hey guys!

it was great watching you all evolve through the night! We can use this thread to continue any unanswered questions or continue trains of thought that were unfinished from last night...

just a bit of feedback from me, on what we should focus on from out matches:

Communication!

ex:

-nuke on this target in 20 seconds (remember, a sensor scan should come with that!)
-alpha ready in 25 seconds (remember, you can use "weak" alpha for when you do not have a tac fleet or go down fighting to stack with it, or "full" alpha if you do)
-player X needs hull
-player y needs shields
-player x needs sci team (because he has been nuked!)
-player y, please stay within 10 clicks (so i can heal you!)

keep in mind to limit your communication to short bursts of pertinent information!

Min/Maxing

the ship that does a little bit of everything is the ship that doesn't do 1 thing very well....so...

-if you are a tac captain/escort, and your mindset / boff choices are focused around staying alive/healing...and not the max possible damage....rethink your strategy!

-if you are an engineer/cruiser, and your mindset / boff choices are focused on doing damage and not healing....rethink your strategy!

-if you are a sci captain/sci ship, and your mindset / boff choices are NOT focused on crowd control and debuffing....rethink your strategy!

also, thanks for hanging around and listen to me babble about builds and strategy! open communication is the key to forming good relationships, and hopefully finding that group of guys that you get along with, and kick TRIBBLE with!

have fun kill bad guys

-thrusters on full-

I feel like things went really well. The atmosphere was laid back but full of great information. The candid discussions in general were interesting and there were some really good questions. I do feel like there could be greater benefits from breaking the classes down further by having two teams square off while two coach's advise and the other team observes (taking turns). I know there are only so many resources and everyone is volunteering so while there are things which might be improved it won't be easy.

I hope more people will take advantage of the coach's offering offline support, small groups in OrganizedPvP channel, and the forums.

It's terrible but easy, and these Borg are way cooler than the mess STO and Voyager left us.
May not actually be "way" cooler or even "slightly" cooler.

I was pretty tired for the second one. I think there may have been too much talk on certain build types, but overall it was fun. Hozrizon pretty showed why cannons builds are OP ;p

Killer and I ran a more "duel" oriented during the first event. I think both were productive.

Hopefully everyone feels more comfortable queuing up and hopefully they will continue to ask questions/team.

The TS server is open to all that wish to use it. Hopefully people keep coming and keep pewing. You'll find killer and myself up there when we are. We aren't the best players but we have lots of knowledge to share and are always willing to team/help anyone that wants to learn.

    Cheers!

The first session went well. The flow of information and engagement was very encouraging.

    General Feedback
I do agree with Hale that the class sizes were tad too large (but unavoidable). I think that too much was attempted to be accomplished in one sitting. I now see Sargon's 4 step approach post and that explains things more clearly in terms of vision.

The session we had spanned across all 4 boot camp phases and this is because of the different levels of player experiences and their personal expectations.

    Suggestions
    • One simple suggestion is to up front at the start of the class to give a run down of what to expect in that days session and what will be there in the next sessions.
    • If we do have large classes again i'd also suggest that some students watch smaller groups skirmish. To have 10 observe the others 5v5 and allow them to see clearer what is happening / being used and why.
(I see Hale saying the same thing. I missed that before)

Folks are learning and that is the main thing. Good job and keep it up.

    Thank you,

Oh yeah, good point. Perhaps a little more structure announced up front would help keep us on course. It's like a BoP with their universal slots. Sometimes too many options (or points of discussion in this case) can be overwhelming. Our coach's were really great about making it clear that they were available for side discussions at any point after the event even.

Honestly I didn't realize this was a multiple course thing until just the other day. I'm really looking forward to the future events.
