I was told that these were once used to redeem giftboxes during last year's Q Winter event. I wanted to know where I can go/who I should talk to, to redeem these receipts! Help!

We'll let you do something with them in a future patch
Is there a possibility to use the Holiday Gift receipts during the current Winter Wonderland event (2012)? I have 5 left, I wasn't online during the event right after the conversion and I thought I have to keep them until the next event. No I was looking for a place to turn them in but can't find anything. Any input on what to do with these 5 receipts is welcome. Thanks!

Thank you, Brandon! I hope that's in the near future but if it isn't I'll put them back in my bank until that future does, indeed, arrive. They've been sitting in my bank since last year so a little more sitting won't do much harm.
Mind you - being able to trade them in for one of those nice winter's coats would be wonderful.
Let' hope he wasn't talking about an alternate future. I think... ...I am convinced Cryptic is run by Q. This whole STO business seem to be right up Qs alley.
Please can someone explain what I am supposed to do with these receipts. It's all very well to make fun and jokes but I'm a lifetime sub player who's just come back and would like a serious answer about what I am going to get form these receipts, since they were given to me in exchange for taking away lots of the old currencies I had back then.
@casbyness - the community manager's post in this thread says "We'll let you do something with them in a future patch". In other words, hang on to them and keep an eye on the patch notes until the future (whenever that may be) patch that lets you spend the receipts is available.

The answer "we'll do something between now and the end of time", is not acceptable. I would like to know something a bit less vague than "whenever". Either the Dev team is working on adding something to a specific upcoming patch (in which case they would have a rough idea of when the receipts will be able to be cashed in), or they aren't (in which case the answer is "meh, you may as well delete them since we have no plans for them right now").
MMO players need to stop allowing themselves be brainwashed by the classic "Soon(TM)" response that Devs give to questions they can't be bothered to answer properly.
Why is it that the redemption system is not present yet?
After the Winterland, can you place something on GTL Conversion thingy where we can redeem our tokens for the previous 2011 special winter clothings or something?
I have 5 of these as well. Been holding on to them waiting for this Winterfest to do something with them. Ah well!
Perhaps we will have till the end of the month though and not just the end of the Winterfest to use them. As per http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=798511 by visiting the one of the ?GPL Conversion Unit? consoles located at Quark?s Bar on Deep Space Nine and near the Dabo tables on Drozana station.
Best bet, just kick back, relax, and wait til something is announced. Let them sit there and take up space in your inventory. About all you can do unfortunately.
Those gift receipts were given (along with the Veteran Boffs) to players that lost out big in the Emblem->Dilithium conversion - each receipt was for a single, openable Red Gift Box (which could've contained a Jem'hadar at the time - unlikely but...)
Would a more appropriate trade-in not have been one receipt for one Master Key?

As you pointed out, they were given to players to be used during the 2011 winter event. Since you did not use them, instead of just discarding them, we're proving a way to use them. Most players used these during the Winter event in 2011 where they were designed to be used

I never had them - spent my Emblems before the conversion. I just think that this is poor compensation to those that did receive them since GPL is worth even less than ECs.
And yes, you're right - they should have redeemed them last year but why even go to the effort of offering these players something if what you're offering is effectively worthless?

Because the players in this and other threads requested it, and instead of saying "no; just discard them", we listened and are providing something in exchange for them. This is akin to some of the other holiday items that no longer have a use, whether permanently or for the year (e.g. consumables, winter epohh tags, etc.).

And this folks is one of the reasons why the devs don't take what forums say seriously. Even when they do something nice that they didn't have to do someone will be angry.

They take it plenty seriously, or you'd all still be sitting on stockpiles of useless rubbish.
Something (however TRIBBLE) > NOTHING
Some people seem to have forgotten this little concept me thinks. OK It's not another free ship or whatever, but realistically, what would you have wanted for the item, you should have traded in last year?

When is the changes going to be implemented that will allow us to redeem the holiday gift tokens?
Were you trolling us?
We only have less than two weeks until the event is over.
It's been nearly a month since you gave us this message.
Yes at this rate, more like a patch on Winter 2013.

If you plan on reintroducing vendor for Holiday Gift Receipt next year, could you at least let us know that the vendor won't be available this year?
The waiting is becoming unbearable and the silence from Dev is getting ridiculous.
The Winterland Event is approaching the end.
