Been away for a few months, with the autopatch bug. Trying to update now with the VPN workaround, and it seems to be working so far.
Are we KDF still the left-handed, red-headed, unwanted b*st*rd step-children of STO, or have things improved? I don't see near as many complaint threads as I did back a few months, but that may just be that people have gotten tired of shouting down a well.

Besides a couple of Kdf diehards, not many are acting as the voice of the Kdf anymore. I figure most just moved on from the issue or quit the game. I honestly I stopped caring and don't think anything is going to be done about the Kdf. Any sort of mention in regards to the Kdf by Cryptic is just lipservice and empty.
The infamous decloaking bug still exists, and in fact it has been renamed as a "feature" by one of the founding fathers whose name shall not be written
Grinding for MkIV epic gear?
Ain't Nobody Got Time for That
Never have been. The economics are just the way they are. I still have fun with my 4 KDF characters, because, let us face it, KDF is only "starved for content" by comparison to the Feds, not in absolute terms. The game experience in itself is awesome.
(And falsely stating otherwise won't draw more people into playing KDF.)
Not much. Alpha, a new mission, has been added, and the starbases are clearly a good thing for KDF PvE. But when the Devs add the new Foundry features to the game by the end of October or November, KDF should get a whole lot of new missions with decent rewards, so stay tuned, I'd say.
I have to agree, although there are things that are badly needed, to really round out the KDF faction. Our ship count for end-game ships is also pretty low, compared to the Federation, and they still get ships about 4x as often as we do. We have more Commander and Captain level ships, but you're only going to use those for a couple days, as fast as leveling happens in STO.
It's still more fun over here, though, IMHO...and, about the foundry, there are much more interesting story possibilities over here as well (also just my opinion, of course).

Things cannot improve. Improvement is physically impossible under the laws of thermodynamics: Entropy always increases. Things can only get worse at varying rates of speed.
In that regard, since I first arrived here, I have witnessed no improvement, but meanwhile, the tutorial has gotten more obnoxious with no method to skip it like the Fed tutorial, and Engineers have been nerfed. So there's your decline update.

Sadly no we are still the same or even worst i would say.
To many f2p kids scrawl around in Federation moaning and whining around i guess this doesnt make things better.
We are worst cause for 3-4 ships feds get we get only 1 maybe if we get any at all.
So much dissapointed from the lack of attention in KDF side.
KDF is in the same bad shape as before.
In certain terms it is even worse since it es exploited by the Federation to quickly farm dilithium for their faction.
Being a former Fed Troll i have pretty much reversed course of late and being posting hard about the need to do something for the KDF - i would say that is a pretty big change.
Still Have not gotten an answer from Mr Stahl about my Idea to inform new players in game with a big screen announcement when then become eligable to create a KDF character. It's a simple thing - however - it may take some players of the path to the end game Fed money machine so I am not sure it will get done.

If the game were a closed ecosystem, with the players sealed inside, and no way in or out, this would hold true. The devs, on the other hand, represent an outside force acting upon the game. They are expending their energy to counteract the contant entropy toward which the game would tend.
The KDF faction is vastly improved since launch; there's no denying that. At launch, we had no storyline missions whatsoever; deep space encounters and PVP were all we had at the time.
It still needs help to bring it closer to the state of the Federation faction, but I'm confident the devs will eventually do this. I'm just getting tired of waiting, and it gets especially frustrating every time I see a new Federation ship in the C-store, with nothing being added on the other side.
To be honest, even with the new Lock Box fluff, I am getting so bored with this game that tonight I am going to download and try out SWTOR which is now F2P.
The KDF has been the only thing holding me here and I log in only to do some dilithium grinding and converting into Zen in case the Dev's ever decide to do something about the KDF. I doubt they ever will. So should have never gotten that lifetime membership.
Support the Game by Supporting the KDF, equality and uniqueness for all factions!
There is hope for the future of the KDF. It sounds like season 8 is going to give us a boost.
That means that in the next 4-5 months or so the KDF might receive more material (all of this assuming, as Stahl said) on how well season 7 does. Our job, as customers, is to make sure that the devs know that there is a consistent demand for KDF material.
The fact that we just received a new science ship (albeit a lockbox one) attests to the devs responding to the KDF need for a true KDF science vessel. It is movement, but at a snail's pace.
Sidenote: I for one hope that majesticmsfc does not give up the fight. He is such a valuable voice in the KDF community! I know what will inspire you: some good old fashion pain sticks. Come here and let me inflict you with much glorious pain!!!

I think you'd do more inspiring with a heat rock sauna than painsticks, in this case...
Sorry I just realized I wasn't clear on why I posted to this thread. It was in reply to being the redheaded stepchild. I really wanted to believe in the game as a whole and KDF specifically. But just canceled my sub at the end of Nov. Reasons?
1) Total lack of anything remotely KDF oriented development. Granted they have a lot less options to work with than Fed but still. Everything I'd seen felt like a half baked attempt.
2) PWE. Though I came after F2P started I stayed because I looked into cryptic. Needless to say I didn't do enough or PWE would probably have kept me away. The idea of playing a REAL game run by a company that's setup to run like Farmville just disturbs me for some reason. If I wanted a dumbed down game I'd play Farmville or other iteration of the same thing
3) MMO Burnout. POST WOW I just can't stand the whiners in games anymore. I guess I'm just old but when every day brings a new post whining about how they can't get their shiny perfect mission because some person with imagination and creative thinking decided that a Tac officer in a Sci ship was a pretty good combination. Personally my favorite was Engineer in a BOP Loaded up on Engineering and Sci BoFs but that's me.
So I'm pretty much done with MMOs which saddens me. I really thought there was a future for them but until we as a species quit trying to get dumber and start thinking again I'd rather not deal with masses anymore. Starting to regret all I spent on sub and getting my oddy plus various other things like more char slots so I could load up my Klingon side once I fell in love there. For a casual gamer there just isn't any point to playing MMOs anymore as they've been totally taken over by the people willing to spend more money on trinkets for an I win feel but the same people aren't willing to spend for a $15/mo Subscription. Oh well I guess it makes sense to them.
There's another thread down that had some rather biased against KDF questions for Salami and it's clear that the P2W and other forces trump true development and gameplay anymore. So there really isn't a point as P2W has replaced true subscription games that you spend years and a few hours at a time to develop. /rant off /communications closed
You still get a red hud. Friendlies are still red on the red hud. Enemies are red on the red hud. Objects are still red. Its all red. I hope you enjoy red.
Klingon hud is still the worst hud in the history of video games.
Fed got a 5 tac console escort that can also slot 4 shield cap consoles in the science slots, but nobody has bothered to complain. Guess what my lone fed toon will be flying?
The Fleet Vorcha is almost enough to compensate for the continual tea-bagging KDF escorts have gotten. Lots of people like the Fleet Somraw now too. The KDF vet ship got a battlecloak, that's just lulz. It lost like .07 off its shield modifier for it. lol.
So yeah, we're talking ships, that's about it. No content.

At least the blue fed hud has red enemy target boxes. Red being quite different from blue makes it easy to target things. Red and Dark Orange are hardly different at all, its an assinine color scheme.
I like the red hud in general. I dont like the Dark Orange enemies. Make them contrast yellow, green, blue... not a 1-off hex-value.

Well that was subjective as hell. I for one happen to like and enjoy the red hud.

Derp, I was thinking Fleet AE but that's only 3 sci consoles.

the blue hud makes me sick.
im hoping soon that we can CUSTOMISE our own HUD and buttons where ever we wants them.
All i seem to be reading is that the KDF got the short draw on may things but...fact is i enjoy KDF side much much better compared to when i was playing Fed so!

That's only half the story. The other half is that this is only true for a closed system. STO is on the internet and programmed by humans. Both the internet and all humans live on Earth. Earth is not a closed system, it's both endothermic and exothermic, producing it's own heat in the core and receiving heat externally from the sun.
As such, things can improve. At least till the sun dies.

Still waiting for the future make its way here that has been speculated as being a possible desire of the Devs to accomplish and complete the KDF.

Can it also play the Klingon Propaganda cutscene?

You are the 20% so you get 20% of the attention. That means 1 ship to every 4 the fed get.
