Returning player after 2-year break

saucersepsaucersep Member Posts: 30 Arc User
So I started playing again and decided to start over with a new character.

There is lots of new stuff, and I don't mind learning it as I go, but would like advice on one topic : Dilithium Ore gathering.

What is the best way, while leveling, to get the 8000 daily limit?

I have been doing SB 24 (I am lvl 11 btw) and just started doing the 3xKarrat war zones.

Is there anything else I should be doing on a daily basis?

Thanks.

The Breen dailies, the eta eridani sector dailies, the academy particle fragment event, foundry missions with 'investigate officer reports', PvP missions, STFs (at max level)... and some others, but these are the big'uns.

Best way is still to do a STF run.

Since you are only Level 11 ...

In addition to the SB24 and 3XKerrat, at your level, you can

*Explore strange new Worlds from LTNT Grall. 1440 Dil
*The Academy MidTerm in the Northmost Building 480 DIL (Simply google the Path to 2409 for the answers)
*You can also Investigate Officer Reports once every 30 minutes for 980 DIL a pop.

The Eta Eradani Dailies become available after you have done the Devidian Arc.
there are 3. Alhena, Zibal, and another that Franklin Drake gives you. Each of those nets 480.

The Academy Event should be open to you when it is running as well.
I'd say PVP missions but at Lvl 11 your ques would just never pop.

the STFs become available at Lvl 45, and the Breen Dailies once you finish that series of missions.

Make sure you are doing the daily Star Trek Online Lore quest, More info here: http://www.stowiki.org/Lore

Personally I don't even bother to hit it... as I don't trade Dilithium for Zen as it's a total waste of time vs buying it outright with cash.

PWE cards are available from Walmart, Target, etc.. I tell people who normally get me gift cards to random places for the holidays and my birthday to get me those instead. Plastered it on facebook... got 11 thousand Zen for XMAS :D:D:D

    Quite on the contrary.
Now with the market crashed and mere 85 dilithium can be exchanged for 1 zen, as well as just about everything requires dilithium, there's no more any real point in buying zen.
If you need a feature that cost zen (like a ship), you trade in dilithium. Everything else, as said, requires dilithium to buy (and buying zen to sell for dilithium at such low ratios is not worth the $).

Eh perhaps it's because I have all the end game gear that's available to me already. The last major expense was the Advanced Fleet weapons and that was months ago. I imagine I'll have to blow 100K or so when we get elite fleet weapons, but other than very rare big purchases who cares?

What recurring dilithium expenses do you really have?

Edit: Not counting donations to the starbase. I only do those when I feel like it.

Well, since I am the co-founder of my fleet (and a responsible one, unlike so many selfish jerks out there), I DO contribute heavily to the progression of our StarBase.

Other than that, I'd say it's mainly sponsoring alt toons for gear.

I'm also gathering up zen for a Vesta set (takes me about a month to raise 5k, less since the monthly stipend) since I heard so much good about it and I got 2 sci alts which are fairly good scis but weak on dps and I'm a bit tired of their ships (had fun with Luna, was meh with sci oddy, lame with intrepid, I think about trying chimera and I don't feel like wasting my currency on dumb modules for fleet ships).

I also have a wells and mobius that I need to unpack at some point (problem is choosing which toon...since ships are char bound instead of account and the consoles are equally char bound, and no point in using them without both consoles, right? so...one of them is basically going to waste, probably the sci one, I think I'll use them on a klink tac).

Dilithium Mining, during the mining event hour.

The quest itself is on a 20hr count, so the best way to do it is grab the quest, and then do the event every 2 days. Or when the event time matches your play time.

Assuming it's been over 20hr since you picked up the quest, you'll be able to do the mining run twice in a row. With the event bonus, that's 1500x2 dil. 3000 every other day.

(you still need the normal daily quest for the event - the bonus it gives is extra dil, and a free Transwarp out to the mining area.)

Can I do this quest at my level? Where do you get it?

It's level 9+ IIRC (look for Asteroid Mining on the wiki); you can bring up the mission journal to find the event or go to the Vlugta asteroid just south of DS9. The event gets you 1500 dilithium max, or you can do it whenever for 1000 max; you need an EVA suit, which you can get from a vendor next to the quest giver. I recommend you try the "practice mining" at the kiosk right there to make sure you can get above 735 points in the mini-game first.
