To craft or to pay the Romulans?

Which plasma beam weapon is better: the craftable MK XI Purple or the Romulan MK XI Purple? The craftable one would be cheaper, but I don't know the stats of the Romulan Mk XI Plasma Beam. Is it worth the extra 10 thousand dilithium or should I just craft my weapons?

Neither, go for fleet weapons if you can. Much cheaper and just as good, if not better :)

Crafting sub-tier-5 Romulan weapons just increases the amount of time it will take you to craft tier-5 Romulan weapons. If you just really really want to waste rarks, do the extra missions to pump up your romrep faster.

Or better yet, don't, so you'll have those rarks for tier 5 stuff.

Depends on which fleet weapons. Advanced fleet weapons are meh since they have [Dmg]x3 + 1 other mod. Usually [Acc] > [CrtH] > [CrtD] > [Dmg], so fleet weapons essentially get 3 of the worst possible mods.

Elite Fleet weapons are the best available but requiers a T5 starbase with a T5 fabricator.

Regarding Romulan space weapons -- They are quite nice, but the primary reason to take plasma now is because the new bonus damage Romulan science consoles. A additional disruptor proc in exchange for [CrtD] is roughly an even trade (like choosing between Antiproton's bonus vs. Disruptor). As a result, I'd say go for the Romulan Disruptor turrets, but go conventional Plasma DHC's if you have a tactical captain (they can take better advantage of [CrtD] mods).

Mark XII versions are 28K dilithium. You'll need to unlock the store as well which will cost you some romulan marks. And, of course, you will need to level up your romulan rep.

Ok, new question. Which is a better weapon: a Romulan Plasma Beam, a Fleet Plasma Beam or a Plasma Disruptor Beam?

Not sure what you're asking, but one of the best weapons in the game in the current patch is the Romulan Experimental Beam Array. Its hypflux plasma dot literally melts borg Negh'Vars in seconds when combined with powerful resist debuffs like FoMM and AP-Beta3. Unfortunately you can only carry 1 per ship.

Which Fleet weapons? Advanced or Elite? If advanced, then they are dead-even with Romulan Mk XII Plasma arrays. Elite Fleet weapons are the best available.

The Plasma Disruptor Beam reward from Past Imperfect. Is it a more effective weapon than the Fleet Plasma Beam or the Romulan Plasma Beam? Not counting the prototype beam because you can only have one of those and I'm looking for a main weapon type.
