I noticed, as i am sure have many others, that sometimes, when you have eliminated any fail risk by slotting very good doffs, any traits or specializations that favor your success chance actually diminished the critical chance because that is the only part of the cake left to draw from.
Why doesn't "overspill" success translate to a higher crit chance in a similar way that accuracy on space weapons contribute to critical chances when the accuracy value is higher then the targets defense value?
Badly set up missions is the main reason. Success conditions should double as critical success as well. Not sure if they are capable of assigning different weights to specific critical traits, I doubt they can as it never seems to be done, but it could just be more badly set up missions.
Why can astrometrics officers do better than a botanist at studying flowers? Because studying flowers is easy and the mission wasn't thought through. Botantist should be a critical condition, and weighted heavy enough to override the success condition.
That said it won't happen, they would need to go through all the Doff assignments, reweight everything along with the chance to fail on both sides.
The recommended officer choices needs a lot of attention as well, it is giving you the worst possible choices quite often. It maximizes success.. very basic. It should be weighting the predicted chances. So an officer score is currently = success rate and discounts everything else. It should be score = (success%)+(critical success*critical bonus)-(failure+critical failure) to get you a more accurate score. I don't see a reason for a critical failure to count more than a failure.
There is no real displayed percentages or random chances in an online (MMO) game ,specially free-to-play.Everything , every detail is preset made.I thought you guys learned this (if you played enough MMO game(s))
You,me , others cannot verify somehow to see if behind that "12% chance to..." is a real 12%.
It's like you watch at TV and see pictures with Osama Bin Laden dead but you can't meet his family to take a DNA sample to test and see if he is really dead. You only have to beleive it's true because you saw it on television
Anyways enjoy the game and you guys are wasting important time posting that a specific procent is not the real one or not working in MMO games , it's useless
open beta player of some PWE games - north america launched versions:
- PWI - November, 2008 (2 months after North-America-West Coast open beta)
- Forsaken World - open beta
- BOI - open beta
- Star Trek Online - ftp January, 2012 and rank 14 STO Wiki contributor
- Neverwinter open beta June, 2013 Daily Foundry "Canyon of the Dead" ( NW-DBPJYKMRE ) - dungeon
It's very strange that the success steals from crit.
When I do doff missions I have to be careful when trying to max crit and with new game mechanics involving doffs (epohhs) maybe this is something they can come back around and fix?
Hopefully the fix doesn't require someone to go through each mission and fix, but if it is maybe it's better to do it now before it gets to big to complete and becomes 'working as intended'.
