I must say I'm extremely disappointed with Romulan Bridge Officers available from Embassy Provision Stores not having access to any customization options whatsoever.
Even though these officers come in several varieties (Tac/Eng/Sci, Male/Female, Uncommon/Rare/Very Rare) all of them look exactly the same within their gender.
What's so special about those boffs that they cannot have at least some customization options? It's not the Breen, Borg drone or Jem'Hadar which have some unique heads or costumes. I am able to change the looks of any bridge officer - many of which having their own costume options, like Orions or Nausicaans - yet I can't change anything about these romulan boffs - not even their face? Am I to assume Romulans are involved in some kind of cloning experiments? Because having more than one of those on the bridge is surely going to look silly...
Also, their clothes look like some old rags. Truly worthy of a starfleet bridge officer uniform...
But I guess this is "working as intended". We can't get Cryptic to fix KDF Marauding boffs tailor customization, which has been bugged since day one (nearly a year now), so surely allowing some customization on anything new is outside of their priorities.
Is this from an official dev response or something you discovered on Tribble?
Either way, this is silly. I recruit Bridge Officers because they swore oaths to serve in Starfleet, not a motley crew of ragtag rebels and clones. Without opening up these customisation options, I don't why I should be interested in replacing my Alien Romulan in a Starfleet uniform with a genuine Romulan refugee.
Laws of thermodynamics as applied to life: 0 - You must play the game. 1 - You can't win. 2 - You can't break even. 3 - You can't quit.
No. I was able to purchase two uncommon boffs on Tribble - both looking exactly the same despite having different professions (sci and eng), and both having no Tailor customization option whatsoever. They're just like unique doffs from Feature Episode rewards, such as Breen, Jem'Hadar or Borg drone from Kithomer Accord. In those cases I can understand lack of customization, as these boffs use unique costumes and assets. I don't see however why there's no way to change the looks of generic humanoids. They should work exactly the same way how any other bridge officer works in the game, yet they don't.
And their clothes are similar to what civilians on New Romulus wear. It's not romulan military uniform of any kind, but aforementioned rags.
As much as I'd like this to be changed, I'm afraid we're just going to have to deal with it as it is. As I mentioned, Cryptic cannot seem to fix the KDF Marauding Boff bug since Season 5 launch (the one that prevents to change their look as well, as all changes reset all the time), so I doubt they'll suddenly add the option to customize any of the romulan boffs.
suaveks, I didn't know your fleet was that far ahead into the Embassy system on Tribble. I appreciate the fact you've checked things out first hand, and reported back so that the rest of us don't waste our marks and dil.
If Cryptic wants these special DOffs to have "unique" flavours, at least make standard Starfleet and KDF costumes available as an option in addition to the defaults.

That would be nice. The Breen I can kind of understand, since they have their cold containment suits, but all the others should have alternate options.
I came up with a fun lore-friendly excuse to cover these things:
Remember the Romulan observer on the Defiant? Like that, kind of. Remember T'Pol? Yep, she didn't wear the Enterprise uniform either. Counselor Troi was also happier with civvie clothing despite being a member of the crew for all intents and purposes. And let us thank our eternal space gods for whatever possessed Seven of Nine to wear what she did.
STO's player captains aren't "regular" Starfleet, but more like privateers. Freelance adventurers subordinate to the brass but not part of the rank-and-file. Hence the relaxed uniform rules, owning multiple ships, building random starbases willy-nilly, and all manner of hijinks.
please tell me i didnt just make room on my crew for a rommie BOff and i can't give her/him a federation uniform? i am already POed i cant give my orion chick i busted my tail off for weeks to get thru diplomacy a Fed uniform. come on cryptic, this is just low man.

Seconded. And giving that this person here I quoted presumably registered just to leave a feedback on this topic, you should get an idea how important a feature this is to the playerbase, PWE.
Resolved the issue that incorrectly allowed Romulan Bridge Officers to have their costumes changed. [Emphasis Added]
What? Why? Why would you ever NOT allow their costumes to be changed? Cryptic is supposed to be known for offering huge amounts of customization. I don't understand!
It's pretty sad, they don't even get unique abilities. Just a trait.
... and these traits don't even work. Romulan BOffs are currently just overprized and INFERIOR to BOffs from regular species.
To the devs:
Can we expect a fix for them soon? I spent a fortune on 4 Romulan BOffs and was very dissapointed to see that their traits don't work. Pleas don't tell me I have wasted all the Fleet Credits, Dilithium and time to unlock them in the embassy.
This is a big missed opportunity for Cryptic. Few people are going to drop the resources for yet another cookie-cutter clone boff. I really hope they reconsider.
And if noone noticed, before lor you could goto your bridge and see your romulan bofs at the stations, now you go and they are replaced by generic ship crew.
maybe they revamping them? seems odd they would remove them entirely, they were no more buggy than any of my other officers that sit in the floor of my bridge.

I was hoping to add a female Rommie to my Orion warband.

So there.
go back in time to drizana station vaporize poor red shirt when cought sneaking by accident
This isn't a Jem'Hadar, this isn't a Borg, this isn't a Reman, and this is NOT a Breen. SO WHAT'S THE PROBLEM!?
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.

Been here since closed beta. So not true. Was like that prior to PWE as well
