I'm pretty picky about ship names, and it bugs me to think that my KDF ship's name is not properly written. I was wanting to name it something along the lines of "M'ossa's Accomplishment", but the best I could come up with was:
I.K.S. M'ossa'Daj ta'
...Which is doubtless incorrect, since I was only going off of a cursory glance through online sources. I took the character's name (M'ossa), added what I read was the suffix for possessive 'his' (Daj), and then what my dubious online resources say is a word for accomplishment (ta'). Is this passable? Can anyone who speaks/writes Klingon properly help me correct the mistakes that I am certain must be there?

Ooo. That looks a lot more reliable than what I was using before. Thanks for the link!
I wonder, looking through the opening sections of that document- Would IKS M'ossa Daj'laH be more correct than IKS M'ossa'Daj laH? Or is neither accurate? I really wish I had time to learn Klingon properly, but between work and classes...

Surely there has to be someone in the KDF faction that actually knows Klingon...
Well, google is always a handy resource if you're stuck, but personally I just use 'random' until I see something I like. I also used to spend ages fussing over a name, but I eventually came to realise that it just wasn't worth the time/effort.
the klingon language its not very accurate i suppose, and some words may mean 2 or 3 same things, i preferred not to complicate myself and named my ships with random words or phrases...
my mirror qin raptor - cha'Do' - "klingon little known bird"
my scourge destroyer - yemwI 'pu' - "sinners"
my shuttle - pegh - "be secret"
my negh var - nguv Qij - "paint in black"
my command bortasqu' - nuH bey' - "pride of weapons"

Fair point.
I'm just gonna stick with IKS M'ossa'Duj'laH, then, for the ship name. It should roughly translate to mean what I want, and it looks aesthetically enough like proper Klingon. Hopefully no one will call me out on it. :P

Actually, won't the ship name also depend somewhat on the captain's background as well? What if the captain isn't even klingon? Anyone speak orion? On earth, different cultures spell the same 'sound' differently... i.e. meow/miaou/nyaa and so on. What would 'meow' be in Ferasan?

M'ossa may be Ferasan, but he's been raised by a Klingon house in a manner similar to the 'hostage' system lords in our own feudal era used to control conquered vassals and ensure their loyalty. Thus, he would likely use the Klingon language for his ship's name.

Extremely helpful site. Thanks for pointing me there.
Im glad you like it. It is an excellent site for Klingon language info.
Deyvid from the Gates of Stovokor could certainly help you more if needed as he is very fluent in klingon.
