And tbh, the Dominion and the Founders have no reason to do what the Undine did. They aren't paranoid or overly aggressive. They have no reason to be, they rule the Gamma Quadrant.
This is not the end. She is Borg. She is eternal.
And no Iconian-STF pls. It would crush there status of the grey eminence and they would seem as dumb as the borg.
