What is with the Wells classes appearing everywhere?

nixbooxnixboox Member Posts: 1,041 Arc User
I have been spending all my time in game doing STFs and patrolling around New Romulus and these Wells class ships keep showing up to help me in the patrol missions. What is this? Is it something I'm doing or is this just some new "feature"?

It's a random feature. Sometimes, you might get Shon and the Enterprise.

I kept having them drop in on the Azure Nebula and the Vault Ensnared missions. I kept thinking there was a Wells on the team and its console clones were running away from it.

I thought one popped up when I hit my Photonic Fleet the other day, but it turned out to be one of the Helpers.

Have the Temporal Police not arrested Braxton for his blatant breaches of the Temporal Prime Directive, helping out in 25th century battles.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Isn't the whole theme of the tholian thing supposed to be temporal related? Thus far I've only seen the Wells show up to fight Tholians.. never anywhere else?

Are these random Wells-class starships contributing to your defense in any way? Or are they just there...watching...;)

They certainly do help in the fight. Though their effectiveness is questionable.. they do sometimes use abilities on your ship too I've noticed.

Sometimes while in a fight, my dreadnought will just randomly jump 2-5k away from the enemies I'm fighting. Odd.. considering I have no console that can do that.

However.. it actually saved me from a web once... where I got jumped right out of a web that had just formed on me.

It only shows up to fight Tholians. Anything else, and you'll get the appropriate flagship for your faction. You apparently get a Korath class timeship if you're KDF.
Which makes sense, if the Tholians are messing with time and space portals. Why wouldn't 29th century Starfleet be taking an interest?

if this is intended then they should rescale the effectiveness UP and the appearances DOWN

the Wells pops up everywhere continuously and does very little to help.

last Vault ensnared i played had 3 Wells class NPCs around in the last battle... thats just silly.

Yeah, the Wells mainly show up during my STF. It almost always does, especially when doing the Fleet Action of the Vault, or the one that you have to rescue Rommie ships.

Correction: Not in STF but in FA like the Vault

Are you guys sure it's not a player in a Wells, using the Mobius console?

Negative, the last few times I did play in the Vault FA were with players either using carriers, escorts, or large cruisers. The escorts were your standard type, no Lockbox versions.

Then there was the moments where I was alone engaging Tholians.

I like seeing them show up. They kinda needed to do something with the Ent-F anyway. Haven't heard much from the flagship since the Dominion FE.

Maybe the Tholians knew the future about you and it was known by 29th century Starfleet. They support you because you were important for the future

I noticed the same thing, but only in the Beta Lankal System.

Usually, a Wells class ships appears at the second relic, but isn't targetteable. He attacks Tholian ships, then disappears (he simply fades away, no warp / hologram effect).
Next on the third relic, the ship reappears, but is targetteable. And he keeps helping me huntil I warp out.
I checked closely, and there is no Tyken's Rift (well I don't know if it's one, but it has the same FX) appearing when he pops out, like when Tholian ships summon Mirror Ships (I also noticed they usually summon reinforcements AFTER they die).

On one occasion, I had an Obex type Iconian ship coming from the planet when I finished beaming up the last relic, scanning some anomaly, then warping out when I got closer to him. Had this happen once in twenty times in this system. I'll try to make some screenshots next time (or use the demorecord).

I haven't seen yet both Wells class and Obex ships in other patrol systems in Tau Dewa (besides Enterprise-F in the skirmish missions).

I knew about the Enterprsie before it turned up, but was surprised when fighting Tholians in one of the systems in the New Romulas sector for the patrol daily, something started shooting from off screen. Then turns out a Wells class was flying around shooting at Tholians, and it kept dissapearing and reappearing a short distance away. I thought it was having issues with it's time drive. I'm very happy it did, as Tholians always prove troublesome for my ship on it's own.

After quite a bit of experience seeing these, they definitely only show up associated with Tholians. I've seen then pop up a bit, and the last one yesterday in a fleet alert where we bagged Tholians and sure enough some Wells popped out of the woodwork (err.. webwork?) as well.

And Stoleviathan99: No, I was in a Mobius and people were PM'ing me asking if they were my evil spawns :). They're definitely a random "featurette" with Tholians it seems.

I spotted a Wells class ship randomly fighting the Tholians in the Beta Lankal system yesterday. Another leak, or a tease for future content?

They seem to be popping up wherever Tholians are. I'd say that their inclusion is more than a lockbox thing... and that the 29th century Starfleet is looking like a contender for who's helping us on New Romulus.

Either they're repairing history or have a reason to violate the Temporal Prime Directive to help us.

I can't wait for the huge collection of story missions that ties it all back with the Iconian conspiracy. I mean, that's way too important a development to leave in an STF.

If it makes you feel any better its not a bunch of Wells... it's a single Wells. Just visiting your time from a bunch of different times at the same time. :P

I had an experience exactly like this Thursday evening in Beta Lankal. Afterwards I went to the Archer System and got help from ANOTHER Wells (in addition to the Romulan BoP's already there). I got a screenshot of the Wells I encountered in Beta Lankal up on the STO wiki in the gallery for the NPC Wells class article.

I don't think these are the same Wells class ships we encountered before.

The old ones had the same abilities of a Federation Science Vessel. These ones are more like Cruisers.
