So the Vesta is going to be released with three different ship variants (like most other ships in the game). Why don't the Odyssey, Chimera, and their Klingon equivalents have variants like that yet?

there is only 3 or 4 actual kdf players. Cryptic doesn't think it is worthwhile giving them new ships in any way shape or form, sorry.
I would kill to get a different look on an ody i know its hard because of the hull separation and the likes but they did it for the galaxy why not the ody now

I cant even understand your line of thinking, or what your point is supposed to be.
But you must be confused so ill try to help.
The Vesta will have 3 versions yes. Most other ships in game do NOT have 3 versions.
The Odyssey, and Klingon Bortasqu have 3 versions.
The Chimera is a vetran, or lifetime sub reward, and therefore is only 1 version.
Hope that helps..
you dont seem to understand , the Odyssey, bortas'qu and the destroyers are pretty much the only ships aside from lockbox ships that dont have alternate SKINS
you know , heavy escort for example , three versions , akira , oslo and zephyr
hes not talking about seperate ships entirely
because the Odyssey and Bortas are the center pieces of the both factions it is only right that they should have an element of customization.
However there is also the fact that cryptic toot customization as a big thing for them, then why dont they give it to us
To be fair the new 1000 days ships are brand new i can see having to wait for them but the Flagships have been out for some time now there not brand new. The Vesta on the other hand isnt brand new its not even out yet and its 2 steps ahead of both
Thats the justification

well , you could say that , and at the same time you couldnt , have to remember that STO doesnt follow the novels , events that happen in the books dont necessarily carry over into STO , for example , yes the Aventine under ezri is mentioned , but theres no word on the cealiar , the utter defeat of the borg, forming of the typhon pact etc , whos to say ' this ' vesta class isnt brand new in STO's timeline
so the whole modular design thing that the Starfleet Engineers came up with and were so proud of just happened to skip the Flagship did it. Someone sat at a desk and thought ohhh i know lets abandon the most current construction method and go back to what we did years ago and make our newest most advanced cruiser
hummm sounds about right

The thing is, Cryptic is known for having hugely customizable characters. I just don't understand why, as tanith1989 alludes to, after Cryptic created a whole in-game explanation for having customizable ships, and went to a lot of effort to allow players in the same exact class / type of ship to actually look different from each other, they then drop that customization for very prominent ships that many people will buy or receive. I don't want to look like everyone else, and I just don't get why the Vesta has options and other special ships don't.
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
The Vesta is a a ship class pushing 30's in STO, at one point 1 or 2 decades ago they experimented with the design leading to the subclasses.
The Odyssey and Bortas are BRAND NEW DESIGNS off the shipyard, they DONT have variants at this point.
And the 1000 day ships are limited ships, what excuse can you make for then to have variants?
This is pretty much correct, not that cryptic cares about in game time lines, Vesta has been around long enough to actually warrant the need to produce different variants for different missions, cruise tours etc. In game time line the Odyssey/destroyers would be less then a year old, it technically shouldn't even be mass produced yet let alone have different ship variants for different circumstances.
That being said, I guess it couldn't hurt to have different variants not like canon or logic for that matter means much in STO. Or better yet make the Odyssey Bridge a C-store purchase instead, best bridge imo.
Some new skins for the Odyssey and Bortasqu' would be nice. How about this:
Bortasqu'
Bortas class
Maht-H'a class
Vor'nak class
Odyssey
Odyssey class
Iliad class
Achilles class
While I want Achilles class in the game, it would be terrible for the Odyssey.
First, Achilles is a small small ship with similar size to the Prometheus.
Second, Achilles is an fast escort with very good mobility.
Third, PW or Cryptic will have to get the license for Achilles from another developer and that will probably be the hardest part.

Or they could make their own Achilles class that is an Odyssey variant, because Cryptic isn't bound to any soft canon unless they decide to license it or some such.

I just picked the Achilles name out of the Iliad; I didn't know it was a real Star Trek ship. :P
