If your going to post something negitive or bag on people who post here, please dont. I for one really like this game a lot. I started playing around the time when the 2nd anny started, and have played almost every day since then. Is the game perfect, for some yes, for some no. To spend or not to spend money on it is everyones choice.
Tell me here what you think positive of the game, what is your favorite thing to do. or ship to fly. Maybe what content you would like to see added to the game. I am looking for positive feedback here, nothing more. I will keep playing till they close it down.
I spent a good six to eight hours this weekend just playing the missions, using the XP boost to get a toon from Captain to VA. And you know what, it was fun! The story missions are all decent, especially when you haven't done them in a while, and the gameplay is good.
I'm still going to spend most of my effort in the Foundry, but really the core game here is quite fun if you just don't worry about stuff and let it be fun.
I still really like this game after 3 years of playing it.

Sometimes I go to bed at 4am because some previous activity (work/exercise) took longer than usual and I can't just skip of DOFF reset.
Thanks Heretic. ><

It's a fun game. I wish I had something to buy with real money so I can reward the devs properly like I did with Champions Online. (Nothing changes the gameplay here like buying an AT or free form does in CO. My tactics are similar if I'm in a Defiant, Intrepid, or Galaxy Class because they don't need to be different: Shoot until dead. Occasionally buff shields. Try to play an Inferno like a Behemoth in CO? You so dead.)
I just started playing this. I'm stuck on the Borg tutorial mission. I can't seem to disable the arrays. I know you're supposed to walk up to them after you get the shield down but nothing happens. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. After awhile the shield goes back up and I get stuck inside the shield and then the Borg come back and I have to die and respawn.
Must be something wrong with game. I love Star Trek and Star Trek games but I'm not a fan of these World of W a r c r a f t type games. I played that for about 20 minutes years ago and got sick of it, not my cup of tea. I want to like this game but I just feel overwhelmed with it and get the same w a r c r a f t feel that I didn't like in this type of game. Also, and I don't mind spending money on this game if I came to enjoy it, like a lifetime membership, but what I won't be doing is buying credits all the time to unlock things. So how often do you have to unlock something?
Well, for now I can't play it any more as I can't continue until I beat this Borg mission, it seems stuck. I think I was stuck in the shield so I guess when I get back in the game, that's where I'll be, it's done that a few times already.
Overall, I like this game. Coming from BSGO (by the way, why on Kobol did they nerf the strikes?!?), it's a vast improvement on content, immersion, realism, etc. I've met some of the most wonderful people on STO, and they've changed my life.
Going back to the game itself. I don't like Season 7 overall, but I do enjoy the new content that was put out in Season 7... and Season 6... and F2P. The Foundry is an amazing tool which I'm just beginning to get real comfortable with. And the amount of content in the STO universe is simply mind-boggling.
I must say, the early reviews of this game as a "bug-ridden, piece of garbage" don't at all reflect the current state of the game. It's a wonderful creation.

Missing the good ol' days of PvP: Legacy of Romulus to Season 9 My List of Useful Links, Recently Updated November 25 2017!
I've said it before...this is easily my favorite MMO.
The mix of ground and space combat.
Being able to create your own crew.
The Doff system. It's something I always overlook while playing regular content...but it's just another piece to the great puzzle. Taking a quick break...logging off for the night...start a nice chain of Doff missions to keep progressing while not online. What's not to like? (also...while superficial...I really like be able to assign my created crew as certain Department Heads)
The variety of missions...episodes/explore/patrol...not to mention the foundry...there is always something "new" to play.
I enjoy STO inspite of a few annoyances. I tolerate grinding but it is a necessity if I want something and I am happy enough to force myself to get the dilithium I need.
Generally speaking I like the game, though it does have its problems. I will not hide my distaste for the way it has been managed...but in light of that I am in a very good, active fleet, with very good peeps in it. For me that makes up for a lot of shortcomings. So much so that I unsubbed almost a year ago and came back (something I have never done with a MMO before), even resubbed for a gold account...I'll let that speak for itself.
I Play KDF mostly, and I know they will come out with more content on it soon, when that happens I bet you will see a big surge of KDF players. I want to see more ships, and in a way they did that with the breen ship, Dominion carrier, and lobi ships, it gives us a little more to choose from. I am excited about the 3rd anny and the free ships coming out, and I believe that S8 will have a lot of new KDF content.
I started playing in May 2012, got an LTS in June. I've mostly enjoyed myself so far. I think I know when to stop though. Under the old STF loot system, I was getting sick of the missions, so I stopped doing them figuring to wait until the new loot system materialized. I already had a full Assimilated set, a full set of XII AP weapons, and a XII MACO shield so I was pretty satisfied. I ground the TRIBBLE out of fleet events and Nukara when S6 dropped, but have slowed down on it because I'm tired of it. The Foundry and Doffing gives me plenty of marks now. The trick is to not obsess about having every little thing, and change up what you're doing now and then. After maxing out my reps, I started a Klingon. Whole new world over there, had great fun exploring the different types of content available to Klingons (Marauding, empire defense, Pi Canis dailies).
Joining a fleet in preparation for S6 was huge. Much joy has been brought to the game just chatting with the fleeties. Sometimes I barely get anything done in my play time because I spent so much of it in chat. STFs are a lot less annoying with a fleet group too.
Major kudos to Cryptic for making the Foundry one of the most lucrative things to do. There is so much great content there, a lot of it better than the actual featured episodes. Foundry missions are among the rare things in the game where I can lose myself in the world and feel like a Starfleet captain. At that point, the haul of dilithium and fleet marks is almost incidental. I never would've discovered it though if I'd had to spend all my time running the same content over and over for dil and marks.
New Romulus was a good addition. The game needs desperately some kind of minigame or system for "doing science" and "doing engineering" to mitigate the endless "mash F to scan stuff". But, the variety of missions there from scanning things, to combat, to chasing epohhs, to more elaborate story missions was a move in the right direction. I can't wait to see how future adventure zones develop the concepts.
I'm not keen on ground stuff, but I love space combat; STO is the only MMO that I've played for more than a few weeks, and actually come back to even after a brief hiatus (too busy playing other games ).
The space combat is what really makes STO stand apart from other MMO's to me, that and things like the Duty Officer assignments and the greater sense of my ship being my ship with me in command. There's definitely more that could be done, but space combat is very solid and almost infinitely replay-able; even grinding the Tau Dewa sector patrol until I had finished the Reputation projects was never truly boring as even playing the same mission time after time, it never plays exactly as before.
First time I played STO I stuck to cruisers as seemed natural for an engineer, but after my hiatus I decided to grab a Heavy Escort Carrier; it's still engineer friendly, and a great flexible ship, but it changed the way I played so much, and I can switch from dealing damage to giving some minor support to other players to doing a decent job of tanking on a whim, really helps to keep things varied. There's also a strange joy to be had on making even tiny incremental improvements to my build, though seeing bigger changes in action is always welcome too
I was a Diablo II nut many moons ago so the grinding elements don't bug me.
I'm in a good fleet with sane people that make playing more enjoyable. It's a good little community. Most of the veterans are quite helpful and I've learned a lot from them over the last couple months.
I actually think the space combat in this game is excellent for the action it brings.
When I feel like doing story content I usually lean to a Foundry mission these days. They can be hit and miss, but the good Foundry missions are very, very good.
The DOFF system is a fantastic little thing. I thought it would be silly when I first saw what it was but within days it was one of my favourite things about the game. I love the sense of the "little people" on my ship all not being faceless and nameless, and it makes each ship somewhat unique.
Also, I'm the weirdo that likes the story missions more as a KDF. They're all "go here blow things up", and it works much better on that side. Plus I didn't have to do like 30 extra missions to get one Jem'Hadar bridge officer, so KDF wins in a landslide.

This can be a -really fun game-, if you treat it as just that; A game.
If you try to take a game like this one too seriously, you miss out on the fun that really can be had in it. So keep on griping about how much STO sucks, because I'll be RPing, casually PVPing, and occasionally running STFs with my buddies right up until the day the servers finally shut down. ^^

At launch that's exactly what it was! Still had Champion's Online graphics for items lol
It's come a l-o-n-g way since then and I'm glad! Love the space combat, the doff system, the new content (!!!). Fleet starbases made the game MUCH more social. Since PWE took over ...well, thanks for making a so-so game so much better, kudos.
It is a fun game, it's only a game, and users should be aware of the addictive qualities of technology when managing their time spent in the game. Also, I believe too much time and money are required for the periodic bonus rewards. The drop rate for rewards such as the recent HEC should be doubled, AND the cost of keys should be cut in half immediately. Perfect World of CHINA is drawing a lot of CASH directly from AMERICA via this game. STARFLEET!
I like it very much have been here since beta minus a brief rest period where I got to play DCUO and some other betas. Came back one day not expecting much and was sucked right back in lol can't even remember when its been so long.
However unless things grab hold of me soon after the anniversary I have been thinking of restricting my time in game even more. Maybe takeing another break
However unless things grab hold of me soon after the anniversary I have been thinking of restricting my time in game even more. Maybe taking another break
One should always do this with their entertainments in order to keep it fresh. I left for S6 and came back for S7. I've little do do in S7, and unless S8 has more for me than Targ tagging and Fleet stuff, I'll probably wait it out until S9.
It's Star Trek! That peaked my interest from the moment I first heard about the game.
What's most positive to me, is that the developers care about the game.
My favourite thing to do for the past year has been to make videos of the game and share them (see previous posts), and I have to say that New Romulus has been my favourite recent addition to the game.
My favourite ship to fly has to be my Galaxy/Venture hybrid, because it looks so Next Gen.
I would like to see more Adventure Zones added (and they apparently are), and have properly developed interiors where I can place my bridge officers in the seats I choose.
All in all, this game is a dream come true for me, and if all those years ago when I was watching Picard and crew on TV, and Kirk and crew on the movies someone would have told me that one day soon I would be able to create my own crew and ship and send them off on adventures I would have scarcely believed it!
I remember when the concept was first announced in 2000/2001 (??), and the original company went bust. i was very disappointed.
Then in I think early 2010, probably right around launch of the new STO... took me a few weeks to get going... external issues cropped up... then got my subscription in April.
Loved the game then... I've played a couple of Star Trek games, but they always left me wanting more. this, allowed me to create a character with skills (something I missed from my tabletop RPG days), customize a starship and fly it!
I was amazed and enthralled.
Played straight for ten months... then was forced to leave the game... more of those external issues... came back in July of 2012, but always keeping an eye on the game.
Played F2P when I came back, and really loved everything that was done with the game. Reactivated my subscription and this has been my only game ever since.
I can't pinpoint any one thing about the game I love, except for that it is Star Trek. It might not have a lot of what the franchise had... exploration and such. But there is enough to satisfy me for now.
I got into the Fleet system, run my own little fleet, even have a Tier1 starbase, and working on T2. I have about 12 characters, including my original one. three of which are VAs... but don't mind, I am enjoying playing some them thought he story missions again as different careers.
Loved the Winter Wonderland... thought that was really nice. Can't wait for the 3rd anny event. Missed the 2nd, and really did not partake the 1st. Very disappointed about that.
Soory for the wall of text... but to answer the OP question... YES! I do love this game...

I've been RPing since the beginning, and I used to keep a pretty good Captain's log of my accomplishments (need to get back to doing that).
The Pokedoffs currently keep me busy; logging in ~3 hours a day to grind them out. (just a few more clusters to go!
Enthusiastically looking forward to the future of the game.
try asking in "The Academy" man, this is not the place for in game help. Id reply, but then id encourage you to not ask in the right places.
