Fleet Gear now worth it?

I had started a new science toon just before season 7 and only had a chance to pick up the Borg Gear. I'm flying a science timeship and was curious what y'all thought about the fleet shields and which would be best for my purposes. The Borg shield with its fairly low capacity and 10% bleedthrough leaves me a bit squishy. The Fleet Shields seem the best alternative at the moment, but with dilithium at a premium, I'd like to make the best choice on my first pick.

I don't have STO on this PC so I'm not sure on the exact stats of the Fleet Shields, but between the two that I was looking at, one had very high capacity, low regen, and 10% bleedthrough, the other one had decent capacity (higher than Borg shield), good regen, and 5% bleedthrough / 5% absorption. I'm thinking the latter one may be better for my low-hull sci ship due to the 5% bleedthrough, but I'm just not sure if it's worth the sacrifice of 1,000+ capacity (or w/e the numbers happen to be).

Also, I'm thinking I like the resistance mod for Phasers and Tetryon as opposed to extra regen mod since those seem to be the most prevalent type of weapons in the queues (well, Phasers and Phased Tets that is).

And just in general, how do y'all think the other Fleet gear compares to the Borg set? I'm not even using the Borg deflector atm because it has bonus to graviton and no bonus to particle gen., and since I'm using TBR3, that's the opposite of what I want. And while the engine is nice for sector space, I'm thinking there may be better options for combat.

as a kdf i would only use the KHG shield if i has some combo of EPtS3, TSS3, TSS2, and 2 RSP. but by then your build is pretty compromised. fleet Resilient (resA) is the best option on a kdf ship 90% of the time

So damn broken strong... God I loves 'em

EDIT: To OP, I use some of the Fleet [Spd]/[Turn] engines and they're really nice. The best [Spd] ones even outclass Omega by a fraction, IIRC. Hopefully when I get my hands on the Elite upgrades it'll be even sweeter.

Fleet gear offers some solid options IMO, especially since you can no longer get the borg shield proc without running borg shields. I've been running with fleet shield/engine/deflector recently and haven't really been missing the STF alternatives. I currently only have access to the Advanced Fleet gear currently, so that's what I'll focus on.

For shields I really like the Resilient [Cap]x3 [ResA] option. It gives you a relatively high cap resilient shield with 15% resists to phaser, polaron, and tetryon weapons. Outside of MACO and probably some of the Elite Fleet shields its the next best shield option for most cases.

For engines there are two really nice options, the Hyper Impulse [Spd]x3 [Turn] and Hyper Impulse [Spd] [Turn]x3. I like the [Spd]x3 option better since they are the fastest engines in the game and there are more alternatives for boosting turn rate.

For deflectors you can get some nice mods, including boosts to accuracy, threat control, or hull repair. I've been going with the Positron Deflector with boosts to targeting systems and threat control. I believe there are some fleet deflectors that boost graviton generators and/or particle generators, but I wasn't really looking for those options, so I'd need to check again to be sure.

The cost is a bit steep for the fleet gear, with the advanced gear costing 53,600 fleet credits and 22,500 dilithium or something there about. However, compared to the new costs of the Mk XII STF gear, its not so bad in comparison.

To add to a comment above, the only way I have found the KDF set to make sense in PvP is with an Engineer in a ship with a high shield mod. MACO is great, and the fleet Elite gear is very good.

On my KDF B'rel torpedo boat, I had used the Assimilated engines and the Assimilated module.

I have switched to the Aegis engines for the 5% defense increase.

On my Fed, I have never used the Assimilated Engines. I used the Omega engines for awhile, but am now using the Advanced Fleet Hyper-Impulse Engines turnx3 spd. I love it and wouldn't give it up for anything.

Anyone know what the Elite Fleet Hyper-Impulse Engines look like?

It isn't really the omni-energy resist that's the problem, it's that MACO has a crazy power bonus passive to boost. It gives you that little bit more in your guns, your shields, your heals, everything.

MACO is like Tier 7 gear in Tier 5 environment.

One of the best benefits of the fleet shields (for the people using them) is that the damn reactive shielding buff icons clog up their buff tray to the point where if I have someone pinned, I can't see what the hell else they're running. TRIBBLE

You can SNB all that stuff off I believe.

Are you comparing the MK XI Omega Hyper-Impulse Engines to the MK XII Advanced Fleet Hyper-Impulse Engines [turn]x3 [spd]?

If so, the MK XII Omega get a slightly higher speed than MK XI. The same as the Fleet engines.

The higher MK gives you a slight, unlisted bonus.
For engines there are two really nice options, the Hyper Impulse [Spd]x3 [Turn] and Hyper Impulse [Spd] [Turn]x3. I like the [Spd]x3 option better since they are the fastest engines in the game and there are more alternatives for boosting turn rate.

There are alternatives to a higher turn rate, and I use all of them (1x purple mk XII RCS console + Tachyokinetic Converter). Even still, I chose the turn rate over the speed with the Fleet engines. I like having a higher impulse speed, but I find a higher turn rate is just as, if not more, important as impulse speed.

As for the Fleet deflectors, I wasn't as impressed. It seemed like the Omega and MACO deflectors had higher stats or more of them than the Fleet versions.
