lets say you have a white DOff, that has no success or crit traits at all for the chosen assignment
if you slot a purple that also has no success or crit traits you get a success chance increase as if you would slot a white with 3 success traits
it's probably a bit more complicated in the depth of the math, but... that should be about right without thinking too much about it.
I didn't phrase this question correctly. For example a tec doff has a chance to regen shields when on active duty in combat. If hes a white tec doff he has X chance of regening shields when brace for impact is active if hes a purple doff there is Y chance ... whats the difference between X and Y?
Go to the exchange, change the rarity of said doff, and compare.
I'm really not trying to be rude here, but I don't understand why this is so difficult.
1) Go to the exchange
2) Choose the Doff type in the left column.
3) Choose the rarity (common)
4) Hit "Search"
5) Look at the stats
6) Change the rarity (very rare)
7) Hit "Search"
8) Look at the stats
9) Compare
Just go to the exchange. It's all in there for you.

Uh...Y will be higher. That's about it, disregarding difference in traits, reward quality, critical success on Doff missions, and so on.

Hmm, not to hijack the thread but, I never quite thought of it this way.
Obviously, like most people, I try to match up the crit trait. So I would generally look in the following order for a particular mission:
-Purple with crit
-Blue with crit...
...and so on until I couldn't find a white with crit and I would start over at the top with purples without crit (and naturally avoiding any with fail or disaster if possible). I just assumed that crit traits were always better than quality bonuses.
But if a purple without crit is worth a white with three success is there a balance point? I mean, is a purple better for a critical success than a white with one crit? What about a green?
Sorry if this has been asked before. It just occurred to me after reading this post.

Depends on the doff, like the Shield Distrubution Officer,
Chance to partially regenerate your shields while taking damage after Brace for Impact is used.
White
20% chance: +0.62 Shield Regeneration every 1 sec for 15 sec
20% chance: +1.6 Shield Regeneration
Green
30% chance: +0.64 Shield Regeneration every 1 sec for 15 sec
30% chance: +1.7 Shield Regeneration
Blue
40% chance: +0.66 Shield Regeneration every 1 sec for 15 sec
40% chance: +1.7 Shield Regeneration
Purple
50% chance: +0.68 Shield Regeneration every 1 sec for 15 sec
50% chance: +1.8 Shield Regeneration
The difference is roughly a factor of +150% - roughly 50% per grade increase.
If common is 100%, uncommon will be 150, rare 200 and very rare 250%.
I don't know if this is always true, but it should be roughly correct.
As mentioned before: a grade in rarity is similar to one matching trait, so a common DOff with one matching trait will be as good as a uncommon one with no traits.
This isn't always correct - it depends on what exactly the trait affects (success? critical?) - but the differences are fairly minor.

Depends on the DOFF, some have chance, some have better recharge times.
But to answer your question its 5%, 10%, 20%, and 25% for Very Rare and Ultra Rare DOFFs.
