Mirror Universe Vessels

flash525flash525 Member Posts: 5,441 Arc User
Put simply, are they worth it? Short of having the same ships (alternated) with some Boff differences (pretty much switched) are these things really worth much? To purchase a 2nd Tier #5 ship from the Dock is going to cost me around 120,000 in Dilithium, that's a good 15 days of hard grinding.

Failing that, I can pay between 100 and 500 for a Mirror Universe Vessel via the Exchange. Think the Science Vessels are going for around 100/200, the Engineering Vessels are going for 400/500.

If there is little (to any) difference between them, then I might as well get a Mirror Universe Vessel and put my Dilithium towards Zen Conversion.

Depends on who you ask. Personally I love the mirror vessels because they're easy to get via exchange and they're a damn sight cheaper to boot. It also gives you flexibility with the appearance of your vessel. Say you hate the standard recon sci ship but want it's setup while you love the deep space sci ship but hate it's consoles, you can go for the mirror recon, keep the look you like and get the setup you want.

Beyond that they're decent enough vessels in and of themselves (hands up anyone who's been in an STF WITHOUT seeing a Mirror Assault Cruiser?) and can compete fairly well at the top level.

As an added bonus you get an extra 'skin' choice with the mirror material too.

Bottom line is it comes down to personal choice and wealth, it's much easier to pay a couple of hundred thousand EC than working your backside off to part with dilithium you could be spending on Zen.
***The above ramblings are, as always, my own opinion. Based on my experiences and interpreted by my mind, they by no means reflect the universal truth (unless coincidentally). Peace.***

Federation Mirror Universe ships are exactly the same as prime universe ships except their skins have been swapped. As consoles go they are identical to their prime universe counterparts.

KDF mirror ships are usually alternate console and BOff setups for the ship, and in some cases better *cough Mirror Qin *cough.
I personally find the Mirror Vor'cha to be interesting, but not quite my can of worms, not enough tactical options (hence why I fly a Tor'Kaht), but someone who wanted a more sciency feel will go for it.

The Mirror Qin is a great ship, and it allows you to run full cannons on the heavy raptor without wasting a BOff slot. Also that added ENGINEERING ensign significantly increases it's survivability. Basically, it's a different ship but only in BOff slots, unlike the Vor'Cha which I believe is different in consoles only (I may or may not be wrong, don't have one/fly one and atm am too tired to look in the wiki for confirmation).

So it's up to you. If it were up to me (federation me that is), I would use the free ship token to get an escort (patrol or advanced), and then use 150-250k ecs to get myself a Mirror cruiser or science vessel. Saves on dil, and you just have a slightly different appearance. Me likey savey my dilithium XD.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once. B)

I agree completely with this. I mean, it's essentially the KDF equal to a Patrol Escort with a cloak. To me, that is REALLY nice. I bought one for my KDF Tac, and have thought about getting one for my Eng as well.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

Agree on the escorts, Fed-side, but what will the KDF-alternative be?

    BoP's? Negh'Vars? Vu'Qov?
They don't have a whole lot of choice, other than these, unless I'm forgetting things.

They've had Vor'cha and Qin, so BoP or Vu'Qov would seem logical in terms of ship categories...
I'd immediately sign for a mirror BoP, so I can get my Sci and Eng a back-up BoP on the cheap ^^

I could see a tactical-heavy Vu'qov... that would be awesome.

Thing to note is though Mirror in this game was supposed to be opposite of the Prime yet Mirror recon and deep space are the same.

most mirror ships are better buys then the dil store versions, but the mirror recon sci ship has the turn rate of the deep space sci which is worse so that one may not be such a good buy.

I am a fan of the mirror universe ships and have built up quite a collection for the KDF ones and well as FED. I personally have a Star Cruiser as my ship while it's look is of a Enterprise E I would not change it for the normal version. all we need is a MU bridge to make it a proper Mu ship

Having gotten both Mirror Science Vessels, I can say that thus far I am pretty happy with both of them, as they have the Boff slots I was looking for (Comm. Sci and Lt. Comm. Sci) as well as a bunch of other requirements I personally wanted.

I did get them primarily for the fleet actions, some of which seem pretty welcoming to sci abilities that involve healing and Crowd Control, and from my experience, they do it to the point where I can feel satisfied with it.

I posted about this a while back. I do love the Mirror ships (especially now that we can have the I.S.S. prefix), but one problem I have is with the assault cruiser. If you buy the regant variant, you can use that
on your MU cruiser, but you can't use the Riker console that comes with it. What is equally vexing is that if you have a mirror assault cruiser and a regent variant, you can use the mirror skin on your regent variant and use the Riker console, but you can't use the I.S.S. prefix. It's minor, but annoying. Hopefully they will change this. Also, it would have been nice if they put the actual Terran Empire emblem on the ship and not just the yellow paint job. Come on guys, is that hard? Here's hoping for a Mirror Dreadnought!

They're opposites of each other, same as the mirror star cruiser and assault cruiser.

The Assault and Star Cruisers are reversed in mirror so all prime tac oriented ships should be science oriented in Mirror and vice versa. That's the route Cryptic started so should stay true to that.

Well, appreciate all the feedback (I wont lie, I actually forgot about this post of mine) :o

Either way, I went and purchased the Terran Mirror Star Cruiser in the end. Seemed more practical, save having to wait to build up 200,000 Dilithium for it; especially with dilithium waving us goodbye come season 7.

Something I found out the other day ( I had the Mirror RSV in my bank ) I upened my Mirror RSV... it looked like my DSSV but gave me the Mirror Material.... a couple weeks later I broke down and got the Fleet DSSV... and while Customizing it I saw that I could apply the Mirror Material to my Fleet DSSV... now I wish I could put the ISS prefix on my Fleet DSSV but all in all I used the Fleet DSSV, With the Mirror Material and the Andromeda Paint layout (for lack of a better term) painted the Andromeda parts Purple and now I have a Fleet DSSV with LSU colors on it..... GEAUX Tigers !!!

Still wish I could put the ISS prefix on the ship though

You want to see a cool skin on a ship. The Assault Mirror Cruiser is compatible with the Regent class. The two things are made for eachother. The Regent looks totally bada## in mirror livery.!

Well, compared to the standard-universe Vor'cha, the mirror one lose an ensign tactical and gains an ensign science... Just my opinion, but I feel like low-level science has WAY more impact on your game performance than low-level tactical for a cruiser. :) I went with polarize hull for mine, escape tractors and stacks with aux2sif and subspace field modulator to boost damage resistance to crazy levels if things get crazy.

(Tractor beams are also extremely useful and multi-role)

Anyway, I heartily recommend Mirror Battlecruiser (Vor'cha) for cruisery types that want a few more survivability options. The skin is also much nicer than the Fed one.

I purchased the MU Vor'cha on the Exchange and I like it enough I purchased one on the Exchange and gave it to one of my friends. I fly it almost exclusively. Another of my friends purchased a MU Qin Raptor and gifted me with it. I began playing with this one yesterday. It is a very enjoyable ship to use so far. It will take a bit to fully explore all of its capabilities and drawbacks, but so far it has worked as advertised on the tin.

If someone is expecting the MU vessels to be GodShips which will solve all their problems with the touch of a button or a special console, they will be disappointed, I think. A lot people look for an edge in the hardware to make up for expertise or experience they currently do not have. Sometimes, this can lead to a 'flavor of the week' feeling to STO. Over Qo'noS, I used to see a lot of Carriers. Next it was Retrofit B'Rels. Then it became Vor'chas for a while. The current flavor is Temporal Destroyers and Qins, but these things cycle around. The thing which makes a ship effective isn't the hardware or the color of said hardware. It is you, Captain.

If you want the MU ship, then get it. But get it because you want it, not because someone posted somewhere in here, "OMG! OMG! Dis is Teh Awsum! Ebil Dooers Beewear!" Stay with it awhile. Learn what it can and cannot do. Only way to be truly effective with one ship is to use it. As often as possible for as long as possible. I have five KDF ships and I spend nearly all my time flying my MU Vor'cha. Because I liked it enough the first time to spend the time learning to use it well.

There are two main reasons why I think people buy mirror ships.

    1) If you are not happy with your RA free ship choice, the mirror ships represent good alternatives, and are cheaper than spending the dil in the shipyard. Since there are no fed mirror tacs, I think everyone should choose a tac at 40 regardless of career. If you prefer a cruiser or science you can just use the mirrors.

    2) The mirror skin and ISS prefix really make your ship stand out.

Yeah, I mentioned this in an earlier post. Drawbacks:You don't get to use Riker's universal exploding TRIBBLE gas console that comes with the Regant variant when using the Regant design on an MU cruiser. You do get the ISS prefix and skin. The reverse is the case when using an MU skinned Regant class. You can't get the ISS prefix, but do get the paint job and console. And of course on NO MU ship do we get the Terran Empire symbol of a dagger through the Earth. Minor things that deserve a fix at some point.
