Assimilated Console Problem

Going to check on Tribble, but this causes great concern for getting the Assimilated Console easily.
The rewards for the Undine Font mission "Assimilated" have been updated.

Universal Console - Assimilated Module has been relocated to Tier 1 of the Omega Reputation System.

This is from tomorrow's patch notes. So if you have any character that needs the Assimilated Console and don't want to do the project, then do the Assimilated mission NOW.

    This doesn't really bother me too much. I don't see why the Reputation system is such a big deal for people.

    Thank you for mentioning that. i hadnt got to that part of the story. just did it now to get the console. :D

    I had hoped they forgot about this, I am levelling another character and I doubt I can get him high enough to do the mission...

    Depressing Cryptic is choosing to remove it from Assimilated and force us to pay & wait for it through the silly reputation system. :(

    Now we have even less incentive to create alts; I didn't think that was even possible...
    There is no problem in the galaxy that cannot be solved with sufficient application of firepower.

    As soon as I saw the Assimilated Console was a part of the Omega Fleet Reputation on Tribble, I knew they would take the console away from the mission.

    I think this decision was wrong because it was an enticement to play through the entire storyline. When I first started to play and had to go to DS 9 - upon unlocking Omega Force - that was exciting too ( getting the first mark X weapon as a token was making you wonder how you could get all the other stuff ) : it enhanced the story .Going to the cube - not knowing when a drone would become hostile - was also very cool ( it was -and is - vintage Star Trek)..and beauty was that you knew at the end of it waited that console. Now everything is reduced to a marks/dilithium -grind . Where's the story in all of this ? Where's Star Trek ?

    I quickly made sure all my toons - those that could - got the console ,but that meant skipping the storyline missions which didn't seem right .

    I saw this coming. I just knew on the next patch it was going to limit access.
    I use the module as my engineering console on shuttles, but I didn?t have them on all of my toons. I took inventory last weekend of the total quantity I would need and then started chaining the mission until the objective was completed.

    See, good little grinder.

    Seemed pretty straightforward to me why people would not already have it or would want it there for future alts.

    If they want it for future alts well now they have to do it another way now.

    It really seems this game is taking away to many rewards for actually doing missions. Please review your ideas and put back good rewards for actually doing Missions.

    The removal of previously freely obtainable content to be placed behind time and resource gates is a time honored tradition for bad game design. It's a wonderful way for developers to let their customers know how highly they think of them.

    I have an alt that is still working through the romulan stories, but this change means she can have the assimilated now, rather than waiting to get to the Borg sector. She picked up loads of marks just from red alerts... So from my pov it seems good for alts.

    The assimilated console is part of the new Omega set. Why wouldn't it be part of the Reputation system, now that it's part of a 3-piece set instead of 4?

    And really, it's one mission reward. One of the few important ones we actually have... it's not that big a deal.
    Was named Trek17.

    Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.

    I have a completely newb question:

    Is the assimilated module still a part of the original 4 piece Borg set? So if I have the assimilated deflector, the assimilated module, and the borg cutting beam, could I have a 2 piece bonus from the original borg set, and a 2 piece bonus from the new one?

    It's a big deal when an item for years had a cost of zero, and is now thousands of dilithium + timegate.

    The Assimilated module was moved to a new set with the Cutting Beam and Omega Torpedo Launcher which is available at Tier 4. The assimilated tractor beam which was the set bonus for having all 4 pieces has been moved to having all 3 pieces of the old set. So the sets are shields, engine, and deflector for the original set and console, beam, and torpedo for the new one.

    Which is why I spammed every channel I was in yesterday and made a thread in STO Discussion to get the console now. Hopefully, some people that heard me got their console before it only became available through reputation.

    I snoozed and now I lose. I didn't get it when it was free and now I'm looking at 500 Omega marks and 15,000 dilithium. Sigh. It seems like everything costs dilithium now, including the recruitment pack mission.

    Is there any place where the grind has actually lessened? It seems like the addition of fleets made a lot of it and now there are all sorts of new marks to grind for.
