I recently noticed that my Dual Heavy Phaser Cannons and Peregrine Fighters have a new ship type in their permissions, that of Multi-Mission Science Vessel. I'm guessing that this is the Vesta and I figured that it would have the dual cannons, but a hangar slot? That is most impressive. Cryptic, you may have just created the perfect ship for my playstyle. I thank you.
Hmm its looking as though its gonna be almost a carbon copy of the Kar'Fi.
Not terrible, that ships an STF machine, but I was really hoping for a fed ship that actually turns. Anyway who knows maybe they gave it a 12 turn rate and told the klingons to take a hard ride.
The positive side is its now confirmable that it will mount cannons as they said and rather likely has some kind of hanger capacity. I really didn't see that hangar coming.
calm down and wait for the dev blog next week , this could be an error for all we know
the vesta in the novel canon doesnt carry fighters , so it'd be pretty strange for it to suddenly have them
this is disappointing , but the vesta does have internal shuttle space , it having an external elevator for runabouts , but that hardly justifies it having a hanger
Im eager to see how they justify this on the dev blog lol

Makes sense, the Vesta in the books had a runabout bay and mounted cannons. it also had a special deflector if I remember correctly.
I am guessing the Vesta will be released in 3 versions like the Odessey.
And the Enterprise D had a hell lot of shuttles, the Galaxy is not a carrier despite the fact its hangar bay could easily handle 4 runabouts.
Odyssey us at the same, huge bay in the back ... yet no hangar.
Let me put this way, if they want to give it some hangar capability restrict it but then get surprised when everyone asks to get a Bay on their cruisers.
So what?
Yellowstone comes with engines.
I dont give a damn if it comes with 8 versions, IT SHOULD NOT HAVE A HANGAR.
couldnt agree more , it just seems silly , since its getting all of the additional tech added onto it , why does it need a hanger too ?
Well as were just making wild guesses might as well have fun.
So a thought if you were gonna make a sci ship with cannons and didnt feel like redoing 30+ gear tables. Who wants to make a bet an intern just went "Hey carries are Sci and can mount cannons" copy paste class and done for lunch?
In honor of the Romulan sector/season starting - I just heard the Vesta will come with a Phased cloaking device - based on the one Picard retrieved and exposed to the Romulans.
The hangar isn't really speculation, the Vesta's class' tooltip is already on any of the existing fighter pets. It's the same thing that happened with the HEC.
Personally, it makes sense to me that all non-Escort/BoP ships would have at least one hangar slot, because of the shuttlebay found on most starships. Makes sense that a captain could launch shuttles at will, and customize what that bay carries. I say non-Escort/BoP because their shuttlebays have been shown to be incredibly small. But, it'd make for a nice balance addition to Cruisers/Science Ships, since the world is ruled by DP-Escorts.
Before the Armitage and Atrox, folks were talking about the Vesta being a shuttlecarrier... I'm not sure why folks would be surprised about there being a hangar. It was in the PDF for the specs of the ship eons ago...
it doesn't really make any sense for it to be a carrier , but if it is , it is
just seems strange , since it supposedly got three systems geko was working on , translating into a possible three consoles , and then a hanger on top of that ?

and don't forget the other sci - ship ability - sub-system targeting
looks like you may get your op ship afterall
part of me is still hoping its a mistake and the hanger pets were labelled by accident when the cannons were , but sadly doesnt seem likely
although if it has a decent turn rate , and using the tractor-bouts , this will get loathed in pvp

A 37k hull -12 turn, sub-system target, sensor analysis, tractor-bots, dual heavy cannons, 1.4 shield mod, sub-nuk hit, sensor scan hit, Gw3 hit, torp 3 hit
Could be fun
PvP is Dead in this game - 99% of players don't care about it - let's hope Vesta puts it down for good.

seeing as the ent-D brought over all the runabouts in DS9s pilot plus it's normal compliment. in the tech manual the galaxy class had 10 personal shuttles, 10 cargo shuttles, 12 shuttle pods, 5 work bees.
really if the vesta can have at least 1 hanger why not every ship larger then an escort
Almost all Fed ships could field some supply of runabouts or a few fighters the difference between them and a carrier is a carrier has dedicated cargo to replace lost ones and launch new ships while in combat.
Thats something most ships lack. Also to my knowledge so does the Vesta so ??? F canon and make a fun sci flight deck carrier?

Not Mine, if it can turn worth a dime, I'm buying that.
If the Vesta is yet another spam barfer then yeah, I don't know if I can deal with that and continue playing with a straight face.

I would prefer a 40k hull and a 12 turn instead - with 1.4 shield mod and dual heavies up front.

luckily sensor anaylsis is automatic
I just hope that she really is super-OP with the other stats and BO layout
We need a real T6 ship!!
