What's missing is a Medical Team power. It could offer one of the very few methods of speeding up crew recovery in-combat and perhaps give a smaller secondary effect cutting cooldowns for certain abilities slightly.
What do you guys think? I frequently find my cruiser ends up with barely any active crew while playing STFs.
It always amazes me that my ship still functions when 99.9% of my crew is dead...
Thank goodness that the ships EMH is Very Adaptable.
I've often wondered why They (Cryptic) never added some kind of significant BOff power to help speed up crew recovery...
But then again, why bother, it was probably someone's "Side Project"...
(sorry..., that came out a lot more bitter than I intended it too...)
I think your idea is a good one.

My friends and I came to the conclusion that if there ever was going to be a crew boosting ability, it would have to be Photonic Officer, which is a rather useless skill in and of itself, since it only cools down your boff abilities, of which 20% is usually a couple seconds, or, at most, 40 seconds off a 2 minute cooldown. Might as well use another similar ability or another heal, or another offensive ability in that slot. For the return versus the spent slot, photonic officer is questionably useful. Rather than cooling down doffs, it should give some crew, either recover some or add from dead crew.

I always pretend that Crew life bar doesnt exist. Half the time my ship hasnt even taken any serious exterior damage (full shields and hull) and half my crew are incapacitated or dead. So unless my ships nacelles are hanging off by a thread. In my mind my crew are alive, healthy and doing their jobs.
I always just thought that a new bridge officer position of ships councilor was needed. All I can figgure is that when I take a torp hit, my shields are fine, hull at 99% and crew at 50% that half my crew just thought they were doomed, and rather than be taken prisoner they just go out the nearest airlock. A councilor with the "life is worth living" power could help this. There could be a series of new powers around this. An engi power of "emergency power to life support", a tac power of "secure general quarters" could drive out boarding parties and make crew recovery better by directing medical teams, then a medical team power. I would imagine that most of this should fall under the eventual first officer powers. I can't remember Kirk or Picard ever calling out that many orders around ship conditions in combat. They were mostly centering their attention on blowing up the bad guy.
Tac team use to do that didn't it? If memory serves I thought that was all it was good for at one time.
If it did, I never noticed it making a difference.
Maybe that was back in Beta??
