Ground Zero. What a disaster. I've never seen a mission so poorly designed and I play a ton of my Foundry missions. Constant bugs, plot holes, endless mobs, plasma torpedo spam, one-shot kills... the list goes on.
Join me starting tomorrow as I go on a four-part journey to run this God-forsaken mission. My channel is here or you can click on my signature.
Devs, bring a notebook and prepare to write.

Oh yeah, I remember this one now, vaguely. I do not remember it as being one of my favorites.
Any chance that you'll comment on it here?

Just played this a week or two ago. Seemed fine to me.
Some bugs are a product of circumstance. My videos will have more detail of the problems with the mission.
One thing to keep in mind (as I discussed in my intro video) is I am trying to stick with how a newb silver player would play. That means very little bonuses, C-Store products, or Vet Rewards. Now, some of them I cannot get around (like the XP bonus and vet BOffs). But I am otherwise trying to keep my builds Zen-free.
Now, if someone like me, who has played this game since launch and just unconciously builds things better than a total neophite, has trouble then imagine the frustration a true silver player has.
No doubt, if I was running this with my VA in his Excelsior refit, the mission would go by in 10 minutes, but that's not what I'm trying to accomplish.
Edit: Another thing to keep in mind is I am trying to film my playing while providing commentary. So I believe the small things I miss while doing that will adaquetely substitute for true ignorance.

Very good chance. I'll be posting the links as the videos go live and providing a brief summary of my problems. But understand the purpose of this thread is to get you to watch the videos.

You have to literally be in the asteroid to enter the system.
You are given permission to scan the system and then are attacked when you scan the system.
The attack is never explained.
The Reman version of the D'deridex is OP.
The skills the D'deridex has stack to completely immobilize a ship and destroy it.
One-shot torpedos despite health over 50%.
Tomorrow's video has one of the worst bugs I have ever seen. Subscribe to the channel to know when it and future videos go live! Or click on my signature to get the latest video!

Combat takes place too close to the edge of the map.
Had to restart mission to get a D'deridex I could fight.

Honestly... I knew this mission was just bad... but that was the first time I saw a mob physically leave the mission area.

It was the first time it had ever happened to me. But it obviously is something that needs to be looked at.

Jeez, it almost looks like a very different mission. The first time I did this in my Akira, I never had too much trouble with the D'deridex, and I have NEVER had it reach the boundries of the map. Very strange.
The D'deridex attacks you because you went beyond the planetoid to scan those fragments. They only wanted you to stay at Hobus III, conduct scans, then leave. Because you started moving into the system, they attacked you. They don't want you to find out about their secret facility at Hobus I. It probably would've made more sense for the fragments to be near Hobus II, and as you approached it, the Remans would then attack.
My first run through of the mission, the ground part was where I had trouble. Having to navigate that map to reach the objectives. The Remans and their telekinetic abilities were very OP and took out my away team a few times near the end.
Tomorrow's video finishes this mission with yet another space battle with one-shot D'deridex.

After my first defeat, D'deridex gives up and just sits there. Apparently, even the game was ready for this mission to end.

That was horrendous. I'm gonna go run the first space part with my Fleet Defiant and see if an overpowered little ship can beat an overpowered big one shot ship that's scaled to my level.
One point. Your experiance with the reman warbird matches my own with romulan ones in general. They appear to all be equally bad IMHO.
The real issue is that due to how it pins you down it's got higher crit magnitude and crit chance, coupled with soem pretty hefty high yeilds and it's downright insane burst.

But if you look at my previous videos, you'll see I have very little issue with the Romulan Warbirds. It's only this Reman one that gives me trouble and I don't know why! They should be the same ship with different skins.

I'm fairly sure the mission keeps track of how many times you get murdered by the warbird and turns the AI to "sit there and take it" after so many instances as a way to keep people from raeg quitting the game due to an unbeatable mission in the single player.
I do look forward to your commentary when you get to Taris as, if I remember correctly, the Reman Warbird there does the exact same thing.
While your video (when you first enter the Hobus system) does show some serious O.P. on the part of the Remans, I didn't see you transfer shield strength (I use the arrow keys during a battle) to reinforce your weak shield. Your weapon load out is questionable IMHO. I get that this is supposed to be a window into the "silver account" world but turrets out back with dual cannons or dual heavies would increase the DPS and it is reasonable to think that a "silver" player would make a similar adjustment. A tactics change may improve ones chances. However the plasma spam is what seems to happen even when I go up against Romulans too. And the plasma spam is quite O.P.
Maybe this is because I always use shield tanking skills even at low levels, and AoE attacks that can destroy projectiles, but I've never had a problem with D'deridexes. Even the Defenders that accidentally made it into the game sometime back (they were a welcome challenge).
I really hate to sound all "learn to play" when I don't consider myself to be all that great at combat, but I really do think putting a little thought into tactics is something everyone should be forced to do.
Romulan and Reman Warbirds are the first boss enemies a player encounters that are meant to pose a real challenge. If the techniques you use for fighting them don't work, you need to adapt.

My build worked fine against Romulan Warbirds (I have several videos that show this). Why does it fail against Reman Warbirds?
The question isn't the build, the question is the mob. I died more times against this one Reman Warbird than I have total up to this point in the Romulan arc and it also contained D'deridex ships. In fact, until this mission I had been happier to see the D'deridex rather than the Mogai and the D'deridix is a Captain ship!
I was under the impression the differences were just the skin. Is the AI for Reman ships different than that of Romulan ships? If so, they may be OP.

Odd becuase i've never found the reman one any worse than the standard romula ones, then again the majority that you encounter that don't die super fast come after this mission in my experiance. Before this they tend to burn down faster, it's like the game ndergoes a difficulty hike around this level, (probably becuase your near captain rank by this point).
Well I took my ship, a Fleet Tactical Escort Retrofit, on the first part of the mission. I got to the first battle with the I.R.W. sihdgldh that occured over the shielded planet thing. I activated all my buffs and debuffs on a Borg antiproton Mk XII dual beam bank:
Beam Overload III
Attack Pattern Alpha III
Attack Pattern Delta III
Tactical Team I
Tactical Fleet
Fire On My Mark
Go Down Fighting
Cloak Ambush (+15% damage for five seconds after decloaking)
Weapon power at 124/90
I fired my dual beam bank, all superpowered, in an easily well over 30k damage blast. And guess what happened.
I barely even took down one shield facing.
Of course, with all my buffs activated and a CRF I, I demolished its hull in a matter of seconds. But that is on the level of an STF Borg cube! There are few NPC ships in the game that can take a blast of that size only with their shields. It is just beyond me...
I start "Ghost Ship" tomorrow and it lasts until Tuesday (Click on signature). At the very end of it I face a Romulan D'deredix. Other than the initial blitz, it poses no threat to me and I end up destroying it relatively easy.
Compare that to "Ground Zero" and you'll see why I think there is an AI issue.
