Warning! Don't lose your Expired Exchange items!

forjoatinxanforjoatinxan Member Posts: 88 Arc User
Be warned. If you have anything on the exchange that is about to expire, there is a flaw in the game design that can result in you losing these items due to never receiving the e-mail that would normally return an expired item to you.

This flaw concerns what happens if you are unable to chat due to multiple people ignoring you. You may have done nothing wrong, and Cryptic will not help you if this happens to you -- you'll simply be unable to chat, and more importantly, UNABLE TO RECEIVE MAIL for the specified period.

If this happens to you, IMMEDIATELY REMOVE ANY EXCHANGE ITEMS ABOUT TO EXPIRE.

If they expire while you can't chat, YOU WILL LOSE THEM AND THE GMS WILL NOT GET THEM BACK FOR YOU.

Please let your friends and fleets know about this as this message may get buried.

This happened to me this past weekend. At least six items (some might have been stacks) that I had listed on the exchange disappeared and I can't tell if they sold or expired (or some combination). I think some may have sold as my EC balance is higher than I remember, but I don't think the amount is consistent with the value I had the items listed for.

Be warned.

    Good advice.
I would also push for a timer to show on the exchange for the items you have posted, to show how long they have left.

This information is false -- you still receive mail even if you've been silenced. We just tested this out to be sure.

    Cheers,

Both great ideas. Thanks for the heads-up.

On another note, is there a feature somewhere in the options that disables all incoming private messages? Every now and then when I'm in an STF, PvP Map or simply conducting my business at DS9, etc, more often than not, whenever a player PM's me, when I try to reply, it will say "@_ _ _ _ is ignoring you".

These are complete strangers with everyday legitimate questions or responses to something mention in zone chat.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Actually in some ways I wish this information was true so I wouldn't have to go hunt down all that TRIBBLE and not get spammed to death every time something didnt sell.

    Then your testing is FLAWED!

Explain what happened to mine Brandon?!?

I had at least 6 items disappear and received no notification of any kind.

Check my account before you call me a liar.

Either an unfortunate glitch, you're misremembering the situation or just plain PEBKAC...
    A world to defend
    A city to protect
    innocents to save
"Why?" They ask "they hate you"
We're heroes it's what we do.

This happened this weekend. My memory is crystal clear -- and I posted WHILE it was happening. And don't bring out the keyboard and chair nonsense. I KNOW what those items were there and I KNOW I received no emails regarding their outcomes.

Please, if you have nothing to contribute, then move along.

I find your approach to handling these sorts of things both heavy-handed and extremely tacky by the way.

It's fine to reply in a thread but to edit an OP this way is poor form.

You really should not be editing original posts with commentary, you also edited one of my posts about the increasing S7 costs to make it look like I was lying which I really didn't appreciate.
Delta Rising is the best expansion ever and the players love it! No, seriously! ...Why are you laughing so hard? :(

Most players glance at an OP and move on. It's important false information is not spread and is corrected so players are not mislead. I didn't edit the OP other than the title, and provided a comment. I could have removed the post all together.

The information in the OP is false. The team tested the scenario and found mail still to be incoming. I can't explain what happened, and can not look into the account. If there are further concerns, only the GM team will be able to assist through a ticket.

This thread is now closed, and the discussion of the scilencing system can continue in this thread: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=387101

EDIT: The intention is not to call anyone a liar :) I do want to point out results of our test in that we found incoming mail to still be recieved by a silenced user. I hope the GM team can assist Frojo. I've personally escalated it to the Lead GM as I too would like to find out what happened.

    Cheers,

    Brandon =/\=
