Does anyone have some advice on the fastest way to max my diplomatic skill so that I can get the BOFF from an enemy faction? I have been playing since the start and I am just barely at the point where I get transwarp to starbase sierra. How can I go WAY FASTER?

Cardassian space has a lot of missions and they use a variety of officer types so you can run a lot of them at a time. "Fast" is relative however; even if you already have an excellent DOFF array, you're still looking at a time measured in months if wanting to get to 100k. Even pulling in 2k a day, a fairly impressive number, its still gonna take 7 weeks.

I've tried this just to try this with a toon that had inherited many (now sold off) diplomat doffs from previous toons. It worked really well. But that gap between warping to Starbase Sierra and DS9 is huge. I gave up before I hit the end because I wanted to use the slot for my current character.
About two and a half months had passed before I pulled the plug.

I never said it was especially fast, just faster than normal. You can use your diplomats, but also get points from security officers, counselors, advisors, and tactical officers. Its still something intended to take time.
You can certainly optimize for Diplomacy. I got to level 4 Diplomacy via DOFFs. I bought Diplomats, Traders, Security Officers, etc., so I could run a circuit from Beta Ursae, Alpha Triangulai, and Zeta Andromodae, loading up on Diplomatic missions.
Selecting DOFFs based on playtime was important, definitely. If I was going to be playing a while, I'd take short ones that I could turn in before loading up more and/or logging out. If I was logging out or wouldn't be logging back in for a day or two, I'd take as many long ones a possible since they'd have larger rewards per assignment.
I don't know if you can power level them, but you can certainly be efficient!

Oh, and if you can spare some Zen (be it from the stipend, "change" from a purchase, or earn it via Dilithium), there are CXP boosts you can get. They'll give you 20% more CXP until the bonus pool is spent. Nice little something if you've got some change laying around.

It's a good excuse to log in daily when you're bored of waiting for some actual game to come out.
If you have about 500,000 ec, 20 hours, and don't mind being bored to tears. You can power level through rank 0-4. Half those numbers if you are just trying to get the last rank. If you want some advise on it, send me an in game mail @warrenhammand

I later changed to Sierra --> Deferi --> Beta --> DS9 --> Zeta --> Zenas by which most often I'd be full on doff missions.

And 10 CXP from every non combat exploration and Patrol. Those help at least a little.
