Discard Items...Is It Getting Annoying?

ghqcommandghqcommand Member Posts: 0 Arc User
With the new and greatly appreciated loot drop rate comes the added work of discarding more items.

The game used to allow us to left click and drag an item out of the inventory to delete it. They initially added that with good reason, to save us a little time. Obviously user error pushed them to remove that ability which I now miss.

Would you like to see this come back, maybe an option in our accounts to activate it and use it at our own risk?

At the very least a keyboard shortcut such as CTRL + D then left click on an item to discard it. This would allow very quick discarding.

The new ability to double click on items in inventory and move them to the bank or trade window means less items need to be dragged from window to window. I assume that was the issue in year one and reason the ability to drop items into thin air was removed, but I would really like it back please and the reduced risk supports my request so that is good.

Thanks to all replies.

at least remove the "how many" window when you are selling a stack

i cannot get rid of the particles, it takes forever to delete all 9 types of them on every toon just to free my inventory..!

I'm sure the original drag and drop approach dealt with this by letting the bundle get dropped into thin air. I might be wrong but it would be so easy for them to do.

I for one am glad they added that safeguard. It was annoying dragging equipment and one false move or bad timing with lag, and that hard-earned item disappeared forever.

And there is no trouble getting rid of items, except when you got a full inventory full of high value EC items and don't know which to sacrifice to the lower credit Replicator. ;)

Full inventory exactly, it happens and during battle I find myself wanting to pick up something with 30k value but taking seconds to decide what to delete.

Is there not risk of deleting the wrong thing by mistake during an STF or something? So still risk of losing something we want. It's never going to be 100% safe.

As I said the drag and drop thing is no longer required and is option as double click exists to move items to the bank and the ability to drag things to oblivion could be made available with a setting so everyone is happy.

I'm pushing for this I want it :)

Personally, I try to empty out my inventory between missions as not to encounter such problems. If I should encounter a full inventory during a missions, I go through combat triage and sell the cheap and worthless items first. :P

I do the same. As a general rule I dump anything worth less than 100EC into the recycler.

Yes every single mission you spend life minutes deleting items. I'm talking about reducing the number of life minutes we spend doing that admin and we can get back in the queue just a little sooner.

Saving seconds adds up over a year.

What about all the life minutes you've wasted whining about trivial **** on the boards?

Another thing I would like to see them do is make it so when we drag an item to the exchange interface, we set the price per unit and let the game calculate the stack price. Or vice versa. If we set a stack price, the game sets the per-unit stack. And dammit after three years, I think it is shameful that we cannot sord the exchange listing by unit price.
This exists and I use it a lot when buying/selling data. It's a pulldown on the top left of the buy window. You do have to research after changing it though.

For quick cleaning an inventory best advice I could give is use the replicator and recycle them.Yes you have to confirm a stack but to me seems loads faster than rightclicking and if there is a mistake then buy it back. which is good till you change the map.

Really? I dump anything that isn't blue-quality or higher. Ain't nobody got time for all that!

LOL. I might try that. It's just too easy to do it by EC.

Another one of my pet peeves is how if I am looking at DOff assignments by department heads, if I open the replicator interface, it closes the department head listing I am was looking at, and vice versa. The reverse is also true. If Current Sector and Personal DOff assignment listings don't close when I bring up the replicator interface, then why must the department head listings?

The assignments tab counts as a menu. However, clicking on the department heads counts as a dialog. And so does the replicator, so they cancel each other. I don't know why, and it's stupid, but that's how it is.

yes, never understood it either why they changed it, i liked it.

not true, there was always a "do you REALLY want to do what you just pressed" [YES][NO] dialog just like when you dismiss something now, you CAN'T accidentally dismiss something unless you press OK instead of Cancel without reading on every dialog that shouldn't even be there at that moment.

Best way to solve too full inventory is increase or remove the limit on the number of times we're allowed to buy more inventory slots.

Wait?!?!?! I thought the rep system was grind grind grind... and that we can't afford all the EC to buy the commodities and consumables to input into the rep system! Grind grind grindiddy grind grind! Oh the humanity!?!?!?! What is this over abundance of loot you speak of?!?!?!?! You get this loot from dare I say 'just' playing the game? But you don't get loot drops when you chat on Dorzana all day and complain in the forums?

    * Sorry to threadjack... couldn't help myself. I too suffer the same inventory issues and try to clear my inventory prior to playing PvE content. However doing things like a good run of "Battleship Royal Rumble" can even overrun the empty space that I can just barely manage to create. Nothing like making 250k EC in less than 10 minutes...

I am sort of a pack rat and I keep a couple sets in my bag as well as some weapons, consoles, and other junk that I like to equip now and then. Invetory space for the daily haul can be hard to keep clear sometimes. Especially with furry animals and winter trinkets clogging my inventory.

I would be in favor of Ctrl-D + Click of an item or stack to send it to the recycler.

YES! THANK YOU!!! You beat me to it. Just click "recycle" and quickly be done with all the junk you don't want. It doesn't even take 1 minute to do so - that is, if you've got your inventory already organized.

So... don't pick them up? Or at least dump the stacks on the exchange for a bargain price.

I like getting full stacks of Lockboxes just to delete them. It is euphoric.
Don't delete the Lockboxes one at a time. Wait until you get a lot.
Should I start posting again after all this time?
