While some might be tempted to call these ships dated by the standards of more modern starships, their classic hull configurations and resilient internal specifications allow them to remain strong front-line contenders in any deep space exploration assignment or armed conflict.

Fine.. O'Brien and Geordi's revolutionary modular ship construction system has made the need to completely phase out old hulls more or less obsolete. Tier 5-up away.

Just...just don't go too overboard. Be not blinded by nostalgia nerds, keep the torch burning for spiffy new 25th-century designs.

That is all I ask.

It's been pretty balanced for the last year, at least in terms of actual Fed ships. We've had the Ambassador (old), Vesta (new), Armitage (Old), Chimera (new), and Ody (new).

True enough, and I'm glad for it. If they ever do a T5 miranda or T5 connie I hope they add new-age skins for them (disappointing that they didn't do so for like the Steamrunner/Excelsior/Ambassador etc.) Especially the Steamrunner since they already had a "similar" skin in the Norway Heavy Escort (an Akira variant skin that's compatible with the HEC.

Relax, we're still never going to get a T5 Constitution class.

DO not be so sure about that. I can already see "Original Series Lockbox" .....money money money money, who cares about canon and franchise :P

Does this mean we can get a galaxy that is more tactical focussed yet?

*looks at T5 Excelsior, an even older design that's been in the game for a while now*
    unangbangkay, what's your point?

I've known this for a while, but it took that quote to make me give up on the "old ships must be inferior" sentiment.

I feel strangely zen about it now.

Been here since headstart and it's taken me a while for this too.
Ever since the appearance of the Excelsior I've been working on it..
I do certainly hope you can get that zen feeling to extend to other things as well.

I'm pretty sure the money thrown at that would be amazing.

It would have the lowest drop rate ever. To maximise profit. And they would be right to do it exactly like that. A Tier 5 Connie? Thats more than just ridiculous.

It has been stated by Gecko that CBS categorically refuses the idea of a Tier5 Connie.

Armitage is not old maybe the akira is but is not modeled after that.

Those "nerds" are some of the most loyal (albeit sometimes also the most unpleasant) players. It's only fair to bring up older ships now and then. However I do agree that from gameplay the Ambassador is pretty much useless.

its not as simple as how much money would they make off of a t5 connie, or a connie lock box. the devs have said time and time again that cbs has put the final "NO" on it.. you will not see a t5 connie. you might see something get close to it. but it will most likely not happen.. i wont say with 100 percent sureness cause i have seen dumber things happen in this game.. but im 90 percent posotive you wont see one.

heres a hint as to it as well.. (if they were gonna do it, they would have already done it)..

and as far as there being fans of it, and nastalgic players wanting it.. it is in game.. and it is were it should be.. if you want to fly it, then fly it. you will have the same disadvantages as a connie in this timeline would have.. there for you will have a more "canon" expeprience lol...

yeah. most likely, if they ever make a "fleet cruiser retrofit" it will be either 1. a completely new ship with the standard "2 nacelles, saucer and a secondary hull with struts tying the three together in something that looks like the iconic constitution class from the side". or 2. figuring out how to make the current cruisers updatable without including the connie skin."

If you take the blue print of a building from the Renaissance and build it using present-day materials, furnishings and amenities, it'll be a modern-day building with Renaissance look. Same thing here. The outer shell is just a recognizable look; the ships themselves are still made of 25th century materials.

Once upon a time we could say the same thing about the Galaxy being in T4, where it belongs. Look what happened there.
