Remove Dilithium Costs!

karadrewkaradrew Member Posts: 0 Arc User
Please remove the dilithium costs from fleet items and the some reputation items. Dilithium is too hard to get great amounts with the 8000 a day refine limit! Too top this off the stf items didnt use to require dilithium, so why should they now? The answer is they shouldn't and neither should fleet items!

Yeah, dil costs on Fleet gear can be pretty ridiculous honestly. I'd rather have it only costs Fleet Credits, and just cost more fleet credits because of it.

But the Rep stuff would have to cost SOMETHING though. I don't agree with like 28k or so of dil for one item at Mk XII (like just one Romulan Plasma Beam array), but they'd still need to cost something.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

I have a better idea. How's about you stop whining and just play the game? Things can't remain the same forever. Change is part of this game, and this game, even though it's free to play, isn't instant gratification or free itself. And dilithium is supposed to be for ELITE items. So naturally reputation and fleet items are considered elite. And as a direct result, they cost dilithium.

    In short? No.

Dilith's pretty easy to get. Especially now that IOR's now give 960 ore and can be repeated every half-hour and there are plenty of brain-dead-easy 15 minute missions out there.

The 8,000 a day cap can be annoying, but dilithium is in no way hard to get.

It's actually harder to get the fleet credits for fleet items then it is the dilithium to go with it..

Part of the high dil costs for things, especially base and embassy projects, is to encourage players to buy dil with zen. Simply choose to go without and you will be fine; dil stacks up just from playing, and I don't waste time on combat anymore - I get mine from doing the exploration, diplomatic, and DOff missions.

i don't want it removed, but a little less (like half what it is now) would be a LOT better and a lot more fun, in my opinion. And Hereticknight, chill dude.

Edit :: or even a better scaling system, with Tier I being really cheap on dilith, then maybe +1/3 of tier I for tier II, then +2/3 of that adjusted value for tier III etc. that wouldn't be bad. I just unlocked romulan ground weapons and was astonished at the dilithium cost. Seems overmuch, especially if you want to trick out your away team as well. So yeah, i think it should be less, or on a better scaled system, as it is now, i just will not unlock something unless i *HAVE* to have it. Also, as a note to Hereticknight - i'm no freeloader, and i also happen to agree that instant gratification is less than ideal, but some of the costs are truly extreme.

Chill he says? Rofl. I am perfectly chill. I don't bother with getting angry online. Not worth it. Now if you had said hold back on the blatant scorn and obvious disdain I hold for OP for whining as he did, then that would be legit. As is, I have a few more comments to make on the matter, since I am currently not pressed for time.

First off, STO's grind is laughably easy compared to many other MMOs out that, some of which I have played. If you've ever heard of Battlestar Galactica Online, run by Bugpoi... Erm Bigpoint Entertainment, you will know that the grind in this game is NOTHING. It's pitifully easy in comparison. Secondly, I don't think OP was doing the rep system when it still cost dilithium to upgrade tiers... And I don't think OP understands that these are ELITE items. And naturally, there would be limiters on getting these items. Now since OMs, RMs, Commodities, Expertise, DOffs, and ECs are so easy to get, they would put in the only limiter they have left, Dilithium. The refining cap exists for a reason, and that's to make sure that there is at least some way to limit what you can do in game.

So my answer is still no. In fact, it's a "Hell no quit whining OP" now.
