Officer Reports! - Well Done!

beerstickmanbeerstickman Member Posts: 1 Arc User
I have just completed my first officer reports since the patch today. I think this is well balanced and rewarding. I recieved 960 dilithium, and 50 fleet marks. The mission i chose was a 30 minute mission. Which is perfect, because Officer Reports is now repeatable every 30 minutes. I am very happy with this, because it will be more fun for me to repeat since i love to play foundry missions. This is a way to play something different daily, and get rewards. I am Happy with all this, Well Done Cryptic!

It is good. Not too much, nor too little.
I'll sell you some weapons from New Romulus. Never fired, only dropped once.

Does this mission work with the Fleet Mark Bonus event?

not 100% sure but probably not. not every fleet mark mission gave a bonus during the hour.

    Absolutely!

I am pleasantly surprised by this change and Me, Myself, and I give it three thumbs up!

This will definitely encourage me to spend more time playing (and perhaps making) Foundry content.

I think the old daily gave the reward, I guess we'll see later today

I am superhappy about this.. finally I can do a foundary mission and be rewarded for it.
3 missions for one report was not good ... one mission is more attainable..
    *hugs to the devs*

My suggestion would be to have the reward based on a 30 minute mission and have the rewards scale based on how long it takes the AVERAGE player to complete the mission, so a long foundry mission and a short foundry mission would reward appropriately.

    Wow thats awesome.

That will really reward more foundry gaming which is perfect because I'm planning on attempting to make my first ever foundry mission.

Agreed, but they sort of do this now in a way, since you now get some good loot playing a very long foundry mission on elite.

UGC is dropping blues. Longer the mission, more plentiful are the rewards. But, if all that the player wants are the FM and the dilithium, a longer mission will be skipped.

Yes this really was a great change. I have been doing all kinds of foundry missions today. Much better then the constant stf grind, or deferi dailies. I really hope it stays this way. Thanks again Cryptic!

Isn't it kind of amazing to play to the game this way? These are the stories of fans who love the franchise. Granted some are better than others (and we have to be forgiving of typos), but it's like trying to experience the Trek universe instead of simply doing repetitive tasks with the goal of obtaining a virtual goody.

I've spent the past week in Winter Wonderland. It felt fun. But I was constantly aware that this is a video game that is well... just a video game. There were moments today, however, when I just forgot... like when you watch a movie and forget it's a movie. That never happens with a lot of other stuff, especially if I've done those stfs 4 times already.

Any recommendations for a foundry mission with lots of pew pew that takes around that 30 minute mark? And I don't mean all pew pew no story just something that is about 30 minutes long is the big thing as the search is still a bit cumbersome.

When will that spotlight foundry mission tab work properly?

See sig. You need a good shuttle or an escort.

I just got my first foundry tip in a long time. I think that is due entirely to this change. Now I will begin making part 2 and finishing the story. I have a reason to do so. Awesomesauce.

Ain't nuttin but the trufes. It's popcorn style plot design. The same kind of pulp tripe you'd see in a tng episode that was good, but not great, and a season finale that left you hanging a really long time. A very long time in this case.

I originally made it just to see the foundry and utilize all the functionality I could at the time. Some of this is reflected in the story, beaming from one location to another on the map when the door would not open to the next area, etc. Some of the dialog had to be contrived to make that seem at least semi-plausible but it's thin at best. Not a lot of effort put into the npcs, just some placement and idle anims. The invocation of Q was the act of a desperate author. The last part of the mission has real problems with BOff navigation through the corridors, and I'm not sure the dialog at the very end makes any sense at all. Part 2 should be fun since I'm not even sure what's in the box yet. This was all done in about 6 hours. I think I even remember one of the devs whom I shall not name making fun of the process by which I made it in the TTS channel.

I can't believe anyone liked it but I'm glad they did and so I really should finish the story.

This is awesome news! Pretty much revolutionises my end game experience, now I can actually play fun content rather than just grind all the Eta Eridani and Orellius dailies, and then play whatever I have time for. XD

If you're looking for short missions, I find that a lot of authors include the average play times of their missions in the description. So I search for "30 minutes", or any other period of time, and a whole bunch of missions come up.

This character is why I don't play my Romulan any more. Tovan Khev is NOT my BFF! Get him off my bridge!

Making it only require 1 mission to complete was good. But reducing the cooldown to 30 minutes was totally over the top. There is now no reason whatsoever to do any actual fleet missions for the fleet marks. It needs to go back to 20 hours or give significantly less fleet marks.

Not everyone does the foundry so fleet missions are still important. not to mention with a good team, during the bonus hour and with the bonus mark boost you can get 60-90 fleet marks from blockade in 15 minutes.

all that needs to be done is to make the missions like red alert need to be boosted to make them more attractive. then people who do both have a real choice.

Well, that's fair enough. At least you're either honest or humble. I've had some would be Foundry authors ask me for help in the past and they put like 10 hours into their mission and then don't want to listen when I tell them they need to put in some more time for their mission to be good or great instead of decent.

I'm tempted to check your mission out just to see how bad it could possibly be. Maybe it's a better marketing strategy than I thought. ;)
