Vesta doesn't exist in canon, so any arguments based on that are a bit nonsensical.

The Title for this weeks Blog: "Vesta - I Don't come is Peace - Death to the KDF"

She is going to be awesome.

Each toon I have that runs her will have a Dev's name!

The ships' main shuttlebay was located on deck twelve. Behind the shuttlebay was a large flight deck, allowing small craft too large for the shuttle bay to land; this area included a large deck lift which lowered into a runabout bay. Ships of the class were equipped with a fleet of both shuttlecraft and runabouts.

the ' flight deck' is the visable section in front of the shuttle bay , thats also the lift.

still a bit sketchy calling a ship that carries a pair of runabouts a carrier lol

...am I glad not to buy the HEC just yet.

And if the Vesta is a T5.5 ship...

    New Tactard Ship anyone?

Yes but the reason its not a carrier is because its a shuttlebay and it could not launch and recover then effectively as, I suppose, the traffic control is not really able to handle it and, of course, since there is only one door it cannot launch and recover at the same time, its either launching or recovering one at the time.

Also we never seen a Galaxy being used in such a role, I seen speculation but its just that, speculation

the galaxy actually has 3 doors. the ones seen and used int he show was actually bay 3 witch was the smallest of them. never once saw the main bay
Except the Armitage is a Escort so "oops", the number of ships that argument could be used against becomes quite small.

And if the whole reason is because of the lift and the lower deck section but ... its a lift, using it BLOCKS the Shuttledoor meaning its perhaps better for larger ships to be recovered but its still bottlenecks to one shuttle at the time.

Then again, why am I arguing? Cryptic pays ZERO attention to feedback s0 we get a flight deck cruiser ... J-O-Y!

So were the Fed BoP Cryptic ... I mean why not at this point?

the akira/armitage class should not even be an escort it's larger then some cruisers mass wise (about the same as an excelsior). in canon it's classified as a heavy cruiser and was a torpedo boat with 15 torp launchers according to the DS9 tech manual

Called it. Figured the Vesta would be the Fed equivalent of a Flight-deck cruiser.

The Aquarius should have been the Fed BoP. I'm just glad it got gimped to hell so it'll be a while more before Cryptic releases the Andorian raider with battle cloak.

Only their slow production time is preventing this from happening...

By golly, looking at the abilities of the Vesta, why isn't this a lockbox ship? At the very least it would give the Klingons a shot at a "version" of Vesta for themselves.

So Dual Cannons, Hangars, Sensor Analysis, Probably 3+ tactical consoles, probably some great layout...

I have one question cryptic...why would anyone fly other science ship?

Also, more danoobes in pvp... Why are you so persistent in destroying pvp experience for everyone Cryptic ?

Maybe, just maybe, it's the new lockbox ship, launching with S7?

    Please?
Even though I despise the lockbox system, please?

Otherwise, I agree, it'd make every other Science ship (except maybe the Wells), thoroughly redundant.

I think we're missing a part of the picture.

There are 3 consoles. Which means likely there are 3 variants of Vesta.

I'm guessing then that 1 variant has SStargetting and more shield, one has a hangar, and the last has higher turn rate and can mount DHCs.

Gecko said he was testing 3 powers on Twitter.

Well of course Cryptic can go defy my assumptions of logic by putting all three consoles on the same ship.

It will have all 3 on 1 ship and won't be a 3 pack.

It's virtually a given that they will charge between 3000 to 3500 zen given the extra costs in getting the ship - payments to the designer, legal issues etc, etc and given its a brand new ship with these extra costs they can easily charge 3000 min

given that a 3 pack would be around 7000 zen or $70+

You need to remember the Oddy 3 -pack was 5000 C-POINTS when it was released or more than 6000 zen

I highly doubt they will put out a ship that you have to pay $70 1 time or over $90 over time to get all 3

especially at this time of year just before christmas - it would be a hard sell

I will have 3000 zen already and my next stipend of 500 will bring me to 3500 - which should be the top end of the price range.

Finally, a FED equivalent of a Kar'Fi (pressumably). Dream come true - day one purchase for me.

For those concerned about Vesta having "fighters" - its book version does have a large flight deck and several shuttles and runabouts at its disposal, so it's not really canon bending or anything.

Can't wait for a Dev Blog with stats and such. Now I hope we'll get a Fleet Kar'Fi for the KDF to keep things "balanced" (*cough*).

I reckon it will be 3 versions like the Ody....

Tac: Can mount dual cannons and has a higher turnrate with tactical focus.
Sci: Has the special deflector/console and can use sensor analysis with science focus.
Eng: Can equip fighters and is Engineer focused with console/boff slots.

I was bored this morning and went to ESD to look at the shiny (yes, it's there on Tribble). It's a really  angle, but if you look at it from next to the ship salesbeing, there seems to be a horizontal black slash a few decks up from the deflector dish that seems to be at least a deck tall. I couldn't see the rear bay, but is it possible that it has a single through-and-through bay like the Armitage (taking up the place of that ridiculous split in the Odyssey)?

Not sure how I feel about it having the hangar, though it gives us the third type (assuming the Atrox is the cruiser carrier and the Armitage the escort carrier).

Ugh. Apologies. I didn't realize the pylons were so screwed up on the Regent, too.

Why can't I get my super OP -Vesta?? What is so wrong with them giving me what I have been asking for for months rrincy? Something that I said will sell maybe as many ships as the Oddy.

The KDF does need a "real Klingon" Science ship - not some other race. But they have already said making Klingon c-store ships are "not cost-effective" so don't hold your breathe.

yeah , just doesnt sit well with me though , if this is indeed a pack ship , and we dont know that for definite yet , then there really needs to be a KDF released at the same time

    guess we'll find out

There will be no KDF ship until 2013 at the earliest - they have said that many times. There is Zero chance of any KDF ship coming out same time as Vesta - it would have been telegraphed way in advance to calm down some KDF players if that were the case.
