Go stand next to a chair and come tell us about how "normal" sized you are.

What? Chairs are fine, except the friggin' captain's chair and boff chairs on most bridges. :P

I don't know...my character is (5'-12") and the guns look extremely long.

I use dual pistols just because I have yet to find a "regular sized" rifle/assault weapon.

Yep, everything is/was over proportioned. Like the chairs, hallways, bridges, transporter rooms and the old doors. Take a look around the place. If you're ten feet tall you'd look normal.

Size of weapons and ships were always an issue in STO. Bird of Preys are all way too large and every single one of them is larger than the Defiant-Class (considering canon they should be a bit smaller/roughly the same size) while most Battlecruisers/Cruisers are too small and in some cases even smaller than some raptors/escorts.

Ground weapons on the other hand are always to large in higher tiers if you don't play a character with max. body height. Only lower tiers offer weapons with edaquate size.

Well when you steal a Runabout Klingon side, (which you still cant slot your BO into) the fed runabouts that attack you are mini tinsey little baby runabouts that zoom past you.

In comparison to one another most of the Cruiser/Battlecruiser and larger ships are fairly well scaled to one another.

It's escorts and smaller ships that are horribly out of scale, and don't get me started on the shuttles and fighters that are at least an order of magnitude (or more) bigger than what they should be.

At the end of the day though, it's more than likely a decision made to accommodate gameplay.

I think that guns, hallways, and furniture are properly scaled. I rationalize this by imagining that a few years ago Q played a prank on everyone by making them smaller.

The guns don't look so much out of scale as suffering from the general pulp/pop sci-fi/fantasy "bigger and gaudier = cooler" sillyness. I mean, they're not just big, but some of them are also downright goofy unergonomic looking in that sort of "wouldn't this be cooler if it had big useless swoopy fins on it" sort of way that usually applies to custom motorcycles.

Same reason why you see toons running around giant WOW-looking capes and gaudily jumbled "awesome" uniforms and Brutal Legend body proportions. Some folks just never leave jr High when it comes to what looks cool to them.

The ships I'm mostly okay with. Mostly. The fact that the smaller ones are out of scale doesn't bug me, but the really big enemy ships like D'Deridexes and Scimitars and Bog cubes being only like 1/4 the size they're supposed to be kinda kills the illusion and makes things feel extra cartoony.

Hallways and rooms.. it varies. I don't mind it on Spacedock and places like that. It kinda makes sense that those areas would be built like convention halls IRL, so the fact that they look that way in game is just fine. Ship interiors are very glaringly cavernous though. The hallways are absurd, and the main engineering rooms are just insane. The fed main engineering looks like it should be powering an entire city, not a ship, and the Klingon one is literally big enough to land a BOB in, which is just surreal when it's meant to be the main engineering of a BOP. Ship bridges are sort of half and half: some are good, some are bad.

Nah it's all those years of transporter use that they claim was safe is now having it's ill effect on everybody.

My toon is 5 foot 6 inches (1.676 meters) tall and my MACO Rifle is almost as tall as me. Yeah they need to fix the scaling in this MMO, I guess this MMO was made for giants.

Most Ships are scaled quite okay, and the smaller ones (runabaout) have to be made bigger for gameplay reasons. You wouldnt even see them on your screen when scaled correctly to a big cruiser :D

With weapons hm...thats a tough one. There are some present-day weapons that are gigantonormous, some .50 BMG sniper rifles are almost 1,50m/60inches long so the size in game seems legit. there is however a problem with the various character sizes in-game ranging from hobbit to hulk sized. many of them wouldnt be able to use the weapons. easy way would be to scale the weapons with character high, but that would also start discussions...so, end of the day, theres no way to please everyone, its just a game after all, so dont bother too much ;)

Maybe they should let us customise the weapons.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

LOL, I had a chuckle at that reply.

    On a serious Note:

I thought I saw larger dual pistols for the KDF, that is they have a longer gun barrel.

Anyone know if these are Fleet version? If so, what tier? And what rarity?

    or

are they a diiferent type model?

In fairness the Elite Fleet weapons aren't too bad, and I tend to find the sniper/pulsewaves are generally ok if you can ignore the holo targetting system of doom.
