The Defiant retrofit is a pretty cool ship. Ability to cloak can come in handy. Also if you are in a fleet with tier 3 shipyard, you can get the fleet version for 1 fleet module (another 500 Zen)

Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

Is defiant battle cloak or regular cloak?

It has a normal cloak. It is also a console that you have to use in order to cloak, unlike KDF ships.

If you do get a Fleet Defiant, you can put the cloak on that console.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

I think you can actually put the cloak from the Gal-X onto a Fleet Defiant.

The keyword there is think, obviously. As far as I know, though, they're pretty much the same console.

Last time I checked, Fleet Ship modules cost around 5 million EC on the Exchange, so you don't have to blow all your Zen on them if you have tons of EC.

    1. Yes, the Dreadnaught and Defiant Retrofit's cloak console are one in the same. They can both be seamlessly transferred to either ship and the Fleet variant of the Defiant.

    2. I own a Defiant Retrofit. It's a good ship. I got a couple of videos up on YouTube doing some STF's with it. I normally use my Armitage nowadays, the extra fighter pets are a plus. Also, I've NEVER seen a Federation ship have the Bridge Officer layout of the Defiant Retrofit at all. The only OTHER ship is the Klingon Qin Heavy Raptor.

    3. It's cheaper buying a fleet module (1) from the Exchange and no money involved to get a Fleet variant Defiant. The Fleet variant does not come with a cloaking console.

    4. The cloak is a normal NON-Battle cloak. It can only cloak if you're out of combat. It's good if you wanna get a jump on someone. Other than that, it's sort of useless.

Don't forget, that if you go this route - to set the quality.

A search for a Fleet Ship Module without setting the quality to VR can return prices in the 9-10m+ range. Set the quality, and you'll be looking at 4.5ish. It's one of the items on the Exchange that people take advantage of others with because of the way the search works...

I personally prefer the patrol escort (I have both). It has a lot more survivability -- 4x the crew (which helps all Team abilities), the ensign slot is Engineering (a third tac slot is kind of wasted), more hull.

It doesn't LOOK so much more, but I find in STFs my defiant dies a lot when I can't manage aggro (and, of course, none of the cruisers are equipped to attract it), patrol escort does much better.

In PvP, I suppose cloak and a little more maneuverability is nice, but... eh.

Mirror Patrol Escort would be a good choice. It has a Prometheus (canon) hull configuration, supports MVAM and has the tankiness of the ugly patrol escort.

Can you do the Prometheus model with the Mirror skin or are we stuck with the Phoenix model?

    Fleet Patrol Escort.

Requires tier 1 shipyard. Has the most hull out of any escort (except that new DHEC), good maneuverability, can tank very very well, maintains a still decent amount of firepower. Also has a perfect BOff layout for a full cannon build. Last but not least, comes with the Maelstrom skin, which is VERY nice. Long story short, it's the best escort you can get for 2k zen IMO.

It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once. B)

As an eng the steam runner/blockade runner is the route to go tankier than the patrol escort looks better nice turn and nice damage

    IMHO

Remember 2000 zen will buy you 4 fleet modules, which will get you a Fleet Ship, for an additional 20,000 fleet credits.

Which means you could have the Fleet Patrol with a tier 1 shipyard, Fleet Saber tier 2, Fleet Defiant tier 3, Fleet Advanced tier 4 and Fleet Akira tier 5.
