Forgive me for not understanding but how do Cryptic benefit from PWE buying them
From what I understand, and I could be wrong

They get money to make missions
New employees

And how do PWE benefit
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.

I hope STO get's better ...

    Businesses buy other businesses for a variety of reasons including acquisition of technologies, patents, establishment of presence in an area or even just to gain expertise.

    PWE has probably gained a lot of exposure by buying Cryptic and so will make money from their other titles in the west as well as from STO.
    Still waiting to be able to use forum titles

    PWE makes its money off the zen store. But people are only going to spend so much on a single game so having multiple games encourages players to buy something for each one.

    Increasing their game inventory increases they're player base as well.
