Hi all,
After an awesome three days at DSTL, meeting a bunch of the stars, and a bunch of other fans, I thought I'd share some photos. Sadly I didn't get to meet any other STO players, but hopefully there'll be some new folks joining after getting the STO flyers in their goody bags (with a free holo-leeta doff).
Sadly I can't inline them in here, it seems, so here's the Flickr slideshow link:

Avery Brooks was intense. Would say "You get what I'm saying?" a lot (and most people wouldn't). Got on very well with fans, always made an effort to talk to fans, get photos, etc.
Patrick Stewart was nice, said hello when I got my photo done, and thank you when I left. His talk was very personal and funny. I get the impression that he understands the impact of his character, Star Trek, etc. but is less connected with the Star Trek world in the way others are.
Kate Mulgrew was very nice - very funny, friendly, happy to be there, happy to have a conversation, and you knew far more about the Trek universe than most of the other captains. She knew her favourite episode titles, favourite villains (The Borg), worst villain (Species 8472, because it was just a grey tennis ball on a stick. She briefly discussed the Kes/Seven of Nine thing. She said that her and Jeri Ryan got on fine, but that she resented the sexualisation of the series.
Scott Bakula was very cool - sang a little bit on stage, talked about his favourite episodes (In A Mirror, Darkly), other Enterprise bits, and some questions on Quantum Leap.
Shatner is quite different. He'd give a very vague answer to the questions in his talks, and use it to segue into something that he'd want to talk about. He did give a very interesting talk about how ST:V failed, and he said it started before the script had even been written. When I got my photo with him done, I was told to walk behind him and stand on his left. He didn't say hi, but I said thank you when I left and he said thank you in response. However, he seemed quite distant and looked like he just wanted to get done (it was late on Sunday)
We bumped into all of the Enterprise folks on the Sunday (the only time my fiance came along, as it was my birthday) - and managed to get photos with them just milling around.

I wish I had gone
i had a awesome time there, and was my first convention.
i kind of wish i knew what i know 4 days ago so i could have planned it out a little better for myself but i still pretty much got to see what i wanted to in the time i had available, so im still very happy.
The weekend was epic... as was the queuing.
it looked awesome!!!
Good photos! Glad you had a good time. Wish I could have been there.
It was a good event and despite the occassional obstacle my first convention and Star Trek one went was a success and got all I paid for done except the stunt show (heard it wasn't that good but some people do have high standards). A lot of good experiences and no one thing stood out as the best but I'll definitely remember Chase Masterson as being full of enthusiasm and energy, she really loves these conventions and her singing was great too.
Heard the record was officially beaten for most people in costume which was good to hear I ended up not doing it but may do so in future.
The only nagging thing I had about the experience was the virtual queue system...or lack of. At some venues you had a mass of people and no one was calling numbers so you could be stuck at the back with no way of knowing of you're number was included or not then others would join the back of you and so on and only the few at the front did you and they obviously weren't included yet. None of the helpers had mics so had to shout, hardly any whiteboards or I don't know football signs displaying added time but ticket numbers...nothing. I think anything like this would have made queueing a little easier to bear.
I don't care how long you've been playing. I only care about how you play.
And remember to follow the rules.
(I am a newb to the forums but not the game..)
I only managed to get my picture taken with Manu (Icheb) as I saw him coming out of his autograph booth late on the sunday.
I really enjoyed it, although it was a little mismanaged and organised.
I had a lovely banter with Brent Spiner! Such a happy fellow!
I really enjoyed it and would have loved to have seen/met more people.
I got a bit star struck when I saw Martha Hackett walk past me after leaving her autograph booth too.
But still not bad for my first convention !

Avery was fantastic and full of energy in his Friday shoot. Joking, talking to us, and even said in his talk (Saturday), said people in these conventions are treated like cattle in photo shoots. And he doesn't think that's right. These fans have come to see them, to interact with them, so he will give them that time. He recounted one time the organisers said he was taking too long and needed to speed up, so he just looked at them and replied "I'll take my own time" and took his time with the fans. Avery Brooks has gone way up in my estimation for the man. He's very mellow, very philisophical. Though his favourite answer when asked baout trek episodes was "I didn't write any of it. Ira Behr is here, you should ask him." Became a running gag in the talk that even he acknowledged. He even sent someone off to get Cirroc on stage. The two clearly have a close relationship still.
I'm not going to post up all my pics, as I have over 111 when I took them off my camera. But that was a damn good weekend.
She mentioned this in her talk. It's for an upcoming role where she plays a scary Russian lunch lady in a prison.
A Romulan Strike Team, Missing Farmers and an ancient base on a Klingon Border world. But what connects them? Find out in my First Foundary mission: 'The Jeroan Farmer Escapade'

Nice photo. Every time i walked passed Icheb his line was massive. He seemed really popular for what was quite a small role.
A few of my Twitter followers passed along the following link that has a video from the BBC. STO is mentioned by a player at the end :) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-20002297 (click the arrow that overlays Bakula at the top to play it)
Cheers,

The official programme you buy on the door also advertised STO on one page.
Fantastic photos. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, I never saw many people in his line when I passed towards the end of the day.
In the morning his row was quite full, but Im glad I caught him when he left
Such a nice guy and he had really nice rings on.
Did any of you get the chance to see the klingon guitar from the monster ball?
I was very fortunate enough to hold it!
Such a lovely guitar and a lot of signatures on it too

Such a lovely guitar!
Pretty certain all Gold Pass holders got him as one of their six in-person autographs
Yep That was planned by us.
Cheers,

Great event but, just as with the Vegas convention, it was meeting STO players, fleetmates, and Foundry authors that really made DSTL so amazing for me. There are some truly awesome people playing and making missions for this game, and I am blessed to have met some of them in person and call them friends.
And the Foundry has an utterly remarkable amount of currency. I was stopped a number of times each day by complete strangers asking whether I was alimac30, and I was even asked for my autograph! Crazy
I had an incredible time... I only wish it hadn't ended so soon.

Very funny!
Another excellent collection of photos.
I popped down on the Friday night to watch the Captain's Talk / Opening Ceremony.
It was great to see the five captains, and a lot of the bridge officers made appearances too, beforehand.
John Barrowman made a fantastic host - obviously a ST fan himself.
There wasn't much of a show floor though. The museum (prop exhibition) was fun, but other than that it was just paid photos/signings and merchandise stores.
The crowd were great though, and I imagine a lot of fun was had at the parties.
People were not really allowed to film the conversations but someone at least did for kate
