Guramba siege mode questions

vesterengvestereng Member Posts: 2,252 Arc User
So I thought about getting this ship, mainly because I like moving parts and spamming sound effects.

My questions are, how often can you go into siege mode, what is the cooldown and can you dis-engage it at will. Also can you go into siege mode outside of combat in normal space ?
Can you sit at a starbase and spam siege mode in front of everyone ?

The sto wiki says the cooldown is 20 seconds ? And of course lastly I don't see a lot of them, so if I can't spam in and out of transformer mode in normal space, is it worth it ?

Also I see it can't load cannons and has no cloak so what's the overall value of the ship ?

Wow this needs to be in KDF shipyard they are much more experienced with that.

    So you don't know ;P

Well I only ever saw one of them but I can't remember if he was able to enter siege mode outside combat.

I am not joking when I say I am willing to get the ship just to sit in space and spam the transfomer sound effect and animation

I have one on my KDF char.

It can be used outside of combat, CD I believe is indeed something like 20 seconds, essentially you can transform in any map that isn't sector space.

    Nice, thanks.

Can you exit siege mode manually, it said you have to fire on end it or can you just do siege mode again after the 20 seconds regardlessly ?

Are you sure about the "can't load cannons" part? It's been a while since I've used my KDF Nausicaan Tac (who has a Guramba), but I could've sworn it was capable of loading cannons.

Unless they changed that in a patch at some point..?

Yeah, it can definitely load cannons. Siege mode can be used pretty often, but generally after you do a big attack run you'll like the normal mode to turn around and reposition.

Definitely a fun ship, you should get it. Just keep in mind it doesn't have the maneuvarability of raptors, so you might need more healing or defensive abilities, even with the extra hull.

Well it's turn rate is still pretty great when not in siege mode. It doesn't necessarily cripple you to fly in non siege mode but it switches over pretty quickly so if you need to maneuver for any reason you can do that fairly well.

Overall it's a beast of a ship, one of the few worth their asking cstore price. I hate seeing them in kerrat when I'm there on the fed side.

-siege mode - click transform, click again transform back (this will initiate 20second cooldown)

-Yes you can siege mode out of red alert (but not in sector space)

-'spaming seige mode' will start the transformation animation stop, pop to the siege model, then back to cruise mode

    it CAN load cannons,
No cloak (short of mask energy signature/KHG 3piece set ability)

Value- acts like a patrol escort, siege mode give you less turn rate but a bit more offencive power, best used on stationary/predicatble targets (borg),

Javelin is an alright attack, shares cooldown with beam overload (i think Fire at will too) but NOT subsystem targeting

It should be noted there is a small period where you cant activate abilities during the transformation (very brief) but can be a problem.
[Combat (Self)] Your Bite deals 2378 (1475) Physical Damage(Critical) to Spawnmother.

Thanks a lot for the help everyone appreciate it.

The reason I said no cannons is cannons aren't listed in the item discription on the store.

Oh it can most definetly pack them. Beast of a litile ship but from a pure tanking and DPS PoV i find that switcing to seige mode and never switching back/using the javelin produces better sustained PVE dps than switchng all the time, those few seconds during each minute or so where you can't shoot your weapons while it transforms one way or the other really add up. PvP is diffrent of course.
