Ah, so I have been em reading the Titan books, and well. Honestly, I having had made a Cardassian BOFF, and I know several in my group who have made Cardassian COs. I'm just wondering, and this would be for BOTH factions. If one day in the very, far, far future of STO. If anyone here would be game for playable Cardassian and I mean true Cardassian. C'mon you know you've done the whole guide and made one as an alien.
Still, wouldn't it be something, and of course they'd have their own little buffs. So, yes, no, or are we still pondering on the faction, honestly I don't see a Cardy faction happening but I do see a playable Cardy Captain.
If you are in support, of course why, and no then why on your not supporting this, and of course, buffs, what are your ideas for buffs. Don't ask me I'm like stupid when it comes to this stuff, and it's the very reason I ask the folks in my Fleet, so I make sure I am building what I actually want to build as I move along.
The reason I'm asking you lot on buffs is that I want to see what you come up with, and it might help me overall understand more of what the heck goes on in my skill tree. =]
Well in The Path to 2409 the Cardassian Government allows its citizens to join Starfleet, so there should very well be playable Cardassians.
I'm thinking they should have an attribute that makes them resilient to heat damage but more affected by cold (a variant of the Cold Blooded trait). They would have Acute Senses (they have good eyesight). Metal Discipline would be an option.
My Romulan Liberated Borg character made it to Level 30 and beat the (old) Defense of New Romulus with the skill point bug.
The closest a player can get is to create an alien character and make it look like a Cardassian. I did just that using a tutorial I found on the net and my main fed tac is a Cardassian.

In cannon they point out that Cardassian men are good tacticians but bad theorists, and the reverse for Cardassian women, which does explains why all of the CU scientists and techs that appear in DS9 are gals.
To go along with this the male and female Cardassians could have slightly different traits like was done with the Orions.
On an unrelated note, Cardassians were said to have bad hearing so you could argue that cancels out the better eyesight (i.e. make Acute Senses an optional trait instead of a required one).
One of my characters in an EMH (i never really make captains, just members of the crew) I have several various "personality settings", one of which is cardassian. It looks good and it lets me play the part when i feel like it, but as a whole, i agree that it's about time to add them to the list of playable species. Since launch there hasn't been much in the way of improving the character creator and almost 3 years later i think would be a nice time to start adding them in.
Whilst I'd love to see playable Cardassians, I don't think they'd be too suited for Klingon use. The Klingons have never liked the Cardassians; and likewise, the Cardassians don't like the Klingons very much. They've been to war twice within the last century alone.
I feel a Cardassian Boff would be unwise in the Empire. Instead, another species (Talarian?) should be given to the Klingons instead.
i too would like more playable races and NOT just for feds
As do I,but I do not look forward to learning that the KDF is about to go against its on grain and become a helping hand to the Cardassians as well when the Devs are unable to expand beyoind the fed mindset for writing the expansion.
Ah then yes, we would have to find someone for the Klingons then won't we? Perhaps one of the other races from Starfleet Command. Or maybe the Hydrans, just a thought. I suggest the Lyrans but there's already a cat-like species in the KDF.
The Kinshaya are also one of those traditional rivals of the Klingons, and the Tzenkethi... I don't think they would suit it, just an opinion based on researching Memory Beta. I can certainly possibly see the Talarians.
I already have a playable Cardassian and two Cardassian Boffs. Making them an "official" race would have just limited the ability choices I had to pick from when I created him. Look at how restricted you are when creating a Gorn character as a good example.
And most likely, it would have cost even more Zen that I could use for other things such as ships.
Cardassians are one of my fav species, it would be amazing to make one instead of having to use the alien creator.
Exactly!
Along with getting bonuses for having a playable Cardassian, the traits that are possible that could coincide with buffs for space/ground. I myself have created a Cardassian BOFF but I'd love to recieve a Cardi Boff or Captain. Just to have more to the game.
Playable android for FED And KDF Augments for lifetime
don't get get your hopes up I would rather have playable cardassian but we are getting romulans first

Don't quote me here, but I believe Cryptic were told no when it came to the Tzenkethi. I can't remember the reasons though I'm sure someone will be able to dig up the old thread?
As for Starfleet Command races; there's a whole lot they could use there (they've even got more information on the Tholians that would be linked up). However, just as we can't get ships from the DS9: Dominion Wars game, I doubt we'll be able to have species from the Starfleet Command games.

Yes please!! Playable for both factions, and if a distiction must be made, perhaps Oralian Way for Fed and True Way for KDF. And I know I've harped on this in my other few posts, but make sure they have proper necks and more fancy hairstyles.

I'm pretty sure they left them out because they wanted to make them part of a faction, the same reason the Romulans & Jem'hadar aren't playable races even though they are more prominently featured than Tellarites, Saurians, Pakled etc
I'm assuming they are still holding that as an eventual goal, since they could honestly make a ton of money off selling these race unlocks on the C-store. We know Cryptic loves to make money hand over fist, so it only makes sense that they have their reasons for not adding them yet. Maybe with the game doing much better monetarily since F2p, additional factions may actually happen one day.
Like everyone else here, I have a Cardie captain, too. Dukat is still my favorite character in any Star Trek.
It'd be nice to have the option to select a preconfigured cardie and then adjust things like scale depth or whatever, but I'm happy having shapeshifting aliens.
If PW or Cryptic or CBS or whoever runs this now wants to make a for-zen cardie, by all means, just don't change the alien options for the rest of us.
I doubt they would change the alien options, but the Pre-generated Cardassian would have its pros and cons like all races. I'm not to worried about playin g a Jem'Hadar or Vorta any time soon. But, Having had my own Cardassian Boff I thought what if I wanted to continue her story. I could obviously go the alien route but I don't know.
It's just something nice to have as an option even if you have to purchase through the Z-Store.
Pfft.
They can barely manage a KDF faction and this little Romulan faction will be fun for a while yes, but as I've stated in previous posts. Without a full fledged unique 50 level pve storyline. I refuse to level my Orion which means nothing to Cryptic I guess since I don't spend my money on KDF items. only Fed.
I wish they'd jjust start incorperating these other races into the two current factions and focus on what they have.

I don't think making the True Way ally with the KDF would make sense given that we had the Klingons fight against the True Way in one of the Devidian Arc episodes. Furthermore...I doubt even the True Way would forgive the Klingons for what they did to Septimus III. Klingons and Cardassians are like oil and water.
But I would LOVE Cardassians as a playable race for the Federation. With proper necks and hairstyles suited to them.
As far as what traits they should have, I would say that based on the show, "Acute Senses" is a bad choice. However, I DO think that "Mental Discipline" would be a suitable preset trait, given Gul Dukat's little mind-meld-breaking demonstration, and the numerous references throughout DS9 to the Cardassians' eidetic memory and discipline.

If build a Cardassian Tac He is flying a Galor Class with Spiral Wave Disroptors and Photon Torpedos. His Bridge Officers are Breen and Jem Hadar and other Cardassians.
Awesome funny to play that DS9 way
But how ich can build a beautiful uniform? I tend to Omega Outfit?
Well, at least we have confirmation that we are getting Cardassians at some time...
Q: (pegasussgc) I've seen several Romulan NPC's with the correct Romulan forehead detail and Cardassian NPC's with "Cardassian friendly" hairstyles, can you put these options in the game so we can make are Alien/Romulan or Alien/Cardassian characters more realistic?
Dstahl: These hairstyles and foreheads are specifically reserved for when we offer Romulans and Cardassians as playable species (which will happen) because they are defining characteristics of those species.
(Scource: Ask Cryptic, Dec.2012)
I just hope that we'll be able to get a re-species token from the c-store by that time, so I can convert my Cardassian/Alien Galor Captain (and his rare/very-rare all-Cardie Doff Cadre. ) to a real Cardassian.
I agree, a respecies token should be given for that, given the large number of people playing Alien/Cardassians and Alien/Romulans. I wonder, would there be any way for Cryptic to survey players and figure out just how many of us there are playing such characters, to find out how much interest there really is? (Between Cardassians and Romulans, it's got to be pretty high.)
They should also include the realistic neck.

Indeed, we have Ferengi, and Caitian but no Cardassian. Do you think this could be something pushed out for Season 8?

Oh well. Have to settle for the alien template, but one can always hope!
