Starbase incursion *HIDDEN LOCKBOX*

f9thaceshighf9thaceshigh Member Posts: 1 Arc User
I noticed while playing Starbase Incursion that there is a lockbox hidden on top of one of the stacks of crates in the lower left of the map. I was able to get my toon about half way up to it (after the mission ended, I wouldn't dare trying during the mission) by climbing up onto a console and then jumping to the wall in that corner, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to get from the wall to the crates, anyone have any ideas?

    What he said^^
The dev formerly known as Tumerboy, aka Tacofangs, designed the map and stated that he placed it there just to get peoples interests and to irk some others. :D
He said it was kinda like his little joke about "Where do all the Lockboxes go that people discard in droves?!"... Well...
    You found it!!
Notice how in the center of the Incursion map, the big holo terminal, has a big box floating in it?
Ya, your in the place that everyone throws the lockboxes they didn't want go.
You are in the Lockbox recycling center.

This begs the question why we even defend this place? I would say: "Go ahead *insert random invader here*. Thank you, come again!" No harm done. In fact, we could possibly strengthen our relations with alien species this way. Reputation System *hint hint*. :D

On a more serious note: Little disappointing it's "just" a joke. I appreciate it, but it would be great to have something like this in the game. You know, things to discover with little rewards (doesnt have to be an item, could also be a short story). Thats part of exploration and always fun. Like in Single Player open world RPG's, where you can find hidden things offside the mission / road. In this case, we can see the box, try to reach it, but there is no explanation in game. Now i am wiser, but only because i found this thread in the forum, and (you) darkstarkirian clarified the background story.

Edit: We had the Lobi crystal hunt during the FE's replay weeks, but that was just for that. Would be fun to have something like this on more maps / missions, permanently.

Sorry, just a little wink, nothing more.
I'll try to get design to hook some little nod/perk to these kinds of things when I do them in the future. I know that our newest content designer is hooking up some such perks in the new Romulan Colony map we're working on.

Keep putting in those winks taco. In-jokes, references, callbacks, shoutouts, easter eggs, that's what makes things really fun.

Speaking of which, WHAT THE HECK DOES BRANDON'S NODE DO!???!!:confused::confused:

Seriously just remembered that one. :P

Edit: Unless... it spawns a Felczerian NPC from the future who gives us a free Wells? ^^

You guys are good climbers. When I made the map, I tested a number of ways to get up there, and couldn't, so I didn't expect you guys to find a way up. I should know better. :P

I was just talking to our new content designer, and he's putting in some perks on the new Romulan Colony map, in some of the high spots I made sure were accessible (without a caitian, or a cover shield). So get ready to climb come S7.

Farktoid made sure I let him get up on some particular points of interest.

There is one other thing that bugs me on those maps. With my federation captains (noncat) I am able to jump the half height boxes just fine. With my KDF chars however it is 'really' really hard to get on the half height boxes.

I think it should be an accolade, or maybe a title you can unlock. :D

Maybe we could get a pair of 'Rocket boots/jet boots' as a trophy to hang on the wall/floor (would that satisfy everyone who wants them even though they wouldn't be usable?)

If you ever award rocket boots, you have to make people find an NPC named Gul Libble to get them.

The Caitians have no trouble with it at all. They just hop on one of the raised supports on the floor, from there on the ledge, and the ledge goes all the way around the cargo bay. And even non-Caitians can do it, as there's consoles right up against the walls.

Good thing too. It probably would've driven me mad otherwise.
