this has been bugging me. I have all the kdf ships. I would like to know which do you think is the best for an engineer.

Penghqu you have more manueverability and that nice console.

Bortasq you have an extra weapon slot, more hp's.

Bortasq is more tank friendly but the penghqu has battle cloak.

I have been racking my brain for weeks and keep on switching back and forth.
Should I start posting again after all this time?

IMHO, escorts/raptors/destroyers are the dominate ship in STO, and I like that I now have one that an eng or sci capt can fly that allows for at least LtCmdr level abilities that aren't tactical.

But if you're really struggling between the Bortas'qu or the Peghqu', it really depends on your preferred play style. I think the question you're asking is do you want to Tank or DPS, and that's a question you have to answer for yourself.

What is this "OR" business? :P Bortie can do both, so long as you're able to put up with it's terrible maneuverability. You could go with an APO and 3x conn doffs to reduce evasive recharge to help offset this I guess. Depends if it's intended for pvp or pve though.

How about the Fleet Vorcha? tact3 boff station while keeping the eng4 as well. I find this works out better for 'normal' things but in STFs, the 'penguin' seems to do better... as do most escorts.

Need to know what you intend to do with the ship: are you trying to be a support/healer or are you trying to be a damage dealer?

This would be my advise as well. The Tor'Kaht is probably the best mix of mobility, damage, and survivability in the game. Although I'd probably fly a Peghqu as an engineer because you'll already be harder than hell to kill regardless, and the Peghqu will do more damage.

I think you forgot carriers. You know those big ships sit somewhere while their pets do their bidding at least in PvE :D

Now to answer the original question: go for Peghqu
    Grinding for MkIV epic gear?

I need a decision between the two ships.
i own all the kdf ships and i own the fleet corsair (which is awesome), but I want a good dps ship.

I can't get a DPS build that doesn't make me get one shotted with the Destroyer.

The bortas has alot of negatives (slow moving with canons, and ridiculous consoles) but it surviveable with DPS.

So, unless anyone can think of a surviveable DPS destroyer build, I am stuck with the Bortasq.

Try DontdrunkImshoot's build ideas on the Vet destroyer. The A2Sif, single A2B and even the double A2B versions.

I recently enjoyed the all cannons single A2B build and found it vera nice.

I'm quite happy with the Peghqu. Tanks fairly well with the build in my sig. For an engy the DPS is half decent too (I think anyway).

Can tank everything in elite STFs. Just have to be careful with ise sphere mobs or neg+raptor combo in cse, but otherwise, very survivable.

I find DBB's are more useful in STFs, if absolute DPS is more important than switch them out for D(H)Cs.
The DBB wider firing arc, combined with FaW3, APB1, TT1 & nadion inversion means solid AoE dmg and can get closer and still affect more NPCs (wider firing arc) than cannons with scatter.

Then run over them with warp plasma, dropping aceton assimilar and DPB3 buffed tric mines in the middle of em.

    Good fun.

Peghqu for in close battles, Bortasqu for standoff range damage/tanking.
