Idea for new ensign tac/eng skill

Was thinking about the lack of choices for tac and eng ensign abilities.

How about removing shield distro from tt and add it to a new tac skill which starts at ensign which lowers threat for say 15 sec and distributes shields for 3/6/9 sec? More threat decrease for higher ranks.

As for the eng skill have it raise resist and increase threat for about 15 sec. Skill starts at ensign. Better resist for higher skill rank.

Both skills have a 45 or 30 sec cooldown

    Threat generation only works in PVE. In PVP people make up their owne minds as to who is threatening.

    True but with shield distro on the new tac ability and resists on the new eng ability they would still be helpful in pvp

    I have to say, I'm really against the entire concept of reducing threat in any way. Because it forces everybody who DOESN'T do it, to play as if they invested in threat amplification even if they didn't want to.

    Agreed, It can be hard enough already to avoid aggro when ships that should be specced in it aren't.

    I'm honestly not convinced there even is a threat table, beyond "who is doing the most damage". I wouldn't be surprised to find out that any ability or skill that supposedly increases threat doesn't actually have any such feature.

    I wouldn't mind cannon scatter or rabid(sp) fire.

    The problem is that would leave cruisers in PvP even more vulnerable to escort alpha strikes, as they can't turn fast enough to present a different shield facing. They pretty much need the shield distribution. And they also have every limited tactical slots as well.

    What i would like is lets call it Point defense fire. Ensign level tac skill that has turrets fire like fire at will at everything around the ship, prioritizing small targets.
