Someone in another thread, who seems to be a die hard fan and is going to play this game forever apparently, said this game is growing. But growing into what?
It's definitely growing, but not into a Star Trek game.
Grind is growing though.
Dissension is growing.
Kitchen full of cups is growing?;)
Is STO really growing and getting better, or is it just adding in more grindy things to do, with really not much substance behind the whole game?

I don't know what you are talking about.
This isn't Star Trek at all except in name. Nobody but pwe would argue that.
"Growing into what?" Is a hilarious question.
If anyone knows that I would love to see their stock portfolio because they would have the ability to see the future.
But listening to 100 percent of the people who post on these hoards, we don't have anyone close to a warren buffet here.

I've dumped more money into CP than I care to think about (but haven't done as much since the Zen transition since my bank doesn't like the payment processors (I've resorted to Steam Wallet now)), but I'm always trying to stick up for the casual player that only has a few hours a week to play.
Sure, I was a hardcore STO-player at one point, as is evidenced by Steam telling me i've played for 2,037.1 hours since the game launched.
But I can't afford to keep dumping cash into microtransactions anymore, let alone dumping it into the Dilithium exchange to make up for the fact that I can't keep up with the grind. I've got a 40+ hour per week job, and that job is being threatened by the unstable economy AND the changing climate (I do IT for a upscale resort that relies on people travelling to go skiing in the winter). I don't know if I'll have a job a year from now, I need to put aside what little surplus pay I make into savings, not throwing it into the game simply because I don't have an extra 30 to 40 hours a week to make up for the fact that the time-cost of dilithium grinding is going through the roof.
Cryptic, in the recent past you have said that "casual players" make up the majority of the player base of this game. If that's the case, then why have some of the decisions made recently in regards to dilithium expenditures and accumulation been aimed squarely at the things that casual players use to get at least a little bit of grind done without eating up the time that they use while in-game to do the things they actually want to do?
While I'm going to pass off the loss of the ability to do push button/get bacon missions for the Foundry Daily as a necessary evil (because seriously, even I think that was an exploit), why the removal of dilithium from the B'Tran Daily? Why the addition of a dilithium cost to General Recruitment?
I can't possibly be STO's Warren Buffet since I don't have 10 of everything in the game and a 5-figure Zen balance, but I'm going to keep fighting for the casual player.
The opinions expressed in my posts are not necessarily those of my employer or Subspace Radio.

I still have ideas, so many ideas on where this game COULD be going, but with the grind, I am afraid it may never get there story or role playing wise.
From my perspective, the game is growing content-wise, but at a very slow pace. If this was Trek TV, it would be like waiting for the next episode which come every couple of months than the next week.
Stahl once bragged that Perfect World doubled their team, but where is the content to reflect? Was the majority of those new people are really with the Neverwinter Team?
As for Perfect World, I really don't like the direction they are taking us. Their desire for player's money is just too apparent, and that just turns people off. With Season 6, they slowly closed their hands and started reducing our Dilithium intake at the same time making us burn it with these Starbases. Now with Season 7, the fist is closed and they effectively cut off a good percentage of players Dilithium income. We aren't playing the game how we want to play it, they are making us play the game how they want us to play it. This is a major turn off for the majority of players. And even long-term supporters of this game are giving up on STO for the first time.
At this rate, the legend of Season 7 will likely be true. Where no Star Trek has ever survived past seven season.
If the Cryptic team is truely passionate about Star Trek as they bragged about, they need to grow a pair and tell Perfect World to rethink things. Because the Eastern Way of running MMOs isn't working out after all. Unless their intention really was to ruin Star Trek so they can move on to Neverwinter and bleed those players dry after a year or two.

I've been here on and off since the beginning of beta. The idea that the game is falling into some sort of dark abyss has been a common theme for years, regardless of the changes.
The fact is, a year and a half ago I didn't have a lot of hope for this games growth. The idea of adding a Romulan faction was laughable, and development was near a standstill.
Now? Seasons are released quickly, I have hope that Romulans will one day be a reality, and all sorts of stuff is released into the game, even if I'm not a big fan of the method (Lockboxes).
You can continue preaching your doom and gloom though, just realize that someone else will be making the exact same post 2 years from now.

I think casual players are being punished for the actions of hardcore grinders. It's like Telcos throttling everyone's bandwidth because 1 guy out of 10 downloads excessively.
That is what i think of Cryptic, a giant hungry money eating monster and growing, also customer support time waiting for a simple answer or response is growing into weeks from days from hours. Yes, it is growing. I like the game but not the people who are running it, record time for me for a response from them is 3 days, and it was automated response that didn't even answer my issue, although i figured out what the problem was eventually, i still don't like being brushed off like that.
So there you have it, an old child's game comparison to how they run this one, which is more respect than they deserve till they improve their customer support for starters. Then we can discuss the excessive costs and season 7 raising the costs even higher with doffs. yeah that's right, your free doffs at the academy will now cost you dilithium aka general recruitment 1000...When I think of Cryptic I think of my stinky finger.
