Dilithium Debacle

loazannethloazanneth Member Posts: 11 Arc User
Dear Cryptic

You guys are greedy. The dilithium requirements and rewards you changed in season 7 are ridiculous. 5000 dilithium now to upgrade blue duty officers to purple? if memory serves right it used to be 500. 2000 dilithium to do General Recruitment for duty officers when it used to be FREE? And my personal favorite 5 Nuroprocessors for 1000 dilithium? REALLY? 5 Elite STF's = 1000 dilithium. Back before Season 7 you got 1440 Dilithium EVERY ELITE STF not including modules and other items you could trade in for dilithium.

Come on guys. It's bad enough that you cap dilithium at 8k a day 9k if you have the Veterancy. Plus the shear amount of dilithium we have to dump into fleet projects which we have more now due to embassy. I understand you need to make a profit off of C-store but seriously enough is enough. You are OVER-milking your customers.

Clapping. Sinc S6 the game has gone down hill, good ideas, poorly implemented. New leadership is needed.

I agree with this post, the dilithium costs are way too high, especially for the recruitment missions.
I understand the reasons (from a purely business standpoint), however, there is something to be said about not killing your clientele. Particularly in charging for services that used to be free.
Imagine this in another business setting whereby I used to offer all of my customers free cab rides to the store every two days. Now my costs have gone up (or I just got a little more greedy) and decide to charge... what do I do? According to STO, now I charge them $200 for the same service.. it easy to understand how some people will feel cross with this.
If it was 50 or even 100, most people would just eat it and chug along, but 2000?
These changes need to be rethought and I doubt the greater community is happy with it.

One of the most difficult problems for any MMO is how to find a way to provide content for all the different types of game styles of players.
Before S7 I was able to get along fine without much grinding. I gathered up DOFFs and fleet marks for my fleets star-base and occasionally entered an STF or two for fun or extra dilithium to also donate.
My time on the game is limited and I don't have enough time to do 10 Elite STFs to trade for 2000 dilithium.. lol.. sure there are other ways to get dil, but I thought this example exemplifies the bad modeling at work here.

Exactly right, F2P members and casual players are completely screwed for casual enjoyment and development of their characters.

Well the can do it in phases. But S7 is completely different than I inagined. I was willing to see STF dilithium nerfed if I was going to see more places elsewhere. the FA's only do not COUNT. I expected new storyu mission content, New Romulus doesn't do that, it's a another form of Defari Invasion and Nukara. And in the few minor changes it in the end failed. Only keep the character changer and the scan. DELETE EVERYTHING ELSE.

I can kind of understand Cryptic wanting to stabilize the dilithium economy a bit since a lot of the free to players were using dilhtium to affect the in game economy. But at the very LEAST they should give subscribed and lifetime members easier ways to make dilithium caps and either higher or no dilithium caps

Its free to play, but it isnt free for the developer to produce. If you want to play a game, be prepared to pony up some $ or put in some work. This game would be Star Trek: Farmville if it were completely free to play.

Cryptic backed themselves into the dilithium economy we have now. It is their fault dilithium is becoming more valuable. When everything is requiring it, people with Zen tend to buy it all up. The price was at 220 when I started this game in July. Now look at it. 157 dilithium per Zen.

Less dilithium means the ZEN price is going to even get better for people who hold on to it. At 100 dilithium per Zen I am selling all mine regardless.

If they left dilithium in the personal reputation system, I would have left my fleet to complete it. There is no way I would shell out dilithium to do both and I am sure they figured out that many players would do the same.

So while I am not an economist, it doesn't take one to understand a little "supply and demand". If you increase the demand (through projects) without supplying more (through fleet actions, stfs etc) then the value is going to go up. Tons of Zen per dilithium, which gives even someone like me (gold sub), a reason to sell it.

I know of one game that already defeats your comment. Yes they do sell things in a cash store, but its all cosmetic and none of it is game altering. They also give all game content freely. In case you didn't guess its RoM.

I'm half agree with OP but like someone say it's a f2p games they need to make money. I why i think for free member is good like that ( maybe a little bit not enough dilithium)

But for lifer and gold member it's a shame !! because at the end if we want use all the game features we have to do like free member and pay more and more.

The problem is the dilithium is use for everything, you want a ship need dil, you want a costume need dil, you want stuff ( weapons, consoles....) need dil, you want EC need dil ....

That too much i feel i play a asian game where i need to pay more than a normal game or need to farm and farm and farm ....

Before i had to do only 2 or 3 STF and some other quest for have my 8k dil, not too much and that mean i will not have to farm every days because if i do more one day i will do less after. But now i have to spend all my time for farm dil and EC and don't have the time to play, don't enough dil for my fleet or ship or stuff.

Sorry for free member but my problem with what happen is they completely forget the people who support the game and pay every month for it.

That simple if they continue no subscription and no money for this game

it;s not that. I don't mind having to grind a bit to get somethings you get easily. they have a budget for this game but we see them waste it on things that didn't need changing. And note alot of subs are leacing the sub area. they are loosing money from this bad move.

Sorry to say, I'm one of them. Last month was my last as a gold...

I can use that $15usd on something I can 'use'. Like the Dil they took. 1500 dil purchase, is better than a 500 stipend.

I usually spend $50 a month in game, but, it isn't worth it now. I would have to use it all on Dilithium.

    No you don't understand me,

First I'm a gold member i pay every months for this game

Second it's not grind a bit, now is only grind. Think about when you need dilithium. You need it for everything in the game even for EC now. before you grind a bit do some stf some mission and after you can play like you want but now you need to farm dilithium because you need it for everything.

And i'm sorry again but as a gold member i shouldn't have the same problem than Free member

i think the same but if it's all the respect they show to the people who support this game i will stop give money at all even if i'm a big fan of star trek i'm not give money to someone like that.

And one thing i want if a dev or other person read that, I play this game since the closed beta, at the start the shop was only for cosmetic ( and we had the promise it will stay like that). First you had a powerful ship on the shop and the most of people said nothing. After we had more ship on the shop but we could unlock them when you was level 50, we said nothing. after had the lockbox, we said nothing. You put the level 50 ship's on the market only and can't unlock it only if we buy it and for only one character, we start to not happy but forgive (tell me if i forget something). And now that !!! i think you go too far and you must stop think player are stupid and are only money, you will lose everything
