Where have all the good players gone?!

khayuungkhayuung Member Posts: 1,876 Arc User
I've played Infected elites all weekend, for about 7 times. Each time I flew into a half-dead half abandoned (3 players) instance, and had to abandon it.

The fail seems to have increased, or at least my luck seems to have gone to ****. Anyone else finding this?

I would consider myself average at best, but I haven't played more than 3 stf's since the roll out of season 7. Completing them feels underwhelming now with no loot drops of any kind. Speaking for myself, that was the biggest fun of the STF's; the excitement of seeing what you got from the end loot and optional reward

I feel it may be the latter. Of course, I haven't played as many STFs, but I found in a pure PUG, stuff like Hive Normal was nearly undo able, but with groups from the EliteSTF channel (Great channel, worth a look into if you want groups that can finish STFs), we were able to go through things rather smoothly for the most part, only KASE had some issues (overshot the gates by a minute). Only thing that was personally slowing me down was my internet connection feeling rather chaotic last night. Since the Private queues are disabled though, not as many people are doing them though.

Not that I'm coming in and saying "oh look at me, I'm great", but personally with the fact that I simply don't get anything worthwhile from the STFs any more, I'm only doing one or two a day now. Before, I'd have done 10 - 12 in a day if I had the time. I think that's the case for most of the 'die hard' STF players.

Borticus mentioned (and I think they may have gone live on Tribble) that we'll be getting loot drops from Cubes and Tac Cubes soon - that might help a bit, certainly will make me feel a bit better queuing up for an STF.

Between the burn that all the die hard STFers are feeling and the fact that there's a new reputation system to grind out, I wouldn't be surprised if we won't really see as much STF activity for another 3 months or so - since it's going to take at least that long to grind out the rep system.

Many people have complained that something has changed and the Borg have gotten harder, so there may just be that many more people rage quitting from the burn/lack of rewards/difficulty combo.

    Two things,

    1) the Borg have gotten harder
    2) new season with a rep system that requires STFs; you get all the terribles that normally avoid stfs now queuing up trying to fill their mark quotas

So worse players and a harder enemies. The end result if pretty sad.

season 7 STF are just a chore to do. people only do some when they HAVE to. not anymore because it is fun and might drop some nice shiny stuff in the end. now its just robots running their daily task and then going to farm fleet actions in hopes of 1st place and maybe some good purple stuff. or they just log off to wait some idiotic reputation timers. STF as they were are dead.

It doesn't help that to get fuel for the reputation engine for Mk XII gear a lot of people (like me) are being forced into doing elites. As I've said, we don't want to be there and you don't want us there.

But as it stands there is no alternative way to get BNPs.

The queues pop for me at the same speed they always have. I think there's a lot of exaggeration going on.

Anyway, hopefully the drops being added soon will help with people's disenchantment. Personally I think they should add Mk XI purples to optionals. I'd get easy money and I'd get the entertainment of listening to people rage even harder about rainbow boats

Just curious, Does the Mk X and Mk XI stuff cost BNP? It really shouldn't if it does. Only the Mk XII gear should require elites.

I've just stopped playing on harder difficulty all together. After playing on it for the last year and now season 7, I just don't even bother with it.

The BEST game I've had was Infected Space with 2 other random guys.
    That was EPIC.

Anyway, Cure Space seems to be a n00b magnet as guarding the Kang appears to be an easy task.

I went back to Scotland for the weekend to visit my mum. I'm back now.

I'll check with you first next time o7

But echoing some of the other posts, STF's have now become a proper chore. If they hadn't put back the 960 dilithium and nerfed the fleet actions, I'd not do them until I was short of OM's.

Pre S7, I had 4 characters flying STF's and was considering building up a Klingon character for them too. Now with s7, i'm seriously considering dropping back to 2 character. The mutiple grinds for the rep systems are not my idea of fun.

No loot, no optional drops - I play STFs only when I run out of Omega marks, and even then its just ISE once or twice.

There is no fun in them anymore, so why should I bother?

I used to enjoy Infected because no matter how stupid everyone else was I alone could just hard-dps the 4 generators and transformer before any spheres arrive. After that if we still win the optional its epic, if not, hey, at least we finish and I get my 2 EDC.

Now I'm logging into a fight with the spheres already ON the transformer, and I haven't managed to peel them off yet long enough to tear the transformer apart before the next batch arrive.

I've tried joining the EliteSTF channel, but its private! Could someone invite me? I'm Towpok@meisterbabylon.

I've had the opposite experience. Ran ISE about 5 times this weekend while waiting on the PvP queues to liven up. Completed with optional all 5 times.

before season 7 you got imediate reward not always what you wanted but somthing. the anticapation was part of the joy. now is just grind and wait and wait. and hell yes we want the gear what is point of grinding months to get the gear you needed for the grind thats over?????? you are in a shrinking minority if you think this is grand and wonderfull. the f2p peps leaving in droves and revinues have to be suffering. eather they shot themselves in the foot or they actualy want to kill the game. if the first a major rethink and revamp needed bad.

Many people are coming back for season 7. The problem is that they already have lvl 50 characters but have no idea on how to play the game. We had the same issue shortly after season 6,in 2 or 3 weeks it should be fine.

I am also disappointed with what the STF's have become. We as fleet became very proficient at completing all of the STF?s with the optional. Now I can see no reason to run the ground missions at all.
At minimum to bring some purpose back to the STF?s please consider adding fleet marks to the STF?s as reward. Also we are a small fleet of about 20 players, we have managed to grind are way up to a Tier 4 Star base. Let me tell you it has been no joy ride, and now we are looking at the long grind to Tier 5.
Also since we are a small fleet it takes countless missions to achieve the fleet marks need to make the climb to the next tier. It would be nice to have larger rewards or more choices of missions.
My biggest complaint is that there not enough Varity so I would suggest cryptic add a fleet mark reward for completing an optional on the elite STF?s for example. (25 or 50 fleet marks). Then it gives players a reason to do all the missions again.

    It's us just shadows!!!

Most "good" STF Elite players have moved on or quit the game in dissapointment. I used to love doing them either for drops or dilithium. Since S7, I stopped completely and went back to Dil based areas. I see those full house (i.e Breaking the planet, temple, scout force) before they used to be ghost towns.

Most of the peeps there doing them for Dil and drops...if you are looking for good players some of us are still there or moved on to SWTOR..:).
