Energy Credit and Dilithium Exchange

I'll get right down to the point here with a quick question; if someone wanted to exchange one for the other, what would be a fair exchange rate? If you were selling energy credits for dilithium, how much would you be thinking to part with?

Easiest way is to use contraband as a yard-stick. 5 contraband equals 2000 dilithium, 1 contraband is 45k-50k ec.

if using contraband, the exchange comes out to be somewhere around 110-115EC per dilithium.

By using multiple alts you can basically feed them contraband to negate the time gate and directly convert EC to dilithium. Naturally the more contraband you buy, the higher it goes in price(because of increased demand).

You can flip the other way by selling master keys, fleet modules, doffs, reward pack gear, etc. Those exchange rates tend to fluctuate more, especially keys.

You can, however, exchange dilithium for zen and buy keys/doff packs etc and sell these on the exchange.

Or, as I suspect is the case here, pay someone in EC to have them donate dilithium to fleet projects.

I have since become aware of this.

    Incorrect. :P

I had actually planned to exchange dilithium for energy credits. The reason being to buy lock box keys from the exchange. I really want the Galor Cruiser (the Boff setup would do me well) and I've only got 35zen to my name at the moment. I don't want to exchange my dilithium to zen cause I need that for the fleet (and embassy) projects, in addition to my own requirements.

Buying keys off the exchange seems the next logical step. I'm limited to 10mil EC at the minute, and have, over the last week or so purchased about 12 - 15 keys (through two characters) and used them, though as of yet, unsuccessfully. Doff Packs and Lobi, no Galor.

Could the Galor be purchased directly from the Exchange? I mean, via LB would make getting one "cheaper", but that's based on chance.

Bump fate, buy direct. Although I do understand the situation if it costs beyond 10mil ...

BUT to answer the OP ... I think 100:1 (EC:Dil) is fair.

Swear I've opened 25+ boxes now, even exchanged some dilithium for a 10-pack. Still nothing but a bunch of worthless Doff packs (White and Green; not a single Blue or Purple) and some Lobi Crystals which I have no use for ...and they're bound, so I can't even sell them on to someone who might want them.

Yeah, Lobi being character-bound really sucks. Even just account-bound would make it more useful.

The cheapest Galor going on the exchange is 68 million. Even if I didn't have my 10-million cap limit, it would still take me months to reach that price. I've currently got around 250k (because of the credits I've been wasting on unlock keys). I'm in no position to wait it out.

You do realize that the drop rate on the lock box ships is less than 1% right? You've already spent over 25 million EC on lock box keys. The 'guaranteed' way of getting it, is to get EC, and then buy direct from exchange. You'll be spending more by opening the boxes. But, of course, everyone thinks they have better odds than the statistical rate.

EDIT: And I would seriously think about getting EC cap increase. Totally worth it. Covert dilithium to Zen. At current rates, it's less than 50K for 400 Zen. That's less than a week of max refinement.

I have opened many boxes probably 60 odd and never really got anything good like a ship, but people out there must be getting them as they sell'em on the exchange some for peanuts.

My real question is do the dev's manipulate the exchange prices for dilithium, i have seen the price many time go from a small/lower number like 80 muve up in cost of 10 sometimes more in less than a minute. some people or devs must have mass amounts of zen and or dil then set there price to TRIBBLE abouve the current price and then buy up all the lowwer prices, making dil sell for more than what it is worth. With all the new things like starbasses/rom and even borg sto equipment now costing much Dilithium, Dilithium in my view should only be selling for around 50Dill for 1zen, maybe even that is to much Dilithium's vallue is way extream.

People are paying way to much for zen. thoughts people???

Well because I normally trade Dil for zen, of course I'm gonna really like that idea! LOL.

It would be great if I could get 1 zen for 50 Dil or even 25 Dil ! Yet I also feel sorry for those who are trying to exchange their
zen for Dil. (Especially those whom paid real money for their zen).

So, yeah, I would totally think that be great! If zen was so much cheaper on the exchange!

Yet at the same time, it doesn't bother me too much, because I think those whom are trading Zen, deserve to get a good amount of Dil for it. Because that's basically real money they're trading! So to spend alot of time on the STF missions or something collecting Dil, to trade it for Zen, even if it goes back to the rate of 150 per zen , I won't be mad about that, cause they deserve it.

I'm happy we're lucky enough that such an exchange exists in the game at all, it gives people that can't afford to buy anything from the Zen store, a chance to do so!

I'm also grateful to those whom do offer zen for dil ! (Thank you folks kindly).

The only time I would think it annoying, is if it went up to 200 dil per zen. yet even then whatever, it's still a trade of real money for Time .

    God bless ya all.

to me i am surprised that contraband not 100k a piece by now, since the introduction
of omega/romulan marks contraband has been obsolete. so its kinda interesting that
people are surprised that its going up in price.

but it would be nice if they moved the Doff assignment to the reputation system
so we wouldnt have to travel to the security npc to do the assignment.

samething with the tribble corpses and prisoners assignments.

this is just my thoughts, it still a good source of energy credits, contraband
just need better uses so it doesnt loose its value.

11000 dil buys 125 zen, 125 zen buys 1 lock box key, which sells for ~1.2 mil EC on the exchange.

    Therefore, 1.2 mil EC / 11000 dil = 109.1 EC/dil.

Sad thought is that, if you'd just saved up those keys (As a way to hold EC while still under the 10mil limit), you could have maybe done a trade in chat "60 keys for your Galor". Or something like that.

Is the market being manipulated? Not directly. Indirectly, Dilithium becomes more valuable as more giant Dil sinks (starbase projects, etc) are put in the game. Dil more valuable = it takes less Dil to get a zen. Also, zen becomes less valuable as people run out of things they want to buy with it.

But the Exchange itself is player-run. Desperate "Gotta Have Moar Dil Now!" zen sellers, undercutting each other in order to get their sale first, drive the price down.

True I could have traded keys for (something) but then I would not have any lobi crystals for any of those items. only prob is that most boxes only give around 4, the most i have got was one of the ferengii Gold boxes when they were around think I recieved 30 or 50 in one hit, they should increase the amount slightly for key users.

    *edit*
lobi I thought was ment to be found all around the universe, yet I have never found any. Followed some old post on where to find some but could never see it find it and waisted many hours trying, yet again before i installed this game remember reading that it could be found.... ??? me not know why, maybe I'm missing something, might need to pay a monthly bill for that not sure?
